Locked Sticky A group for SERIOUS group owners
This GroupManagersForum is founded in the tradition of the GroupManagersForum ( https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/GroupManagersForum/conversations/messages/2 ) on Yahoo! Groups. Attachments are allowed and the judicious use of screen shots and other illustrations is encouraged. To prevent malicious attachments, avoid spam, off-topic messages, and certain kinds of spoofing, ALL messages sent to GMF are moderated. Despite these measures, be aware that the bad guys are clever so there's no guarantee that we'll always succeed; you are encouraged to be vigilant against any and all threats arriving via email. Your GMF moderators make no guarantees regarding the safety of emails arriving from this or any other 开云体育 address. Don't post JUST to advertise your groups. Listing your group in your signature is perfectly acceptable, just make sure there's content in your post. Do post something about being a 开云体育 group owner, moderator or member. What suggestions do you have for improving 开云体育? What works for growing your group? When is it a good idea to create an unlisted group? How do you manage the role of owner on multiple groups? How do you manage playing owner on one group and member on others? There is power in numbers. Ask "How to" questions: "How do you do...[function of your choice]?" We all have to learn somewhere Through the contributions of its members this group can become a powerful voice for education, quality, change and improvement in 开云体育 -- provided we work and focus on that as our collective goal. -- Shal *HELP:* GMF Wiki - /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/home Official Help - /helpcenter Search GMF messages - /g/GroupManagersForum/topics Search by hashtag - click on the number of posts - /g/GroupManagersForum/hashtags

What is a "locked" subgroup? 5
What does "locked" mean? Does it mean that new members can no longer be invited? Due to budget constraints I need to downgrade to free. It says my subgroups will be locked. Can I invite new members? Can I delete existing members? I have been searching through the manual ... cannot find the answer. Thank you for any help. Otto

Pileup at Storage Limit! Now what? 4
A member was uploading a stack of PDFs, a dozen or more, multi page. I had told her it was OK because I thought it was. Suddenly a NO MORE ROOM alert!! The Old Attachments Auto-Removal switch was on, and I'd not received an 80% warning. My guess is that the space filled too quickly for the fail-safes to kick in, so my instinct is to sit tight to see if it fixes itself overnight. Is that reasonable? Or, should I start panic deleting on my own? Thx, Laurie

Override/translate "confirm subscription" message 5 #messages #subscription #settings
Hello, I opened a group for people where some of them don't speak English. Hence, I need the possibility to either override, translate or turn off the "Confirm Your 开云体育 Subscription" message that new subscribers receive after sending a first registration email Otherwise, people won't reply and never be able to sign up. Which options do I have? Thanks and best regards Armin

Opting OUT of a new Subgroup - can it be done? 4
I'm flummoxed with this one. I want to find a way to be able to create a new Subgroup and send the Invite to all members of the Group. But I want to make it clear and easy for anyone NOT INTERESTED in the subject of the new Subgroup to Opt Out of it. If I understand the process and flow properly, any New Topic/message/reply sent From a Subgroup topic/message will go to all Subgroup members. Non-Subgroup members will not even know that the message existed unless they go into the Subgroup and read/reply to it. I haven't found anything in the Owners Manual, or Member's Manual, or GMF that seems to address this, though I think I saw something alluding to it a while back. Simple outline: New Subgroup - Cruising and Vacations (themed to share specifics on these subjects) with an Invitation Sent to All Members of the Group. Note/disclaimer in the first paragraph - "If you are NOT INTERESTED in further emails on this subject you can OPT OUT of this Subgroup by (fill in with the instructions); you will then NOT receive any further messages on this subject. If you would like to share your, and other's experiences on these subjects then Reply to/Contribute to this Subgroup messages. If you would like to (re)join this Subgroup at a later time, you may do so easily." Further explanation for those who do not have any Subgroup knowledge or experience - "This Subgroup is intended to put like-minded and interested members in contact with others who think and do things of this nature. The idea is to share good and bad experiences, information and knowledge on the subject, and ideas." Then I would add in a 'first shot' detailing some of the experiences of a cruise we just returned from. I've actually already created the Subgroup, I just want to let the Group know about it. And, specifically, knowing (some of) the Group's tendencies to resist MORE emails for any reason, I want to make it CLEAR that there is an immediate and complete way OUT right now. Thanks for your brain power in hoping to find an answer.

change made from outside of group? 4
As moderator, I received the following email message earlier today from groups.io (with an actual name and addresses, of course). I looked through the activity log and it displays the same information. How do I find out who from what group actually made this change? A moderator in another group changed Jane User <new-user@...> 's email address from old-user@... via web

Is there a way to re-send a poll 10
I run a group with some not-computer-savvy seniors in it. I sent out a poll but some said they didn't see it. Is there a way I can send the poll link out to people again (without starting over with the poll)? Thank you, Kristin

moderation of chat feature / possible clearing of the activity log 7
Hello to you all ........ 1/ Firstly - if some one joins into an existing chat, can their input be removed if required to do so by the owner/moderator, or can only the member who made the comment do that ? - I am talking here of say an individual comment with photos attached etc. I can see that the owner/moderator can delete the whole "chat" completely & thereby lose everything but what if he (the owner/moderator) wishes to keep most of the chat ? 2/ Secondly - is there any way of resetting the activity log back to the beginning of the count ? In effect to start again with the whole presentation. Barry

Technical new member question 5
We have a Pending New Member with a gmail. com email address who has attempted to join a group I support as Moderator/Owner. They have not confirmed account and their activity log says Non confirmed member attempted to send message (multiple times)including they tried to respond to the group's Pending Member letter. I understand that messages are not delivered until those steps are completed. I am wondering if icloud relay proxy is impacting the groups.io new member messaging requirements process. I am not an Apple or a Safari user but my search shows it is a a privacy system within Safari that relays internet interactions to mask the user IP address . Will this potential member have to disable proxy to join to confirm email address to groups.io and to respond to member questions? Thanks for your help - this is beyond my technical expertise. This indicator is prominent on the pending member's page ICLOUD_RELAY_PROX Julie

Reply to group keeps including the original message 16
Is there are setting so that the original message is automatically stripped from the reply? I suspect it might be because some people's email is set up to include original messages and I wont be able to change that so I am hoping groups.io lets me get it automated. Right no I am editing those messages to remove the original and it is not something I want to do. Thanks again for your help and the reminder to Read the Full Manual.

Pending message stay in owner box even after they have been approved 3
Thank you all for your help and patience with our questions. Our group just switched from only one reply option to all options available and its been a chaotic week as I learn the system and people respond to the change. All the messages that I approve and that are for "reply to group" are accumulating in my pending mail box. Can you direct me to the setting where I can have them go away once they are approved? Thanks.
