Digipeating with Kenwood TM D710 6
Hi All, I am trying to get my Kenwood D710 to Digipeat. When looking at the D710 port log, I get the following: WinMain:2025-01-12T18:11:34.370 DigiPeating Not Supported on KWD710(Pkt) Protocol Ports Any ideas of what is going on? I am using the built in D710 TNC. Thank you Facundo

ANSRVR Relocated
I've been trying my best to keep APRS Foundation-related activity confined to our new group on 开云体育 (/g/aprsfoundation); occasionally, we encounter information and news important enough to warrant wider distribution. That said - I have some exciting news to share... I did some sleuthing with Paul, Lynn's son(KJ4ERJ—SK), to determine where Lynn hosted ANSRVR. We found it! To make a long story short, ANSRVR officially moved to a new server yesterday morning. For you IT propeller heads (like myself), some details about the server: OS: Windows Server 2022 Datacenter vCPU: 2 Memory: 4 GB Storage: 100 GB NVMe SSD Location: Chicago, IL Thanks so much! 73 for now! -JeffH

Instruction review 7
Good afternoon. You may have seen the posts from Glen, KB0RPJ. Our ARES group was exercising APRS group messaging during our Blizzard Warning. I am working on an instructional document for APRS including: Winlink pending mail notification SMS texting Group messaging Are there features beyond these 3 to include? I am not being exhaustive (such as instructions for send/receiving WINLINK via APRS). Just trying to get operators to expand their APRS functionality & use. I would be interested in reviews of the attachment for accuracy & clarity. Thank you. Joe

Objects 2
Is there a way to just beacon objects & not your callsign? I am currently just using the app on my pc. No radio hooked up. I mainly wanted to beacon an object to the maps. The repeater here & some information in the beacon txt. But when I beacon the object 145.330- my callsign is next to it. So it makes it harder to see unless you zoom way in. For now ive just separated some distance from the object & my callsign. But I was curious if there was a way to just omit the callsign. Especially since I'm not doing direct RF. Or is what I'm doing about the only thing to do?

dev version server 13
(branching off to keep the source code thread clean) I see in message (/g/APRSISCE/message/37609) a reference to “check for server” in a log file, where the user wasn’t able to check for a new version. The server in questions was aprsisce.dnsalias.net. The dnsalias.net service is a way to get a permanent hostname for a dynamic IP address like you’d have for home internet. At this moment, aprsisce.dnsalias.net resolves to 68.205.53.159, which is the IP someone reported as unreachable. Based on this, I think there’s a computer inside Lynn’s home that is turned off, perhaps his development machine. Or perhaps the service in the house is powered off. Good afternoon. I was setting up a digi based on a RPI and was curious what the standard is for specifying the antenna gain as part of the PHG. Is it Dbi or Dbd? Thanks and 73, Tim KB2MFS

New hams
Would you send me the email of any new hams that you know that would receive free ham gear from KJ4ERJ SK? I received many pieces of equipment from living hams and would like to pass on the tradition, but finding those who don't have everything yet is nearly impossible. This can also include you or not-so-new hams, I am not particular, if you are interested, reply to me directly. Please don't click reply (to the list). Paul KJ4DXK@...

