Re: Flex to amp cable

Good Morning Rich:

I believe that the LA-1K requires a PTT,?unless your FTDI interface has a relay to key the AMP it probably won't work. I have an ANAN 100D , there is a PTT ?port on the rear of the RIG . I use a MFJ optical

relay to key the AMP. Maybe you can configure your USB interface to do the same ?

Trying to get my LA-1k connected to my Flex 6600.? I have the FTDI cable and then null serial cable from there.

It runs my STEPPIR controller just fine but not the amp. When I change the mode in the menu it says "Cable Not Detected"

anan 100 D Rev 24 Question

Does the RCA port on the La-1k replace the Xtronics XDC-1 ? Can I plug the RCA cabled port directly to the Bypass port on the ANAN 100D.

Thanks for the feed back.

Also forgot to mention I use Splashtop as a streaming server on the shack computer and as clients on my Android phone and my portable laptop to operate on the road.

Thanks for the reply Paul, that all makes sense except for the relay. How do you switch 240v with a 120v relay, are you just switching 1 leg of 120v ?

My memory is tired this morning...As Paul Sobon pointed out it requires the "H" update to the amp.

I guess I should have read the description where it said 8 pin, 120v is for the coil. Thanks

In this case the 120 volts is the relay voltage.? You could use that or something else. “double pole” I the important part.

Not if you understand my shack set up. I use 4 monitor screens and operate facing the screens. The LA-1K is behind me. If you check out my QRZ.com page you will see the older 3 monitor set up. I have not updated the pictures showing the FLEX and the FTdx5000..

Kind of eliminates the need for remote software doesn't it ?

Re: Remoting the LA-1K - Easy

Hi folks
I don't like to leave the LA-1K running all the time so I built a remote power switch.? I bought one of the gray outdoor electrical utility boxes from home depot and some power cord and 240 male and female plugs.? Also a cord for 120 volt.? Then a Dayton 120 volt relay like this:?.? I use a smart switch that I plug in the wall to control the relay remotely and I put this circuit between the 240 wall plug and LA-1K.? ?I leave the LA-1K panel switch in the on position all the time.

Here is the smart plug I use. I have two of them and switch them from my phone.? One plug for the computer, one for the rotor and one to put power to the LA-1K.

That amp has a toggle switch for on/off. It is not "software" driven. I have the amp on only when I am in the shack operating.

Re: Remoting the LA-1K - Easy

By the way you will need to upgrade the LA-1K firmware to 1.03H for it to work with TRX-Manager.? Then all you need is a free RS-232 port on your computer and a straight (not null) RS-232 cable and the free trial TRX-Manager software.??

Remoting the LA-1K - Easy

Hi folks -?
I've been running the LA-1K (love it)? totally remote for few months with the help of TRX-Manager author Laurent F5DEX.? Laurent worked with the Palstar folks to emulate the touch screen in every way using the TRX-Manager and I tested it on my LA-1K.? I have an ICOM 756 Pro III and have been operating it mostly on 6 meter FT8 and meteor scatter from Denver.? I also operate on the low bands with a modest antenna.

I attached a screen shot.? Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Remote use

well, I got a quick reply to my email if the software works with the LA-1K. They said "absolutely, and it works well", it's going to be released this week. They even offered to send me a test version !

Thanks for the heads up on this Mike !

BJN:

I admit that was one of the first things I went looking for -- to have the amp go into bypass whenever my HF-AUTO tuner was tuning.? I looked at doing that using the tuner interface on my Icom radio and making up a circuit to interrupt the PTT line when tuning, which I could have done.

Then I looked at the HF Auto App and learned how to program it for all bands and desired antenna selection and never looked back. I'm been using it with N1MM for a while now. Other than N1MM not being my absolute favorite program for general logging, it does talk to all of my equipment now, one way or another and I'm pretty happy with it all.

Of course if you have antenna conditions that can change a bit, you'll need to have the tuner to come up with a new tuning solution occasionally.

The big thing would be the ability to put the amp in standby so you can use the antenna tuner. The ability to power on and off would be a bonus as well.
