Speaker to Line Out Adapter

Hey! ?As the X6100 doesn¡¯t have a Line Out jack, I would like to plug into the 3.5 mm Speaker jack and convert it to a Line Out for sound mixing, e.g. some type of LOC. ?Anyone know of something commercially available that I can just plug in?

Again! All this is done automatically when the system boots. It is enough to use a card reader to put the file in the DATA (FAT!) partition and boot the device.
Many people can¡¯t even cope with this, let alone unpack the archive and write it to the rootfs (Ext4!) partition

One of the users wrote that he managed to apply a patch by Windows.
Perhaps he will make a video on this topic.

Re: Patch version 0.20.1 #R1CBU-Firmware

Hi all.

What works for me:
The patch contains two files.
params.db?? ( cksum gives 36801094 61440 ./mnt/params.db)
I'm putting this in the root of the DATA partition.

There's also a binary executable file in this patch
x6100_gui? (checksum gives 3771406088 4180240 ./usr/sbin/x6100_gui )
I put this one in the rootfs partition to replace rootfs/usr/sbin/x6100_gui

It's working for me.

Thanks Oleg !

Re: Patch version 0.20.1 #R1CBU-Firmware

I figured it out for Windows 10/11. Downloaded a program called
winscp, connect to the x6100 via lan. I have a usb-c to Rj-45
network interface adapter.
Login as root/123 with winscp and transferred the .tgz file to the
root folder.
Then login using putty ssh and type " tar -xvf [filenam.tgz]" to
unpack it. Then reboot.

The SD card has 3 partitions: Boot, DATA, rootfs. You need the partition where the params.db file is already located

Firmware update 20230831 [fix cat] - broke external power sensing

Updating to the latest firmware became a huge headache. After flashing into the X6100 the radio stopped RXing or TXing. All multi-function buttons worked but the TX button would not. Several attempts produced same results. Worked backward to flash in previous firmware versions and finally got to one that restored the regular functions and worked fine. having spent several hours working on this I gave up on doing any things else and just hit the airwaves for the rest of the day.

??????????????? Move forward to the next day¡

I decided to try again and the most current FW version (20230831 [fix cat]) flashed in, loaded up first try and worked mostly great. Everything seems to be working except the external 13.8v power supply is not being recognized by the radio.

This power supply was being used on this radio before the FW update but now the radio is not ¡°seeing¡± it. Tested the power supply and cable ¨C all good. Power supply works great with other radios, just not on the X6100. The standard 110/115v charger works normally on the X6100. When turning on the radio after, the new ¡°power on init ¨C please wait¡± screen goes away the radio momentarily displays 13.8v then drops to 8.0v or below if on battery (as expected) or 12.0v if the wall charger is plugged in (as expected). If the power supply is plugged in it flashes the 13.8v as stated then drops to 8.0v or below. The radio battery voltage then decreases as expected if it were running on battery eventually depleting the battery, even though the external power supply is plugged in, it is just not being recognized by the radio.

Without the X6100 seeing the external power supply I can no longer increase above 5w or work for very long until battery is depleted and I also will not be able to do anymore firmware updates if the instructions require ¡°plug into 13.8w power before attempting FW updates¡±.

Has anyone else experienced this or something similar or anyone have any ideas on why the power supply is not being seen and how to fix it?

?

Did not work at first ¨C currently mostly working -

Re: Patch version 0.20.1 #R1CBU-Firmware

There is a windows program called WinSCP () that you can use to transfer the file to the X6100 as long as you have the X6100 on your network, such as with a USB Ethernet or WiFi interface.

You'll want to use the following login details:
File Protocol: SFTP
Hostname: [The IP address of the X6100]
Port Number: 22
User name: root
Password: 123

After you have transferred the file, ssh (using Putty or your favorite SSH client) as root to the X6100 and unzip/untar to the root dir with this command:

gunzip -c x6100_r1cbu_0.20.1.tgz | tar xf - -C /

Then restart your radio.

Re: Patch version 0.20.1 #R1CBU-Firmware

Ok. I don't have a linux system to read the sd.? Is there a windows app that can see the linux partitions and if there is do I copy the .tgz compressed file or on pack it and transfer the files within?

tks

I'm always surprised to see that so many radio hams still use Windows, surely not the best OS for technical matters that we OMs deal with.

Worked well using Linux Mint. Windows wants to format the card since one of the partitions is unreadable. A good reason to keep a Linux machine around, even if you normally use Windows.

There are two most common FAT partitions on the SD card. It's a surprise to me that Windows can't handle this!

When installing the patch, the params.db settings file is reinstalled. This is necessary to add 6m band for FT8/FT4

Re: Patch version 0.20.1 #R1CBU-Firmware

OK, the Micro SD is not formatted for Windows.
You use your Windows computer together with a tool called Balena Etcher only to image the SD card, but the format in the card is not Windows.
At least, on my laptop I don't see any file structure in there. in fact, my Windows computer is asking me to Format the card, which I don't do. If I do, will destroy Oleg's firmware.
So, what I did, was to install the Micro SD card on my small Inovato Quadra computer. Using the Inovato Quadra, It is Linux.
I was able to "see" the correct file structure that exist on the Micro SD card, including the DATA folder.
Using the web browser, on the Inovato Quadra, downloaded the file from Oleg's site and drop the file in the Micro SD "Data" folder.
Took the SD card out of the Inovato Quadra and installed it on my Xiegu X6100 and turned it on.
First time it frozen booting up with only the "Wolf singing to the moon" logo and got stuck there.
Shut it down and restarted again. This time it booted up correctly.
Checked all the features that Oleg mentions on his message and all is now working fine.
Since I have a small USB keyboard, I had previously input My Grid Square and Call sign but I noticed that data as been erased from the radio.
Same with the CW messages I had already recorded. All gone! I guess it was part of the mod???
I had to input again the same data, but this time, I did it with the screen keyboard and worked fine. That part was solved.
Checked FT8 and FT4 on 6 meters and it was also working. Have not used it yet to make contacts. Still don't know how to use those modes in this radio.
I use a laptop for that. Will try and then, if convinced, may start using this feature of Oleg's firmware.
Went down to 500KHz and was also working.

Too bad the bands allocations according to your region 1,2 or 3 are not selectable. That would have been nice. Maybe on Oleg's radio project he is working on will be complete with this feature.
Was and excellent idea.

Anyway. That is my report for the time being.
Appreciate if you guys correct me on what I said here. Ham radio is about learning!
