X-6100 and Xiegu XPA125B
6
I have a newbie question for the users here who have both th X-6199 and the XPA125B. I bought the X-6100 a few months ago and have been doing very well with 10 Watts but decided to treat myself to an early Christmas present, the XPA125B. With 1/2 watt in I'm getting 80 or 90 watts out or so. Its working good. My question is when I'm in bypass mode is it ok to use 10W into the amp on bypass and not cause damage to the amp? My second question and an observation, with the amp powered OFF and using 10 watts I'm not seeing but a few watts out to the antenna not the full 10W I have the X-6100 set to. Do I need to always have the amp powered on and in bypass mode to use just 10 watts? Thank you in advance. Terry W5HEX

Radio very noisy on Tx on battery
3
Hi everyone, My Xiegu X6100 has a very weird issue. If it's running on an external power supply it works fine but if it's working on battery then it makes an unbearable noise on Tx. I recorded a small video demonstrating the problem: https://youtu.be/zLPMF49BUNc?si=7_R9UALdXroRZwcs Does anybody have any idea what could be the issue? Any tips appreciated. Thank you, and 73. R1CBU FT8
4
Just wondering if the signal reports on FT8 are correct or is it just the software is not able to decode below -11. -11 seems to be the weakest signals I can receive. If I switch and run WSJT I can get decoded reports of -22. Inquiring minds would like to know. However I just love be able to run FT8 and FT4 in a single radio unit including logging. Love it and use it a lot. 73, Gregg W9DHI

I have tried the 4m band but it does not allow me to move from a 71,000 MHz frequency and it does not allow me to edit the mode on the web. Enviado con Mailsuite · Darse de baja 11/12/24, 08:45:38

RTTY shifts
Some commercial stations use 450hz shift so might be worth adding

(Official) firmware update to 1.1.9 - severe error (bricked rig?)
6
#firmware
Hi, I just tried to upgrade the FW from installed version App V1.1.7 Aug 25 2023, 15:09:46 BASE V1.1.6 Mar 07 2023, 09:57:03 to APP: V1.1.9 Sep 14 2024,12:11:57 BASE: V1.1.8 Sep 15 2024,15:22:37 I followed the instruction published by XIEGU and by radioddity and so formatted an SD-card (16GB), inserted it into the X6100 (connected to mains) and switched on.. Boot from the card seemed to work (text prompts appeared like expected) and the display then announced a system shutdown like "3sec...2sec...1sec ... 0sec" After this I powered off the rig. I then removed the SD and restarted the rig. But the display remained dark (the green LED is on) ... since several minutes no change. Any attempt to re-boot with a new writen SD card carrying older or current FW versions are without success. The LED starts to steadily glow green, but the screen remains black, I am afraid that the rig is bricked... Can anybody help me please? Best regards! Rolf Trossen, DL1NDR

STM32 MCU port damaged used to read the CW key input
5
#development
#firmware
Situation: Due to a partially torn CW key jack (ground pins) caused by the coupling of another transceiver, the protection circuit at the key input (implemented with a double TVS diode) and a MCU port on the STM32 were damaged. I have following Options: Buy a new X6100 Replace the STM32 MCU chip Replace the entire mainboard with the STM32 (still looking for a source for this). The challenge is, regardless of whether I replace the chip or receive a replacement board from the factory without firmware, I need to program the baseband firmware for the STM32. For sure, I need the firmware. Questions: Can the STM32 baseband firmware be flashed under all circumstances using the official update process with SD-Card (e.g. the internal bootloader of the STM32 is used)? Or is a proprietary bootloader required in the STM32? If a proprietary bootloader is required, where can you obtain it and where is the programming interface located on the STM32 mainboard? Is this the programming interface? Maybe someone here can help or has a contact who can assist with the problem?

