The TNC4 is a KISS TNC, which means that it is purely a modem and not really a terminal node controller. A more accurate description of the TNC4 and all KISS devices is a KISS modem.
Like other KISS modems, it only speaks AX.25 but requires a software program to drive it.? Software like Winlink Express, APRSIS32, PinPoint, APRSDroid, bpq32, etc will work fine with the Mobilnkd.? DireWolf, Soundmodem, etc will not because they require a soundcard and not a KISS modem.??

Ah, therein lies the problem. The Mobilinkd isn't a true TNC, but an interface to the radio. You need a software modem that speaks KISS TNC on the respective system you're connecting to the Mobilinkd from.?
