Re: Leni conversion #3
I second that comment about the "component tester" Clay! 100% We should have a thread about inexpensive CDV-700 related test equipment. There are even inexpensive oscilloscopes and scope-meters out there. Re: Leni conversion #3
OK MichaelC. Don't dismay. You have a good housing, a good meter etc. Would you consider sending just the PCB to me and let me look at it?? Then you can move on to your next project but keep the housing meter etc. until I return the PCB or a different one for it. By the way, I can remove the switch, set the tension, polish it up and it will look and work like new! Also try to find ENi CDV-700's that have damaged or missing handles or probe clips for cheap. We'll talk off list about that. Lenox, if you're reading this you do the same. Good on the 1G Meter MichaelC! Tell you what, try removing the -15V diode, see what the HV does. Re: Leni conversion #3
Well, maybe not. If you are using a 1,000,000,000 Ohm ( 1G Ohm or 1000 M Ohm) input meter, yes. Otherwise if you use a typical 10M Ohm type meter, you won't get but maybe half the real reading. I am getting 3V to pin 6 of the transformer, per the schematic.? I am supposed to get 15V at R5 - only getting 5.6V.? ? and I have a question:? in the ENI manual on the schematic page, it gives a circle with a line through it - top numbers is volt and bottom number is range.? At R5 it has 15/25.? What is range 25?? ? I measure about 400V after the HV Diode and at the probe wire point on the board.?? so voltage falling off somewhere. |

There's a kit for that, but you're handy with tools, so best learn to do it yourself, especially of you might be doing many more for yourself or others. " I now have a happily buzzing transformer.? I still don't have HV to the probe - using a HV probe, I get nothing on the hot wire going to the probe." Start at the transformer leg, measure AC Volts there, then trace ot to the diode rectifier, where you should see +900V (is the HV rectifier in right way around?), if it's there, trace the PCB all the way to the white connector wire. Did you install the Zener stack? Is it the right way around? A picture would help too, when you get that far. Re: Leni conversion #3
Hi MichaelC. Have you reached the point in the LENi conversion where you take a hacksaw to the battery holder box? When you cut is in half, leave a little shelf at the meter end of the now 2 Cell holder to mount future accessories like a Speak2Me module. Naturally you direct wire it in, leaving wires long enough to remove the box and the LENi still has power. see: https://www.qsl.net/k0ff/Leni_Article_eBay_Ver/Geiger%20Counters%20in%20the%20Ham%20Shack-2019.docx From: "Michael C" <mtcooper01@...> To: "CDV700CLUB" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, May 13, 2022 11:44:27 AM Subject: Re: [CDV700CLUB] Leni conversion #3 Ok,?
