Hi Tony
Thank you for the information as I have the Elecraft XG1 also. I still plan to
have you build my receiver but the data will be good for comparison.
A new model is also available.
XG2 Three Band Receiver Test Oscillator / S-Meter Calibrator
Cheers

Good Morning Leon,
After building about 70 of the little receivers, this is what I typically
see when level is calibrated with an Elecraft XG1:
S9 calibrated at -73 dBm with the 50 uV RMS output of the XG1 and
-107 dBm, the 1 uV RMS output of the XG1, is usually about 30 dB above the
noise floor.
Also reported is the 1 dB compression point at about -20 dBm.
Happy to hear the kit has gone together well for you.
73,
Tony KB9YIG

Subject: [softrock40] Success with SR-40
I completed my SoftRock-40 just before leaving for the GQRP mini-convention
in Rotherham, and didn't have time to test it. I've just plugged it into
my
PC (running the SDRadio software) and connected it up to my trusty Marconi
2019A signal generator and it seems to be working OK - I can hear a -106
dBm
signal at 7.040 MHz and can probably go lower. Has anyone else checked the
sensitivity? I'll try it out with an antenna later.
I've promised George, G3RJV, a write-up for Sprat. I met someone at
Rochdale
who is building one, and someone else who wanted one but missed out.
73, Leon
