Re: Version 5 SoftRock, anyone?
Will it be able to be driven with an external oscillator? How many thousand
kits will there be in the first batch?

Re: brain freeze
Steve, there is nothing sacred about the crystal case being grounded. There is no real need to solder it to ground.
It's there for mechanical stability, since the crystal isn't laying flat on the

Should be a hole there...was on my board. It is a small hole though. Is
there enough pad there to tack the ground wire to? You might remove the

Version 5 SoftRock, anyone?
Hello Everyone,
I am working on a version 5.0 of the SoftRock receiver and want to

Re: brain freeze
Hi Steve,
Mine has a smaller hole there. If yours doesn't have
one, you should just solder the ground wire to the
crystal lead that goes to ground. It's easy to tell
which one that is by looking at

Re: Software Problem
I'm no expert, but did you make sure that you installed the non-SoftRock 40
version of power SDR first? I ran into similar problems when I mixed up the
install.
Good luck

Re: Success with SR-40
Hi Chuck,
XG1 works with just about any crystal you stuff into
it. I occasionally use mine on 20 with a 14.060
crystal. The new XG2 uses exactly the same oscillator
circuit for 80/40/20 coverage with

Hi Tony
Thank you for the information as I have the Elecraft XG1 also. I still plan to
have you build my receiver but the data will be good for comparison.
A new model is also available.
