Faulty VFO encoder repaired
Try to keep it short. Bought a radio with duff encoder, 6 pin FFC connector badly damaged by a previous owner. Sent tiny board away to a guy to replace the connector so could then fault find with a breakout board. One of the 74HC single inverters was faulty ,so the off to the smd guy again with spare inverters, came back fitted now have good encoder. Was using the radio via remote software & fist mic to get by. R1CBU Firmware - FT8 3
OK - following on from the FT8 questions.. For some reason, since this morning, I have not been able to get more that 2w out on FT8 / FT4 and when tuning the ATU. I have tried updating the X6100's base firmware and also created another R1CBU Firmware disk (multiple SD cards used) which does not overcome the problem. If I run the native firmware everything seems to work OK and the output levels are normal - But as soon as I boot into the R1CBU Firmware things do not seem to work as they used to. I have also noticed that the "Output Power Reduced to 5W" message is missing. Can someone suggest a fix please ?

TX not working with FT8 4
My X6100 stopped TXing when using FT8. I've tried WSJTX and MSHV, using FLRIG and Hamlib. I've also tried Factory Reset and reinstalled the 1.19/1.18 firmware from Radioddity. Any suggestions? Has the R1CBU firmware solved this issue for anyone? Thanks for any help! Tony KE1TLG

How to preserve personal settings between R1CBU firmware upgrades? 7
I have a question... I upgraded to v0.28 and love it a lot. But every time I upgrade I have to redo all my settings. I understand that there's a way to backup and then reload my settings... Someone suggested backing up ¡°data¡±? Can somebody give a summary on how to do that? Would be grateful... redoing it every time is no fun. 73, Randy K7RAN P.S. I previously buried this question in a barely-related thread and got no traction, so I thought it better to create a topic.

Firmware 1.1.9 - lower Buttons problem
Yesterday I updated to firmware 1.1.9 but now the lower buttons have a malfunction. If I press RADIO SETTING1 the SYSTEM SETTING menu appears.. if I press EXIT .. the RADIO SETTING1 menu appears regularly. If I press RADIO SETTING2 the MEMORY menu appears.. if I press EXIT RADIO SETTING2 appears regularly. Unfortunately, as regards the CW menu (KEY button) now the two buttons on the left do not work correctly and I cannot change the type of button or speed. If instead I connect a mouse to the USB port and select the various menus from the display .. everything works regularly. I also tried to do a FACTORY RESET and return to the old firmware (1.1.7) but the problem remains. Has this happened to anyone of you?

Radio gets noise on RX when on Battery Alternative Firmware v0.28.0 4
I have a strong noise on all bands when using Battery with Alternative Firmware v0.028.0 -Problem is shown on RX. -I don't see that on TX but I hear my own voice on the speaker if I call SSB. Monitoring level is at 0. -Shows up at beginning of the band and at the end. -With or without antenna. -Noise goes to minimal, but still there, when the screen dims out after a few seconds not touching the VFO or any button in the radio. -Goes up again, as soon as I wake up the radio by touching the VFO or any other button. -Goes off as soon as I plug in the external power. In brief: The problem is not there or does not show up if using external power. With Battery the radio shows 7.8V on the screen. With external power shows 13.6V on the screen Happens in all bands. Not happening with standard Xiegu Firmware App V1.1.9 Sept 14 2024 12:11:57, Base V1.1.8 Sept 15 2024, 15:22:37 I made a video that shows the problem live for you to see. https://youtu.be/XdiwwfN7SaQ?si=tI2m65yM3MIVTpec Suggestions what could be happening are welcome. 73 Rob YS1RS

R1CBU
Hi Gang, I'm loving the R1CBU et al firmware running on a memory card. Since I started playing with it I've logged 288 FT8 contacts. It's surprising what 5 watts can do and it will be great for POTA and other uses. No extra toys other than an antenna required. Thanks to all who worked on this project and continue working. 73, Gregg W9DHI

Setting FT8 with firmware v0.28.0 2
Hello, everyone, I need a little help. To be honest I've only been using the x6100 on CW but as I'll probably be taking a few days holiday I'd like to do FT8 with firmware v0.28.0. I have everything configured and everything seems to work very well in reception... but I can't get it to transmit. It doesn't seem to take the impulse to go to transmit (the TC tag appears). I guess it's stupid but I've tried several ways and can't get it to transmit. I also looked for a manual but couldn't find it Thanks in advance for any indication 73 Mauro HB9FBG

