Nick,

Check in device manager when you plug it in. Some devices make multiple entries so they might be used multiple ways. If it creates a COM device (windows) then you have lots of options for how to deal with it. If not, then you have a bit more work with what library or driver you might need to make the connection.

My bad. Found it on page 72 of the LokPilot 5 manual: ¡°But only when the sound is switched on. You can set the start-up delay of the LokPilot 5 decoder in CV 252 in steps of 65ms.¡± Interesting that the units are 0.063 sec instead of 0.25 sec.

?

You can access CV252 using the JMRI single CV programmer.

?

I still cannot find it in the LokPilot 5 Basic instructions which say ¡°A list of all decoder parameters can be found in the de?tailed manual for the LokPilot 5 Basic, which can be down?loaded from our website in the ?Downloads? area.¡± I can¡¯t find that detailed manual anywhere. Anyone know where it can be found?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Ted,

?

It¡¯s possible the LokProgrammer software is not 100% accurate. I now realize that inclusion of ¡°Delay starting if drive sound is enabled (bit 2 of CV124)¡± makes no sense (but also does no harm) since the LokPilot can¡¯t make use of it. That starting delay is tied into the prime mover startup sound sequence which depends on the sound project. The LokPilot has no way of knowing what sound project is in a LokSound 5 that might be consisted to it.

?

The same thing shows up for LokPilot 5.

?

I have JMRI 5.10 and find that ¡°Prime Mover Startup Delay if Virtual Drive Sound Enabled ¡° shows up under ¡°Advanced>Miscellaneous¡¯ in the LokPilot 5 programmer. The associated value of CV252 is adjusted using the slider. CV252 is in the ¡®CV¡¯ sheet. Unfortunately, no separate DecoderPro programmer for LokPilot 5 Basic.

Subject [jmriusers] Startup Gets Stuck

Recently it became necessary to reinstall Java and JMRI. First, I checked that both programs were uninstalled. I then installed Zulu 17.56-ca-jre-17.0.14-iwin_i686.msi and JMRI5.10+Rca46bd266.exe. Both were problem free installs. I then tried to start JMRI so I could load my roster. Nothing happened?not even the JMRI Monopoly splash screen. So I ran Installtest and got the 2 screens in the photos I have attached. The JMRI screen has an error but I don't know what it means. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Startup Gets Stuck #startup

Install test shows that JAVA message says normal. Things go south when it tries to "Launching JMRI " and I suspect you might have a corrupted JMRI User data folder as you did back in 2023 were Dave Sand worked with you.

I would rename your JMRI User folder to JMRI_TMP and try and run JMRI once more. It should see this as a new install and complete the load.
If it still fails at this point, I am at a loss to help as it would seem JAVA has an issue.

You also say you loaded JAVA JRE but the log shows you installed the JDK from Zulu.

Re: How do I hook up a bar code reader to JMRI

Thanks everyone,
?
The bar code reader does act like a keyboard, so, Bob, that clears up several of my questions and a lot of confusion. It sounds like I need to handle the input of the from the reader outside of JMRI first. I'll take another look at MQTT and Mosquitto. I suspect I'll have more questioned.

Thanks to everyone for helping!!

Re: NCE ProCab- Light-it as signal decoder - Simultaneous commands #nce

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

A question for those having issues with the NCE Light-It.

?

Are you all using NCE command stations or have people been seeing the same issue but use other vendor command stations?

?

I suspect other vendors might prioritize the choice and spacing of the signal accessory packets differently from how NCE is doing it. I¡¯m curious to see if that makes any difference or not to the problem. This might shed more light on what the problem might really be and then some work around might be figured out. It¡¯s a long shot, but I figure worth asking.

?

The other question is if people had found some minimum number of Light-It decoders are needed before this become a problem? Or has this issue been seen when only a couple of Light-It¡¯s are in use?

Layout Editor bug in Dark Mode

Folks,
I discovered an interesting bug when using "Dark Mode".
I have attached the system console output when attempting to change the scaling of an icon using Panel Pro v5.11.5 with dark mode enabled.
Using 5.11.5 with "classic windows" enabled, scaling works normally.

Thanks,

Re: NCE ProCab- Light-it as signal decoder - Simultaneous commands #nce

John,

It might be possible to use a SignalMan in DCC mode with a LCC based command station. ?Or possibly in SSB mode with the RR-Cirkits LCC-LocoNet Gateway.

If you are not using the lunar connections on the SignalMan, you can use them for a fifth Light-Its equivalent.

Before I changed to signman units,? the issue I had with Light-its was that they "ignored" the command.? I had nothing overly complicated in Logix.? They just seemed to ignore the commands.
?
Signalman has been perfect so far and much more bang for the buck.? 1 signalman is more expensive than 4 light-its (equivalent) but well worth it.
?
BTW:? I don't think a signalman can be interchanged between DCC and LCC.? ?It can be interchanged with DCC and LocoNet.?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Ken,

From my POV. I don¡¯t believe I have had any masts change state that were not addressed.?
The only signals that didn¡¯t respond were directly addressed, ignoring the command when a route flipped a turnout.?
This is Al¡¯s issue, so I¡¯ll sit on the side and monitor.

Can you test, or have you observed, signals changing in parts of the layout that should not be getting any commands addressed to them?

Also, about the logic these people are using: Is a change in a single block causing a change (directly) in an signals not directly protecting that block? A signal changing in response to seeing another signal change is considered for this question to not be a direct change cause.

Re: Virtual sound setup #esu

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Ted. Some more info.

?

I opened my LokProgrammer software and created a new LokPilot 5 Basic project. I can only assume this will give accurate information. Under ¡®Decoder>Driving characteristics>Starting delay¡¯ it lists two check boxes:

Delay starting if drive sound is enabled (bit 2 of CV124);

Delay starting if virtual drive sound is enabled: Time to wait before start (CV252). CV252=1 gives 0.07s. CV252=10 gives 0.66s. CV252=50 gives 3.28s. So, I think a value of 50 should match the default value of CV167=13 in the LokSound 5.

?

I think ESU is saying that starting delay is available in the LP 5 Basic.

?

As mentioned before, you should be able to program CV252 with DecoderPro using the single CV programmer.

If the startup delay doesn¡¯t work in your LokPilot 5 Basic, then you need to kill the delay in your LokSound 5. Try setting SoundCV13=0 (CV167=0).
