Re: Any HF BBS¡¯s Around?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello DOug, I have had a RMS gateway on 14.107 USB for some years now so as
not to QRM the NET105 gang on 14.105 LSB. I also share that with
my WA3WLH-7 BPQ node's port 6 FX25 1700c. So if you prefer LSB
then it would be dial freq 14.110.4. Other than my own regular use I only get a handful of connects there per year as folks that recognize the packet tones stumble across my beacon. There are Robust Packet, Pactor, VARA, and ARDOP sigs around that freq at random times daily some of which are winlink and some are BBS forwards. It can get busy at times but there are plenty of times when the freq is clear and AX/FX25 is easily usable. So if you are looking for something on 20m and the path between us is favorable you are welcome to use the node at -7 or the BBS at -1. And if 20m paths are not favorable I also keep a port on 40m 7.104 LSB 1700c up 24/7 where I both get connects from and see beacons from NNE Canada so you can also try there if you have 40m capability. 73 de Rich WA3WLH On 5/7/23 13:03, Doug via groups.io

Garry Cramins (AE5HL)
There are quite a few, the easiest way to find them is just put the radio on NET 105 and issue the "MHeard" command after a half hour or so. I've connected to more than a few and run one myself. It doesn't heard to connect and drop a line to the SYSOP, I've done it more than a few times myself... Garry (AE5HL) On Sun, May 7, 2023, 11:16 Doug via <doug=[email protected]> wrote:

Group Moderator
Hello all Network105,
? ?Over the last week we have been seeing a Large amount of BBS Traffic (? compressed data ) and APRS Traffic. ? ?Please check your setups if you are running BPQ32 or others and make sure that we all follow the guidelines that Burt VE1AMA established for our Great Network. ? ?Thanks again for being part of NetWork105. |
Re: Mobilinkd
Here is a quote from the Mobilnked 4 User Guide:
The TNC4 is a KISS TNC, which means that it is purely a modem and not really a terminal node controller. A more accurate description of the TNC4 and all KISS devices is a KISS modem.Like other KISS modems, it only speaks AX.25 but requires a software program to drive it.? Software like Winlink Express, APRSIS32, PinPoint, APRSDroid, bpq32, etc will work fine with the Mobilnkd.? DireWolf, Soundmodem, etc will not because they require a soundcard and not a KISS modem.?? Re: Mobilinkd
There is no need for a sound modem. The Mobilinkd takes care of sending and receiving the audio. The Mobilinkd is a KISS TNC (?that accepts KISS packets over the serial interface and converts them to the appropriate audio for the ax.25 packet.? It's exactly like using any other TNC in KISS mode which provides a standardized interface for software to interface with it rather than dealing with vendor-specific serial commands. On Linux, the Kernel's ax.25 stack and the kissattach command can create an ax.25 device natively. On Windows, AGWPE can act as as an intermediate for applications like EasyTerm that do not know how to use a KISS TNC directly.? Other applications (QtTermTCP, Winlink Express, Xastir, APRSISCE/32, etc...) that are aware of the KISS protocol can use the TNC directly without needing AGWPE. If you are just looking for a terminal but not extra features like a personal mailbox, QtTermTCP will fit the bill.? If you are looking for more, then use AGWPE and EasyTerm. 73, Ben - KU0HN -------- Original Message --------

Re: Mobilinkd
Ah, therein lies the problem. The Mobilinkd isn't a true TNC, but an interface to the radio. You need a software modem that speaks KISS TNC on the respective system you're connecting to the Mobilinkd from.? On Windows, I use UZ7HO's SoundModem and his EasyTerm with a DigiRig. It's been awhile, but I believe I had to use AGW Packet Engine to interface with the Mobilinkd TNC 3. You can set it to KISS TNC mode. Go here and download AGWPE.ZIP:?? (If someone else has guidance on interfacing UZ7HO SoundModem with the Mobilinkd, please do share!) On Android, APRSdroid () has a built-in soundmodem you'd configure to connect to the Bluetooth device,?and it works great with the Mobilinkd. Likewise, WoAD or Winlink on Android () speaks KISS TNC. I wish there was a regular terminal app for BBS access on Android that had a built-in sound modem.? On Linux, maybe ChromeOS with Linux enabled, Direwolf will probably work best. Re: Getting my MFJ-1278 back on the air, any suggestions?
Thanks again Joshua, I've left my node on for a few days so far. Assuming?propagation allows it, at some?point during the day you should be able to hear me...in theory anyway. 73, Andrew W8IJC On Wed, May 3, 2023 at 9:17?PM Joshua KJ7LVZ <joshuajayg@...> wrote: On Wed, May 3, 2023 at 02:22 PM, W8IJC wrote: |

Re: Getting my MFJ-1278 back on the air, any suggestions?
I sort of figured out how to use them today, the filters make more sense with how they work in the SSB mode. Still I'd appreciate any input you might have on the subject.
I've noticed for the most part, we don't get much interference from VarAC (which is on 14.105) since the standard for the 105 network is LSB. Man those RTTY contests honestly wipe out the whole digital portion of the non-warc bands! I'll have to check out 30 meters, what freq do people use on there? |
