Germanium 68 calibration source missing from NJ 8
So these are the drones you are looking for. Less than a Cat3 amount. Cat4 if the enclosure is still intact. Used to calibrate PET/CT scanners https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/12/u-s-nuclear-regulatory-commission-releases-report-confirming/ https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/event-status/event/2024/20241212en.html#en57455

Lack of Groups Activity for a Long Time... 12
Dear Group Members, I haven't seen any activity on the groups (GeigerCounters, CDV700CLUB, and GammaSpectroscopy) since late September and mid October. What's going on? Thanks. ~Cliff

You could try the output of a cheap hand held bug zapper. Buy one the uses 2 AA batteries. The output has to be limited by the manufacturer for human safety. CDV700s use less than 5 micro amps of current. You need a capacitor to smooth the pulses from the zapper and probably some zener diodes turned backwards to drop the voltage to around 900vdc. You need to limit the voltage on an ENI anyway. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285622332995 $14 from a US seller. This is a ready made circuit that will replace the entire tube driving circuit on any CDV. Up to 1000vdc out from 3 to 5 volts in. More than 10 available.

Free CD V-700 Parts (You Pay Shipping) 6
Moving to a smaller house, already got rid of my Lionel CD V700 and I am not left with a small bag of original parts. Some of the parts are just simple components like resistors from the original built, but have a few other small replacement parts that were given to me a few years back and never used. There is some kind of little transformer, a couple little tubes with the radiation sign on them (can't remember what these are for). I also have a meter, that seems to be stuck, if it can be repaired it has a very clean face. I didn't want to toss these as they are possibly useful to someone. If anybody wants them, they are free for the asking, just pay the shipping... which I estimated to be around $12 USD from Canada to the US. A photo of the parts is here: https://imgur.com/a/Oo9H5p3

I need a LND 725 Geiger tube and thought that I would ask this list before buying one from LND just in case someone had one that they would part with.

Landers, Frary and Clark CD V-715 Retrofit 4
It was discovered that the Victoreen CD V-715, in order to improve calibration stability, had to be modified slightly and a procedure was provided. We have the document for the procedure. The Victoreen CD V-715's sold on eBay can be compared against that document to verify that they have been retrofit I've recently seen a number of photos of CD V-715's made by Landers, Frary and Clark on eBay, stamped with an "R" to indicate a retrofit that have a capacitor soldered to the foil side of the printed circuit board but nowhere in my research have I come across anything that says that the LFC 715's were retrofit. I own one that does not have the capacitor or the "R". I am reaching out to the community for the lost Landers, Frary and Clark CD V-715 Retrofit Procedure document. Is anyone aware of a retrofit for the LFC survey meters? Clint

Need pulse generator 5
_ I have a Bicron Surveyor 2000 that I would like to pulse calibrate. Does anyone in the Dallas, Texas, area have a pulse generator that I could use to calibrate this instrument? I estimate that it would take about twenty minutes to do it. Thanks for your consideration. Lenox Carruth _,_._,_

JOHN E FAST 7
All, Please excuse me if this is not the right place for this but there appear to be no discussion groups for the CD survey meters. Does anyone know if the John E Fast capacitors are susceptible to moisture and should be replaced? They appear in both the CD V-715 and CD V-717 survey meters. Thanks, Clint

ENI meter source 13
Hello, I just got another shiny new, clean ENI 700 in mint condition and while the circuit seems to be working the meter stops around 200 CPM as if it is hitting something. I know the high-range meter with the R/hr scale is the OCD-M-151. Is there a similar OCD number for the ENI meter? The book says it's a Weston 100201-M. Since the ENI attaches directly to the circuit board the spacing between the posts is critical. Substituting a Victoreen meter will not work. I've had no luck searching the Weston part number. Does anyone know the OCD number? Thanks, Clint

Golden ENI 2
don't everyone jump on it at once.. there is a $1,250 ENI on E-Pay. Can't tell if it's plated in gold or what but must be something special at $1,250. ;) https://www.ebay.com/itm/144812439391?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ZAxdCcCrQq-&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=punt3lqcrjm&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

cdv700 probe 11
I have a Victoreen 6A with a damaged probe wire and I'm looking at repairing it. Does anyone know what material is used between the geiger tube and the tube socket inside the probe? Is it required for some reason? Clint

Newbie at this, how do you calibrate the CD V700? 14
I was looking at the Victoreen CD V700 I just got back going and was wondering exactly how do you calibrate these? Check source seems to not be the right way to go because I don't have a clue how active it is compared to when it was made. I read something about pulsers. Is that what I'm supposed to do, connect a pulser to the probe anode lead? How does that work?

Probe voltage and calibration. 4
All, Does the voltage applied to the geiger tube have a significant effect on the calibration if it is within the operating range or 'plateau'? For the LND720, if I were to correct 950V down to 900V is recalibration required? Clint

GeoRe: [CDV700CLUB] Probe voltage and calibration.
No it doesn't Clint but there are many other factors to consider.
