Antenna switch assignment 31
I am new owner. Using normal keying and RF sense to switch bands. If I have tribander for 10/15/20 m and multi and dipole fri 40/17/12 m. Sendings works on all bands but I cannot assign 12/17 m to to different antenna than 10/15m. I understand 10/12 m and 15/17 m share same harmonic filters, but you should be able assign different antennas for each band? is this just issue with RF detect select and I have to use a band cable? Thanks, Brian KC4KK

Data Interface
Is there a interface specification or API for the LA-1K. I would like to remote control the amplifier and am not finding a control application for Windows. Thanks, Brian KC4KK

How to Remote operate the La1K? 6
I have my station setup for remote operation with the exception of the amp. Is there a windows program that can control the amp to replicate what I do manually, i.e., switch power on, switch from standby to operate, view swr, power, bypass , and switch from operate to standby? Thanks, Frank W4TG

LA-1k to TS-890 10
Group, I am looking for some direction in trying to connect my TS-890 to the LA-1k with a band changing cable. I was told that the Ameritron als-1306 cable would work. I bought the cable, however the db-9 connector that goes to the LA-1k is female and so is the "kenwood" db-9 connector on the back of the LA-1k. The cable I bought is the DB-DB7DK, does anyone know if this is the proper cable? Thank you, Joe W3OYJ

Flex to LA-1K cable 5
Thanks, Billy. I know I can do that, but I don’t like the idea of having to shoot a little RF on CW to get the LA-1K to shift bands and have the tuner follow before I can transmit on that band. I know there’s a cable out there somewhere to automatically shift bands, I had one for the FTdx-101d. Someone must have plans for one? Cheers.. Flex to amp cable 6
Trying to get my LA-1k connected to my Flex 6600. I have the FTDI cable and then null serial cable from there. It runs my STEPPIR controller just fine but not the amp. When I change the mode in the menu it says "Cable Not Detected"

Palstar LA-1K and Heavy Duty Cycle Activity 15
I am currently considering the purchase of a LA-1k amplifier to support my Kenwood TL-921 which does not cover 6 Meter. Can anyone provide me with any experience with the LA-1K and heavy duty cycle activities such as the Fldigi modes? Bill K KC2VUT All Gave Some Some Gave All

La-1K hanging in transmit
I just developed a problem for some unknown reason. Every band every transmission when I unkey thr LA-1k will remain in transmit and kills my receive of course. SWR 1.2 and display shows TX AMP but no power is coming out. Must me sensing a marginal ground some where. Before I contact Palstar I thought I would try and see if anybody has any ideas. Placed dummy load on each coax port and does say thing. Got a OVERDRIVEN error a couple of times using a 20 watt qrp rig for the exciter. Replaced PTT key line. Dont use a ALC line. Serial number 6
Hello all, Just got a used LA1K yesterday. Anyone got info on serial numbers? Just curious how old it is. S# 30659. Also, I noticed in the book it mentions a switch on the side of the amp for 120/240. Mine seems to be absent of this switch. I have both power cords, I used the 120 cord and the amp came on. Any info on this? Thanks Billy Parkinson KG5RQZ WRYA510 HH 11724 COR RACES 306

LA1K LDMOS died while operating 10M 8
I was operating the CQWW SSB contest yesterday on 10M. My SWR is fine on that band, as shown my by almost 100 Q's before having a problem. Then it just went into bypass mode and when I reset it to operate, it put out perhaps 200 watts. This has happened before and Palstar replaced one of the LDMOS. My antenna is a fan dipole up in the trees and the wind was blowing, so conceivably the swr could vary over time, but the amp has high swr protection that would cut off xmit if the SWR went above 2:1, I would think. Anyone else have an LDMOS failure and what did you determine caused this problem? How did you prevent it from happening again? I'm new to solid state amps, so wonder if this is to be expected compared to old tube amps. Thanks, Frank W4TG

mRe: Tripping on CW
Philip, Thank you very much for your input.. I'll give the K4D more thoughts.. just wish that Elecraft would implement analog-looking meters (like those on my FTDX101D) in their K4 transceivers. Unlike the problematic LA-1K, my KPA1500 has absolutely no issues since day-one! Hope one day soon you will add a KPA1500 to your amps collection. Oh btw, you can see both the LA-1K and KPA1500 on my QRZ page. 73 Ray KJ5MI

Tripping on CW 9
Hello I have a M2 KT36XA flat on the 3 bands. When I use the LA1K on CW with more than 180 watts, it trips, SWR start jumping. Using any other AMP is no problem. Any ideas? Cheers, Philip CE4PS

LA1K switches to standby 2
My LA1K ,Which is set to standby at startup , Switches back to standby on the very first key up. SWR Is 1.2 into a Buckmaster 6 to 80. Radio is a 7610. I touched standby and it goes back to operate and after that, it is totally fine. Can’t figure out Why it only does this once and everything is fine? -- de K2HVE

FT710 to LA1K 6
I was sold a "band cable" that is thought to connect to the 8 pin "Tuner/Linear" port on the F710 (upper left on the back) and that it will supply band information to LA1K when the other end is plunged into the back of LA1K. This "band cable" is Ameritron DB 8MY2. Of course, the LA1K needs to know when the FT710 transmits. The manual for the FT710 seems to indicate that the 8 pins include a transmitter "ground" and a "transmitter inhibit." Does the LA1K use those two signals to effect PTT? (pulled low on transmit) Details on how one has used FT710 with LA1K will be most welcome. 73 James N8TT