X-6100 and Xiegu XPA125B 6
I have a newbie question for the users here who have both th X-6199 and the XPA125B. I bought the X-6100 a few months ago and have been doing very well with 10 Watts but decided to treat myself to an early Christmas present, the XPA125B. With 1/2 watt in I'm getting 80 or 90 watts out or so. Its working good. My question is when I'm in bypass mode is it ok to use 10W into the amp on bypass and not cause damage to the amp? My second question and an observation, with the amp powered OFF and using 10 watts I'm not seeing but a few watts out to the antenna not the full 10W I have the X-6100 set to. Do I need to always have the amp powered on and in bypass mode to use just 10 watts? Thank you in advance. Terry W5HEX

Radio very noisy on Tx on battery 3
Hi everyone, My Xiegu X6100 has a very weird issue. If it's running on an external power supply it works fine but if it's working on battery then it makes an unbearable noise on Tx. I recorded a small video demonstrating the problem: https://youtu.be/zLPMF49BUNc?si=7_R9UALdXroRZwcs Does anybody have any idea what could be the issue? Any tips appreciated. Thank you, and 73. R1CBU FT8 4
Just wondering if the signal reports on FT8 are correct or is it just the software is not able to decode below -11. -11 seems to be the weakest signals I can receive. If I switch and run WSJT I can get decoded reports of -22. Inquiring minds would like to know. However I just love be able to run FT8 and FT4 in a single radio unit including logging. Love it and use it a lot. 73, Gregg W9DHI

(Official) firmware update to 1.1.9 - severe error (bricked rig?) 6 #firmware
Hi, I just tried to upgrade the FW from installed version App V1.1.7 Aug 25 2023, 15:09:46 BASE V1.1.6 Mar 07 2023, 09:57:03 to APP: V1.1.9 Sep 14 2024,12:11:57 BASE: V1.1.8 Sep 15 2024,15:22:37 I followed the instruction published by XIEGU and by radioddity and so formatted an SD-card (16GB), inserted it into the X6100 (connected to mains) and switched on.. Boot from the card seemed to work (text prompts appeared like expected) and the display then announced a system shutdown like "3sec...2sec...1sec ... 0sec" After this I powered off the rig. I then removed the SD and restarted the rig. But the display remained dark (the green LED is on) ... since several minutes no change. Any attempt to re-boot with a new writen SD card carrying older or current FW versions are without success. The LED starts to steadily glow green, but the screen remains black, I am afraid that the rig is bricked... Can anybody help me please? Best regards! Rolf Trossen, DL1NDR

STM32 MCU port damaged used to read the CW key input 5 #development #firmware
Situation: Due to a partially torn CW key jack (ground pins) caused by the coupling of another transceiver, the protection circuit at the key input (implemented with a double TVS diode) and a MCU port on the STM32 were damaged. I have following Options: Buy a new X6100 Replace the STM32 MCU chip Replace the entire mainboard with the STM32 (still looking for a source for this). The challenge is, regardless of whether I replace the chip or receive a replacement board from the factory without firmware, I need to program the baseband firmware for the STM32. For sure, I need the firmware. Questions: Can the STM32 baseband firmware be flashed under all circumstances using the official update process with SD-Card (e.g. the internal bootloader of the STM32 is used)? Or is a proprietary bootloader required in the STM32? If a proprietary bootloader is required, where can you obtain it and where is the programming interface located on the STM32 mainboard? Is this the programming interface? Maybe someone here can help or has a contact who can assist with the problem?

X6100 internal battery charge plot
Today I was curious to see how the X6100 internal battery voltage and charge vary over time when charging the battery from almost empty to full. Since those values are available on the second serial port from the STM32 MCU (which can be accessed as '/dev/ttyACM1' on my Linux desktop), I wrote a simple Python scipt to monitor those values and write them to file along with a timestamp. I then ran a full charge for about 9 hours from about 8am to past 5pm; during that charge the LED next to the power button was always solid green (it was never blinking, and honestly I don't really think it matters as long as it is on). After that, I wrote another Python script to plot the battery voltage (in mV) and charge (in mAh) for the duration of the charge: The Python scripts I wrote are attached in case someone wants to report what they see with their battery. Volume lower than I remember (???) 3
Ok, I'm even doubting my sanity (or at least memory)... But it seems to me that the radio doesn't seem as _loud_ as I remember it being. The Volume setting caps out at "55" (which is an artificial metric, I realize). Does everyone's setting top off at "55" or is there something nefarious afoot going on here ¡ª other than my sanity (or memory). Is there a way to make the radio louder through the speaker? I'm using the latest R1CBU (v0.28) firmware. 73, Randy K7RAN
