CJ2A Seats?

Ron Sercu

I have a few questions about original style seat covers and cushions for
my CJ2A's. Does anyone know of a good source for them? What color(s)
were
the seats for an early 46?, for a 48? Were there any differences in the
seat style from the early to latter CJ2A's?

Pushed some snow with the 48 yesterday :).

Thanks in advance,

Ron

Re: Paint Colors

I have a 54 PU, it is light green on the block with a reddish tint on top
and white letters, I got it from the original owner who says it has never
been repainted.

I have a friend who lives in New York (Chestertown) who has a 53 PU.
Before long he will be looking to re-paint it. Naturally, he would like to
match the color as closely as possible. He tells me that it is a dark
maroon. I've looked in Jim Allen's Jeep Buyer's Guide and seen that the
redish colors for 1953 are Bristol Red, 78-President Rd, and Saber Rouge.

The question: which of these redish colors would most likely match the
dark maroon- and does anyone know of an available paint that would match
this?

This is my first inquiry and I appreciate any guidance you could provide.
Thanks in advance, Jerry Franks (TX)

Saber Rouge, that's a real dark red, like my wagon...that has some
cruddy
green paint on top of it. The inteior is Saber Rouge also.

Hello everyone,

I just joined the list so I'm not sure if I'm sending this the correct
way. The list instructions said to introduce myself. So, anyway. I was
begining to think I was the only person in the world interested in the
Willy. I started collecting my truck parts about a year ago. I now have
three 6-226 4wd pickups. Which should give me enough parts to put together
one complete restored truck and still have some parts left over. It has
been very exciting to find so many other Willy owners and so much resource
information. I have also found an original owners manual and service
manual. Oh yea, and one of the trucks I have came from an 83 year old lady
who was the trucks original owner. She gave me the truck on the promise
that she gets to drive the restored truck when I'm finished.

Another Willy

Kel Blakelock

Howdy,
I'm very new to the list but thought I would share. I'm driving home
from work and see a 1951 Willy Wagon parked in a drive way. Of course I
stop and say hi. This leads to another contact. I call the gentleman and
he has a 1950 Willy Jeep that he has had stored for some time and wants to
give it a good home (free). I talk for awhile, prove I'm a Willys collector
and he gives me the jeep. I pick it up in the morning. The gentleman is
just getting up in years and wants his jeep to have someone that will love
it. Now I've got one 1953 Willys Pickup in the garage, two more Pickups in
the drive way (52 and 54), and a jeep on the way. Not to mention my 69 Nova
(fully restored) that I drive everyday. Where am I suppose to store all
these vehicles? You ever notice how a hobby can quickly get out of control?
BTW, someone mentioned buying an air compressor and trying to justify to the
wife all the neat stuff that goes with it. Now, I'm not sure but I think
that it is a Federal Law that if you buy a compressor that you must purchase
at least three assessors for it within 30 days of the purchase. I'm in
compliance, (blaster, impact wrench, and air hammer) Hope this helps with
the wife.

wiring help please !

dean heintz

Hello all
was wondering if some one could help me out. I am still plugging away on my 60 wagon plow vehicle. It has been some what cannibalized for another willys project.ignition switch, light switch and many other things gone. But it still runs and drives. It doesn't charge any more though, but gen has been tested and is working. I would like to rewire the charging system and ignition. just have a on off switch for power to coil at this point and nothing else except push button start. new wire coming off gen to regulator. Does the red wire that run up into dash area from regulator need to be energized for things to charge? I have read much about the ballest resister. were should it be and what does it look like. were should it go in my new wiring set up?. Thanks for any help, I am about ready to give up!!