Maybe this has been answered but I'll ask. The FT8 Contacts logging in the R1BCU firmware, how do I retrieve the contact log and download it to my pc? Thanks, Gregg

X6100 internal battery charge plot
Today I was curious to see how the X6100 internal battery voltage and charge vary over time when charging the battery from almost empty to full. Since those values are available on the second serial port from the STM32 MCU (which can be accessed as '/dev/ttyACM1' on my Linux desktop), I wrote a simple Python scipt to monitor those values and write them to file along with a timestamp. I then ran a full charge for about 9 hours from about 8am to past 5pm; during that charge the LED next to the power button was always solid green (it was never blinking, and honestly I don't really think it matters as long as it is on). After that, I wrote another Python script to plot the battery voltage (in mV) and charge (in mAh) for the duration of the charge: The Python scripts I wrote are attached in case someone wants to report what they see with their battery. Volume lower than I remember (???)
3
Ok, I'm even doubting my sanity (or at least memory)... But it seems to me that the radio doesn't seem as _loud_ as I remember it being. The Volume setting caps out at "55" (which is an artificial metric, I realize). Does everyone's setting top off at "55" or is there something nefarious afoot going on here — other than my sanity (or memory). Is there a way to make the radio louder through the speaker? I'm using the latest R1CBU (v0.28) firmware. 73, Randy K7RAN

With R1CBU how do I download my logs to my computer. I'm not sure where they are? Thanks in advance, Gregg W9DHI

Root access after firmware update.
11
Just purchased an X6100 after previous one blew up. Unfortunately it has the latest firmware APP 1.1.9 Base 1.1.8. I can no longer login using either WinSCP or PuTTY I have downgraded to all previous firmware and app versions and the problem is still there. WinSCP hangs on Connecting to host then displays Network Error. Software caused connection abort. PuTTY comes up with the same error. Could they have changed something to make root impossible? Would really love to get the 160Hz firmware and open tx in there. Any help would be appreciated.

R1CBU firmware 0.27.0 WATERFALL station labels
2
Hi Greg, I added an issue on Git but wonder what other may make of this idea? Hi Greg, I am suggesting the ability for the UI to read a disc based station file and populate labels on the waterfall in a way like a regular WEB SDR. This may allow a script to obtain live station data for broadcast radio from sources like shortwave- and radio reference or display saved memories on the WF etc. As you have now made such an amazing job of making the radio a joy on AM SWL, the ability to live pull on air stations would be a massive boost for the radio in my opinion. A script could be setup to pull data to a file, if the UI could pull that and display it on the WF. There are any number of other ways to refine it, but as a baseline that would be good. Cheers Scot

DroidSSTV
2
On the off chance anybody has used the DroidSSTV android app on a Samsung phone ( a Note 8 in my case) coupled with their X6100, has anybody been able to redirect the app's audio-out to the phone's usb-C port. My current setup uses a usb-C to usb-C/A OTG splitter with the C side to the radio's DEV port and the A side to the phone charger. Unlike the FT8CN app, which has CAT and also pipes the app's audio directly to the DEV port (when using the radio's USB-D setting), the DroidSSTV app has no CAT (not a big deal) and doesn't seem able to redirect the app's audio to the phone's usb-c port. The workaround is to key the mic and hold it close to the phone's speaker and it works fine but it would be nice to be able just key the mic and not have to hold it to the phone. The app's help file doesn't address it. I'm guessing it's just a limitation of the app itself but I thought I'd throw it out there to see it anybody else uses the app. Thanks, Bob K1FRA

Replacement Internal Battery
18
Although I haven't yet taken my X6100 apart I suspect that the battery has taken a dump. The radio will boot, and after a minute or so, quicker if I key the microphone, it will shut off. It doesn't matter how long I leave it on charge. The radio works fine on an external battery, but it would be nice to have the capability to run off the internal battery. Can anyone tell me if they've done such a replacement, and where did you purchase the battery? Radioddity says there are no replacement batteries for the radio. Anyone?? Leonard/WV3P

X6100 mod: removable batteryICOM 705/ X6200 style
2
Hi I would like to mod my X6100 in such a way that it accepts a HT-battery pack (Quansheng k5 3800 mAh, USB-C chargeable, for instance) at the back. Same thing as the X6200 or ICOM 705 already have. Needed for this mod (IMHO) is a 3d printed battery-mount/connector that accepts a HT battery, etc, and can replace the original back plate/intenal batteries. It would be nice if the new 3D printeted back-plate also includes space for a small internal fan (inside airflow for efficient forced cooling). Now my problem: I do have some electronic skills, but don't have the skills to design this for a 3D printer ;-( but if anyone has done this already or is working on this idea: could you please share the project here? -- Robert
