FT-857D vs. FT-991A
I'm seeking an opinion for a radio for portable use, something rugged. ¡¡ Would you say the FT-857D is a physically stronger, more heavy duty radio then the FT-991A or the FT-891 for that matter. ¡¡

Re: HAND MIKES NOT WORKING
Menu #59 should be set to NOR if you are using the stock mic. If you are using the MH-59, that setting should be set to RMT. Not setting #59 to RMT with the MH-59 will keep the additional functions

Re: HAND MIKES NOT WORKING
I had a problem with the Yaesu mic with the touch tone pad on it. It was getting RF into it. A simple ferrite would fix it.

Re: FT-857D and a mobile amplifier [Resolved]
My 857D works just fine with CAT cable connected to PC. RF can get in that cable though and mess up the unit. I have had to fully reset mine once due to RF blanking it out. Proper grounding and

Re: [SOLVED] Re: FT-857D not breaking 2m repeater squelch [SOLVED]
Cliff/Pete, That is a wild one, for sure. The CAT attributes for the FT-857D have been a true ¡°source of adventure¡± for me of late. I recently began using the Auxiliary Serial port. The AUX Serial

Re: 857D
Cliff, it could be related to the USB port, or the computer, or even the CAT cable. Or, it could be the relationship of the CAT circuitry and the CTCSS processor. It could a host of things and I don't

Windows 7. I am sure it has to do with the USB. But not sure what line is causing it. Not sure if I want to pursue anymore since it is working. LOL But maybe one day I will dissect the cable and see

Problem solved, thank you everyone for your responses. Some additional information that I should have disclosed in my original post: Both the amplifier and FT857D had recently been moved to the rear

Re: FT-857D not breaking 2m repeater squelch
If you have a HF antenna connected, try it on the VHF side. It actually should work surprisingly well. Also have your HT on the input frequency to make sure your signal makes it out.? Buzz KD4CXI
