Re: Parrafin vs. Beeswax
Jim,
Got a chance to open my saw today... and yes, there were a lot of chips
on and around the wheels. I don't know if these will effect the
operation of the saw. Seems that I had these chips with

Re: Parrafin vs. Beeswax
Many do cut dry. I'm' 50-50: if it's a "large" piece, I'll lube with
wax, else I'll let it go as is. I'd love to have a mess-less drip
system, but the setup would probably be too much for my

Bandsaw Blade Choice
I purchased a couple lennox diemaster II blades the last time I was
at the tool shop. Today I broke the last of my old blades and mounted
one. I was sawing 2 1/4 square hot roll solid for a tool

Today I bit the bullet and purchased a 4x6HF saw. Started putting it

with a straight edge and move them both out to clear the

Re: new saw
Hmmm.... part #59?
In one manual, PN 59 is the rear blade cover. In another, it is a 1/4
inch washer.
If no one else has a clue, perhaps you can give a description of the
part.

Re: new saw
Leo after I posted I thought about describing the part. My manual
calls it a bracelet. It's 1" wide 5 5/8" long a 90 deg bend 1" long
with a threaded screw. The long side is slotted 3/8" x 3 1/4".

Re: new saw
From your description, I think I know what it is. The 4x6 saws can be
used in the vertical position. When in the vertical mode, a work surface
plate is mounted on the lower blade guide assembly. It

Re: new saw
Jim,
Don't forget to check the worm gear housing for sand. It's been
reported that some have sand and other crud mixed with the gear lube.
I checked mine and did not find this condition, but it's

Gear Help
Today I picked up a 4x6 with a bad gear. I'm guessing the owner
overtightened the blade. The worm gear "ate" a hole into the gear on
the blade pulley drive shaft. The former owner also gave me

Re: Digest Number 47
I would assume there's some type of keyway holding the gear to the
shaft, if not a setscrew? Either way, see if you can get hold of an
automotive gearpuller (rent or, of course, HF has 'em)

Belt and Pulleys
I recently purchased a used 4x6 bandsaw. Its missing a few parts,
including the V-belt and both pulleys.
I was hoping someone might be willing to measure the diameter of each