Re: wiring help please ! (a little disappointing)

dean heintz

Hello,
A few days ago I posted looking for some help on a little rewiring. I asked if the red wire coming of the voltage regulator(60 wagon) going up under the dash needs to be energized in order for the charging system to charge. It is hard to tell on the wiring diagram I have. I also asked what a ballast resister looks like and were it might be located. I find it a little disappointing that out of almost 4000 members and vast knowledge of the willys tech group that there was not one response. Did I do something to upset the willys gods? Or is it because I am working on a cannibalized basket case of a parts truck that most might see a a waste of time. my willys fund is small and spread thin so on this project I need to do some,( its not the correct way, but it will work and no one will get hurt)kind of work so my better shape willys projects can get gone correctly. I don't want to put a bunch of cash in this wagon because it will only get used a few times a year and never leave the drive way. But its a willys, and I would rather hang my plow if it than find some Chevy or ford to put it on.

hey all,
thanks for the info. my battery that keeps the memory for clock , date and other stuff I guess is dead so when it get turned of it is the date and clock get all funky. I should really replace computer, bought in spring of 98, but it does the job. that would cut into willys fund.

voltage regulator

dean heintz

Hello all
well I now have found that my voltage regulator on my 60 wagon is shot. My inexpensive snow plow is turn out to be spendy. New fuel pump, points, need a wheel cylinder, and now a regulator. Any one have a used regulator laying around the would like to sell. If not I will take the time and put in an alternator. that might mess up my plow pump mounting though. the snowball is starting to grow. the generator is working, took to a local strtr/alt shop and had it tested. I am running out of workable outside weather. thanks for any info.

Anyway, greetings everyone, and it is truly a pleasure to be surrounded

Chalk me up for a portion of the next bill we recieve. It is well worth
the info I have already reaped from everyone here.
And for all of us in the sunny state of Arizona, where it was a freezing

the area? Or, anybody got maps?
And by the way,

!!! Geeze. I guess y'all *have* to take your anti-freeze seriously
with those kinds of temperatures. I lived in Houston for about eight
years, lots of people down there don't even use anti-freeze. I was
fairly young at the time, but I do remembered that it actually snowed
down there once, I think it was 1972.

FW: [WTML] Serial# & body stamping

Hough, Brandon D.

To continue this post, yes the serial # on 4WD trucks is on the top of the
frame rails in 2 places; 1) just in front of the right rear wheel as
mentioned, and 2) just behind the left front wheel.

Question, I have the title to my '64 FC150 but the VIN plate in the cab is
missing. To get it titled in my name, they will have to verify that the
title I have matches the truck. Does anyone know of another place on FC's
that the serial number is listed?

thanks!

<< Hey,

Can any body tell me the exact location of various body stamping # ,
casting
# and serial # ( frame, axles/housing, engine, tranny/xfer) for the trucks.
Funny you should ask, I found a serial # last week on my 62 pickup on the
top
side of the right side frame just a little to the front of the rear tire. I
couldn't see it with the bed on.

Spare rack

Matt Phillimore

Anyone know where you can buy a spare tire rack for my 48 pickup? Or
IF you can buy them. I was considering just making one, but mine's
been removed at some point, so I don't have one to take measurements
from. If anyone could tell me where I might buy one, or could supply
me with some measurements, I would be very appreciative.

Web site doesn't work for me either. With a little more description we might
be able to figure this part out. What comes out of the back of the handle and
where does it lead to.

What you are describing sounds to me like an after market remote hook release
cable. I haven't seen my 48CJ in 8 years but I don't remember anything like
you are describing over there. I do believe my light switch was there but
that was all. Of course I had about 12 other switches in a panel added to the
right hand side. They included labels like Flame On, and Bilge On, I think it
must have been from an old PT Boat.

timken 4 sale

"Rousseau, Stephane" <[email protected]

Hi there,

Well, I used to have a '47(I think) pick up that was bought for jeep parts
mostly.
A few yrs back the rest of the wreck was scrapped not knowing that I'd ever
get into trucks aswell. It had a split rear end which I later found out was
Timken. The housing and gears where scrapped but I still have the axle
shafts. Anyone interested? Make me an offer.