My signal not decoded 7
Dear all I am using IC9700 radio with Gpredict with rig control for APRS decoding in ISS satellite passes. I am using UISS software and UZ7HO sound modem. Also using APRSE32 software. In the sound modem settings, I am using usb audio codec as input device and output device. When I send a text message my message is not decoded and not hearing my tx signals. But I am getting rx . I have checked the radio settings and uiss settings and sound modem settings with one of my friends whose signals are decoded. I could not find any issue. Can anyone suggest a solution. Office open for business almost as usual
Following the funeral of our late friend and group owner for his wonderful creation APRSISCE32, As far as I am aware and I have not been informed otherwise everything went as planned. Although Lynn's Son Paul was in touch almost up to the last moment, cummunications were brief. Lynn Deffenbaughs aprsisce program got a good work out, As wx conditions were favorable for a fleet of space shuttle's I had hoped to have all five in missing man formation as I did for Roger Barker (G4IDE SK) author of UIView32. Unfortunately, and this is a memory issue for me, I had not thought to practice in advance because I always found it easy to do, I left this until I thought the appropriate moment, as I hit the launch button a shooting star crossed the map at his late fathers place of rest. Bingo! lift off was accomplished, My screw up was using a button in Icons that displays multiple Icons saving lots of hard work,(But unfamiliar with how it actually worked!) anyone who saw this on their map was done with the kind permission of Paul Deffenbaugh KJ4DXK. I have asked Paul privately to take the time to grieve and not show up for work on this group, from personal experience ...time is a great healer! I for one have been hit hard and I am sure I am far from being alone at this time, I am not a very religeous chap but I do understand the comfort a service brings to one and all, and I confess that at the time the Repose commenced the cloud of doom in my head started to lift. I as I have said before make no apology for these lengthy posts, but from today they will cease. Below is a screen grab taken from my view of the cemetery and church where Lynn Deffenbaugh was laid to rest. RIP my long time friend, I hope he uses his IS manual that KJ4DXK assures me he is already reading on his journey. RIP Lynn Deffenbaugh KJ4ERJ SK , May you live long in our memories until we meet again! If I do I want back pay with a 2% increase!.....Farewell Sir! End special message

The Passing of Lynn Deffenbaugh KJ4ERJ (SK) THIS STATION NOW CLOSING FOR 24 HOURS, RIP my friend!
I have been asked by Paul Deffenbaugh KJ4DXK our new group owner and taking over from a highly regarded friend Lynn KJ4ERJ SK to repost daily the family request in the memory of their Late Husband and father to a worthy cause. I am including with Paul's original post an additional link link for and labelled single donation button, this is below and plain to see. We owe Lynn an enormous amount of thanks and gratitude for the work he put into APRS, I would also point out that Lynn Deffenbaugh KJ4ERJ SK was active in many other reflectors. If anyone in those reflectors requires any further additional information, Please let me field them on Behalf of Paul and his family until the right time comes. We have new members joining all the time, and I know some will hear this sad news and Family request for the very first time, to that end, I make no apologies for repeating this message, On Fri, Dec 6, 2024 at 3:45 PM P D via groups.io <kj4dxk@...> wrote: With heavy hearts, we invite you to pray for the repose of Lynn's soul. IGATE not forwarding to RF 13
Hello everyone. Computer: Lenovo M720 mini OS: Windows 10 Pro Software: APRSICE32, UzZ7HO sound modem Radio: Kenwood TM201B Interface: Rigblaster Pro. I am running an IGATE on the above equipment and am having some issues with the IGATE not passing messages to RF. For instance; I use my FT5D to send a message to my buddy that also use a FTM500 but the message stays on the IGATE same thing happens when he sends to me, both of us are always in range of the IGATE, but if I send from radio to someone using APRSDROID the messages reaches them and I get replies from them, the messages just won't go from radio to radio, could I be missing something, anyone has a fix for this and willing to share I certainly will appreciate it. 9Y4C

KJ4ERJ - Silent Key 27
All, Lynn - KJ4ERJ - author of APRSIS32/CE, passed away. We don't have any more information right now. I'm in a state of shock. I'm not even sure what to think. I still have tears in my eyes, so I will keep this short. I was just on our monthly APRS Foundation executive team call with John Tarbox (WA1KLI) and John Langner (WB2OSZ). John T. got a phone call from Lynn's wife with the news. He was one of the nicest people I've ever met, and I considered him a great friend! The APRS Foundation and the APRS community worldwide know of Lynn's contributions to ham radio. His mark will never be forgotten. I was just looking through the history on this group and it looks like it's been a few days since he posted. We will keep you posted as we learn more, but I thought it important to let you know as soon as possible. Please keep his family in your prayers. -- APRS Foundation - Ensuring the Future of APRS!
