That seems to be the only thing I did not try. Removing the CAT
(either from the radio or the PC) fixed the issue. Now why didn't
Yaesu put that into in the manual. Because no one bothered to put it
in the test documents. OK... so after all this time I am now able to
access the repeater. It was not an antenna issue (I thought that all
along because the HT was doing things the 857D was not). I was not a
CTCSS deviation or level issue. It was a CAT cable connected to the
PC that was the issue. If the PC is off then one does not need to
remove the CAT cable. Or, if one wants to keep the CAT cable on wants
to use the PC/Radio, then one need to go to menu item 20: CAT/LIN/TUN
and change it to LIN or TUN. Thanks again, Cliff. And again, thanks

What operating system are you using , I run Arch Linux with the cat
lead plugged in all the time and have no problems at all .
I do not have a machine with Mickyshaft installed to test
