Re: Battery will not charge
In this discussion of the X6100 battery, it was suggested to look on AliExpress for the batteries (there are 2).? I did get the batteries, but have not had issues with my X6100.? I normally use external 12V battery to get the full 10W output.? I have not tested the AliEx batteries so cannot comment further.

Tom, I got your message, and when the time comes to replace the battery, I will crack the case and get the part numbers off the battery and source it that way. It is not a special battery, just the one they chose for the radio. A 3ah battery will power the 6100 for quite a while on 5w, and a 5ah battery gives acceptable time at 10w. Honestly, I would just as soon use an external battery than the internal one.

Re: CAN you MAINTAIN a X6100 WiFi Connection?
Paul,
I've been able to maintain a connection to an AP with a strong signal indefinitely with Xiegu firmware.? If you're using DHCP, there is a periodic refresh of the 'lease' with time dependent on router (typically) settings. If the connection is dropping on a predictable schedule, I'd suspect the router is unhappy with it for some reason.? Try a static IP address if you're using DHCP and see if that makes any difference. 73, ? Dan ? N7SHM |

Re: Is WFView misidentifying my X6100?
I have had mine since 2022 august and it works fine, but with the known quirks.
I had a similar experience like the one you're describing a couple of days ago, when trying to connect the FT8CN (Android) app to my X6100 (App/Base 1.1.6) over WiFi. X6100 reported that in it was connected to the access point on my Android phone, but the access point on the Android phone did not report any connected device. Tried several times to configure the WiFi settings on the X6100, without any success. If I don't misremember, I have tried connecting to the X6100 earlier, but gave up trying as the WiFi implementation appeared to me as less then solid... But if you're in to digital, I can recommend the very nice and well featured Android app FT8CN connected to the X6100 over a USB cable. Both FT8CN and WFView works fine with IC-705 by the way. Stay safe! 73 de SA5QED David |
Re: CAN you MAINTAIN a X6100 WiFi Connection?
There is plenty of chatter about the wifi circuit sitting inside a metal case and not being reliable or having any connection distance. Probably not what you want to hear, but an ethernet connection is the way to go. This one works for me and it's all of $14:

Re: X6100 PWR consumption wit external PSU
Hi. Yes, 3S would be suffcient and imho even optimal. In this group you will find people who measured input voltage vs output power for this rig. Between 9 and 10 V is fine. Most of the input is regulated down to 5 V anyway (except for the PA).
A higher then 10V voltage just adds extra heat internally (the voltage regulators are analog, not switching) with no extra power output. For digimodes the X6100 can get quite hot already, so it's best not to add unnecessary waste heat! -- Robert |
CAN you MAINTAIN a X6100 WiFi Connection?
I can?connect my X6100 to my WiFi network, and WFView "works" (minimally, more about that in another topic!)
But, after a period of time, the X6100 drops the WiFi connection. Of course, WFView can't work then! Access point for the 6100 is maybe 6' away, has a good strong connection. Ping doesn't report errors, until the WiFi disconnects. Other devices connected through the same access point don't have errors. If I turn the X6100 off, then back on, the connection is restored. Is this a known X6100 behavior, and can it be changed? I want to just leave the radio on and connected, accessing it with WFView. TIA for any Wisdom! 73, Paul -- AI7JR |
Is WFView misidentifying my X6100?
I'm trying to use WFView with my new X6100, APP 1.1.7 BASE 1.1.6, via WiFi, for remote access.
I can connect but WFView claims it's talking to a (IC?)705! Some controls and functions work but most don't. No errors reported... Are there improvements I can make? :-( Paul -- AI7JR |
Re: Battery will not charge
Like death and taxes there is a 100% certainty the battery in your 6100 will fail. ?Not stocking batteries indicates the manufacturer identifies its product as disposable. ?There are a couple of choices we have when it does fail and that is to leave it in the radio and use an external power source, remove the batteries, or fix it. ?I don’t like leaving lipo batteries that have failed in anything. ?I have at least two experiences of iPhone batteries swelling so much that it cracks the screen. ?So that leaves option 2 and three. ?Since no user repairable notices ever scared me I first do 2 remove the battery and then try to rebuild it. I did a description of how to rebuild a x5105 battery on their groups.io group. ?
