Hello! and moving files here

OK everyone,

I've figured out how to upload files and organize them, but groups.io has the same defect that yahoo groups acquired a number of years ago: they don't let you open files in another window, but only allow you to DOWNload them when you click. I guess that doesn't bother anyone here, because you're used to it already.

I've uploaded, as a test-case, all the files for Aph 273 into a folder of that name, here on the group. There's the usual "ila-273..." files of the interlinear for main text and footnote, there is the german-english file (ge-a273...), and there are two files, called "Aph273-analysis" and "Aph273fn-analysis" with a trimmed down version of the email of my analysis. I have to say, that the analyses don't sound very clear or enlightening to me, but I guess they do if you've just translated and studied that aphorism! It also seems to start and stop kindof out of nowhere, because I removed the chatty intro and exit. What do YOU think of them as they are? I spent some time making the text look nicer, by putting the German words in red: since it's html, I can do that, but I don't know how it'll format on YOUR computers.?

SINCE you have to download them to SEE these, there's no point in having links to groups.io, so I changed the links to merely call each other simply, as if they were indeed all together next to each other in a file folder called "Aph273". So, if you create a file-folder on your computer with "Organon" and then download the complete file-folders from groups.io that I'll be creating, you can then just go into each aphorism's folder, and click on the ge- file, the German English. I've changed it so that not only does the right hand side German text link to the German interlinear, but now the English side texts link to my (in English!) analysis.

?

Tell me what you think. It will take quite a while to work through all the analysis files, making them HTML, colorizing the German and fixing the formatting. Maybe I'll ship up all the ge's and ila's first, so you have a complete set of those before the other group goes down.?

I'll keep writing on HMN on yahoo until the end...but I suppose I should post a copy of this here, in case some of you LEFT the old group?! I don't want to annoy you with multiple copies of posts...

?

Anyone got any opinions or ideas, let me know.?

Hello all!

Thanks to having to recover from two visits to the dentist, this has been delayed, but now I can tell you that
a) I have a copy on my computer of all interlinears, and all analyses that exist. (I have discovered that I completely forgot to write the analyses of Aph 148 for example, and a number of footnotes from Aph 50 towards smaller numbers. Once I got to Aph 1-20, there wasn't REALLY any analysis, just an open discussion among a number of people...I'll have to do those from scratch eventually!...
b) I am currently working, from the latest one (Aph 274, whose footnote isn't analyzed yet), back towards the smaller numbers, on completing/correcting each Aphorism. As I mentioned before, on the page that has the German and English side by side, the interlinear translations are linked to the German parts, and the analyses of the same bits are linked to the English words.?

I will continue to work on this, which is tiring, and requires attention, but not too much intelligence, through Xmas, and see how far I get. I am hoping that I'll feel better in the New Year and up for creating new analyses and working on those missing ones!

Thank you, Emile, for your message which gives me an easy opportunity to write to the group. In answer to your question, I THINK that Aph242 was done a while ago (only in the sense of translation but not analysis) because it was referred to alot in a previous aph, so in order to use it correctly, refer to it, I did it out. But we're actually ON Aph 241, whose main text I've done but not yet the long footnote, so it's not up yet. But perhaps my memory is not correct...?

? ? And there's a reason for why Aph 241 is still not done.. I'm sorry that I haven't made ANY progress on the group since November: I haven't been able to do anything at the intellectual level because of a serious overdose of magnesium due to supplementation.? Not only did it take me far too long once symptoms started, to determine that too much Mg was the cause (only a week or so ago, when I was suffering Sx since December!!) but it's alot harder to get rid of excess Mg than one would think!! Eating sugary things doesn't do as much as one might hope, tho I don't know why. And trying to eat low-mg meals is also not simple. But once I finally UNDERSTOOD the actual problem and started eating carefully, I'm slowly getting to the point where my brain in clearing, but I'm still not up for any real mental work. Perhaps in another month?! <sigh>. And the worst part is that someone did warn me, and I ignored them... What an idiot! I won't do it again!!

Am in touch with a homeopath, have taken Mag Mur but it only helps when the sx are obvious due an "overdose" in my daily intake. It's ok:I've finally gotten on top of it...it'll just take time.?

I wonder if the after shown in bold character in the english translation should not be replaced by alter or change ?

But that isn't one of my translations...is it? I see other things that aren't quite ok, starting from simply not having the same parentheses between original and translation. Did I do so badly back then?! I'm shocked.?

? ? ?Since we're talking.. been meaning to write to the group to explain my continued absence... I'd just got? pretty much recovered from the excess magnesium, to discover I'd come down with the mumps!! Must have got it from another person while in my doctor's office.. I'm still fighting off the last bits of that, hoping to recover from weeks of bad sleeping etc and once more have a comfortable throat, no swollen sides of the face, and be able to think straight in a another week, maybe two. Let's hope I don't get Coronavirus next!!

Yes, this is really the text of your translation. Normally I did not modify it and at the time I only copied and pasted the German and English texts, but not the analysis and sentence-by-sentence translation parts.
In fact, I was studying a book on the treatment and cure of cancers by Homeopathy. The author (Jens Wurster) was commenting some aphorisms of the 6th Organon aphorisms to present his treatment strategy and I thought: but how did she translate that Lois? And that's when I noticed a slight misunderstanding!

Sorry for your childhood illness! It reminds me of when my 3 children and my wife also caught mumps at the same time (not me because I had them as a child).? Homeopathy had worked well for everyone and I was happy to find a presentable family again! (smile)

For the Coronavirus it seems that Genus Epidemocus should be either Gelsemium or may be Bryonia. In fact it's probably some kind of flu that can be cured with flu remedies.

Well, in the old group, that part was sent as an email. Now, I'm trying to take those emails and edit them to be clearer, and without the extra, sometimes too personal stuff. Since I assumed people kept their emails, I'm only putting up the finished versions, when I do them.?

And, unfortunately, I have to say, I'm in no condition to work on the group... First I got myself Magnesium poisoned at the end of last year, and didn't realize it til January etc. It took many weeks to understand what was happening, so I could work on getting it down to a reasonable amount. Doubly unfortunately, while going to my doctor for THAT, I must have picked up Mumps from some child in the doctor's waiting room! That was in February...and while the crush lasted ten days, so the worst of it was done, the swelling of the glands on the sides of the face, up to the ears, didn't respond as you'd expect!? I don't know why, whether it's because of my age or what, but it's "stuck", and while I seem to be able to improve it a little bit each week, using all sorts of things, I can't get rid of it. And it makes my brain a bit fuzzy...enough that I can't do German!!?

? ? So this group has stopped until I can get well... I'm very sorry, but if I can't think straight, I can't do German translations...?
