Re: Weird Tone coming out of speaker

Sorry, an update here!
My son just reminded me that YES, it had the CW TX TONE all the time. The red led was ON and was transmitting continuously.
The small Dummy Load was starting to get warm when I finally opened up the battery section and unplugged the battery connector.
Could be a low power external battery? I mean, the external battery was no longer fully charged at the time of my firmware upgrade?
Something to think about. After unplugging the battery and plugging it back, all went normal and just in case, I re-imaged (re-installed the firmware) the radio with no more problems since then.

Re: Weird Tone coming out of speaker

I had a similar situation. In my case it was not a tone. The radio went on transmit (TX) and stood there. Nothing worked. Software Reset didn’t solve it. Nothing. Had to open the back and disconnected the battery. Only then, the problem stopped. My radio was getting warm. Good I had a dummy load connected otherwise the finals could have burned out.
This happened after a firmware update.

This radio needs, repeat, needs a hard reset button.

Re: Patch version 0.20.1 #R1CBU-Firmware

Oleg,

There is only the volume folder and the root directory.? Where is the data folder?? I've pulled the microsd and put it into my windows system.?
I placed the .tgz file in the root directory. on boot up and after your logo display the screen goes black.

Weird Tone coming out of speaker

Edited

I just had something weird happen.? I was on 10 meters just listening.? I had the Xiegu Speaker plugged in.? I left and returned and the radio was producing this tone.? I could tune up and down.? I could switch bands.? It still produced this tone.? I turned it off.? And it was still producing this tone.? I unplugged everything.? The green light was still on and still producing a tone.? I turned it back on and it was still producing the tone.? I cycled it on and off a few more times and it was still producing a tone.? I did a factory reset via the menu.? It was still producing a this tone.? I decided to take a video of this and even did a factory reset.? And it was still producing a tone.? While off I could plug the Xiegu speaker in and it this tone would switch back and forth from the speaker to the x6100 while OFF and unplugged.? The green light remained on still too.? I got to turn this thing off.? Did some searching and could not find anything.? So in I go.? First time opening it up.? I was aware of the ball bearings after watching the tear down videos.? I knew where to go.? Manufacturers really should try producing their own teardown videos like that instead of random people, anyway I digress.? So I pull the sides take the two screws holding the back battery plate off and there is the battery.? I pull the connector out half way and sound stops.? The connector doesn't come out all the way because of the battery.? I slide it back in and no sound.? Put it back together and power it back on.? No sound.? Connect my antenna tune back to 10m and everything appears to be fine.? My concern is I now have to carry a screwdriver to open up my radio.? Will this happen again?? What could have caused it?? Anyone know?? When I was in the menu while the tone was going off, i went in to the system info and under the Base version it did not have "V1.1.6", it just had a question mark "?" here.? When I go into this menu after doing the hard reset like I did, then it shows up correctly.? Has anyone ever encountered this issue?

Have you got "Monitor" turned up?

The firmware does not support switching keyboard layouts. Those. it is always in English mode. Those. You can use any with English layout.

Re: New version 0.20.0 #R1CBU-Firmware

Oleg,

I plan to purchase a mini keyboard for my X6100, complete with USB C connector and built-in hub. Since different languages use different keyboard layouts (in DE z and y are swapped, we got umlauts and lack some other symbols), my question is what keyboard to buy to avoid "finger gymnastics" to reach certain characters - US? DE? Can it be selected in software?

BTW thanks for your great work, and I can fully understand your decision to stop/minimize your frustration with Xiegus design decisions. Keep us informed about the progress of your project.

Greetings,

Hello,

Well I only know from the using the spoken prompts but you should be able to see that the audio encoder menu system has mic gain for internal and external. They are fighting each other. Turn the one you don't want to use down and the one you want up. Take it off of auto too, specifying the one you want.

I am sure the spoken prompts speak those menu items you will see.

I have had my Xiegu 6100 for over a year. When I am out with my radio and try to have a QSO, I have terrible feedback between my speaker and microphone. I use wired headphones, same issue making it impossible to establish a QSO.
I have increased the squelch but that does not make any difference.
I have been a ham for a long, long time but I am stumped!

Can anyone send some light on this issue that has plagued me?

I did some testing on 'dummy load' and find power out changes as FT8 frequency is increased.
If I adjust FT8 cursor to transmit with 500 Hz or 800 Hz tone my X6100 transmits FT8 CQ at 5 watts.
(As shown on firmware power indicator and external wattmeter.)
If I move FT8 cursor higher... at 1000Hz the power out shows 8 watts.
At 1200 Hz and 1400 Hz, and 1600 Hz -? it shows 10 watts.
This behavior may be limited to my X6100, (or X6100 models built at the same time).
The trick for me is to just transmit my FT8 carrier tones at 800 Hz or below to have 5 watts output.
Thanks for all your hard work, I mostly use CW mode and your firmware makes CW a joy.

It's quite strange. When you turn on APP FT8, if the current power is more than 5W, a warning should appear that the power has been reduced to 5W.
I checked this and this is exactly how it works for me

Thank you for your great firmware.
I do not have FT8 running on external computer. Only connection to X6100 are 12.6 V external power supply, CW straight key and dipole antenna.
Rig power set in firmware for 5.0 watts. On CW I have 5 watts out (verified with external power meter).
When I press APP and access FT8 mode rig syncs up in a few moments. Then I enable TX CQ and X6100 transmits with
external wattmeter showing 9.5 watts output.?
(Other stations answer my call - so FT8 working fine - just wish I could operate with 5 watts out.

Re: New version 0.20.0 #R1CBU-Firmware

Thanks Oleg, I'll try again maybe im doing something wrong. The popular wifi mini keyboard I use with built in mouse pad does not seem to work so maybe I'll buy a different one and try again. It works with the stock firmware perfectly for some reason. I just wanted to enter my callsign and I don't have a wired keyboard at all anymore lol. Maybe it needs to be in there when it boots rather than autodetect or something! Thanks Scot

Hello,

чт, 14 мар. 2024 г., 16:42 <wa3see@...>:
Any suggestions how I can lower the TX power out when running FT8 with R1CBU ver 0.2.0 firmware.
Release notes mention FT8/FT4 power limited to 5 Watts...but my X6100 is putting out 10 watts and
drawing 4.5 amps on external power supply.

The power in my firmware is limited only by transmission FT8 by means of the x6100 itself.? If you are using an external computer this will not work.

Brand new X6100, just added R!CBU V.20.0

Yesterday my first contact with my new X6100 was XE1XR with 10 watts. I was a 5x4.

I just installed R1CBU's firmware v.20.0. Getting used to it. I didn't realize it would now transmit on CB. The tuner in the X6100 is tuning my 40-meter dipole on 10 and 11 meters. LOL Pretty cool rig!

Hi Oleg,

is it possible to add some driver to the SD card to support USB wireless keyboard? As the FT8 only works with external keyboard, I tried the one I normally use (a wifi type mini keyboard with a dongle) but the radio does not see it or the mouse pad like the stock firmware.

And all this is already included there.? I use a wireless USB Logitech keyboard.
