I hope this is the right group to ask these questions. If not, please excuse the post,
I am monitoring our Digitrax system with Decoder Pro's Monitor Loconet feature. I am getting some curious output and would be interested in comments from members:
"19:46:07.715: Query Tetherless Receivers.
19:46:07.730: UR90 Responding with LocoNet ID 7.
19:46:07.749: UR92 Responding with LocoNet ID 7, duplex enabled."
We don't have any UR90s on the layout.
Are you SURE there isn't a UR90 installed? That message sure looks like a UR90 identity message...

BTW, when looking at the LocoNet Monitor, one cannot really know how many UR92s or UR93s are on LocoNet solely from the replies to the "Query Tetherless Receivers" message. It is a _Digitrax firmware choice_ that two or more UR92 devices can respond at the same time, and that two or more UR93 devices cat respond at the same time. So one cannot use that message set to "count" tetherless receivers. (There are other LocoNet messages that can be used, though.)

In general, it is difficult to understand a LocoNet message without the context...

"19:46:09.491: Device type report - SE8C Board ID 87 Version 3 is present.
19:46:09.506: Device type report - DS64 Board ID 125 Version 3 is present."
We don't have either device on the layout.
The message says otherwise, but one needs to see the _full_ LocoNet Monitor log, with Raw Hex Data, to understand _why_ the log even _has_ this info... In general, it is difficult to understand a LocoNet message without the context...

This type of message is one that is seen when certain software attenpts to "find" certain types of devices, like DS64's, PM4x's, SE8C's, and BDL16x's. And it also happens when someone has ignored the idea that one should _not_ leave _any_ DS64, PM4x, SE8C, and BDL16 at "Board ID" 1 (the "default" setting for these types of devices), and attempted to "read" OpSw 1's value from PM4x at "Board ID" 1.

"19:46:28.844: LONG_ACK: Function not implemented, no reply will follow."
What does this mean?
Exactly what it says. But without some context, we cannot guess! In some cases, Digitrax _intentionally_ responds with this message, to say "yeah, I took note of the request message, and I am not going to respond otherwise". This is entirely adequate for many cases, but that message is _only_ useful when shown with the _previous_ message!

In general, it is difficult to understand a LocoNet message without the context...

"19:46:35.805: Reported Duplex Group Name="ARM-DPLX", Password=00000000, Channel=20, ID=0.
19:46:36.030: Reported Duplex Group Name="ARM_DPLX", Password=00000000, Channel=21, ID=7."
This look very odd, it is reporting the duplex group as on channel 20 with ID 0 and then channel 21 with ID 7 in less that a second.
"19:46:36.149: Reported Duplex Group Name="ARM_DPLX", Password=00000000, Channel=21, ID=7.
19:46:36.181: Reported Duplex Group Name="ARM_DPLX", Password=00000000, Channel=21, ID=7."
It turns out that Digitrax' UP92 and UR93 firmware "automatically" corrects dis-similar Duples Network information, _in some situations_. I would _guess_ that you happened to run across one of those situations. The first two messages clearly show the discrepancy - I first noticed discrepancies between the "Network Name". The second two messages show the two UR92/UR93 device messages with identical network names.

But since you have not shown the _whole_ LocoNet Monitor Log, and you wave _not_ showm the "Raw Hex Data", we cannot tell _how_ the change took place... I would have expected a LocoNet message (or perhaps 4 different messages) to "force" the "Network Identity" data.

In general, it is difficult to understand a LocoNet message without the context...

Then again in a fraction of a second the system again shows channel 21 ID 7. Our system is set to channel 21, so this looks correct, but why such repetition?
In general, it is difficult to understand a LocoNet message without the context...

"19:46:36.060: Unable to parse LocoNet message. contents: D7 22 00 0F 20 25"
I think this has been asked before, but what does this mean?
The system reports finding our UR91s and a single UR92, but not two UR93s we have installed. Is this something our JMRI version is not able to do?

JMRI "doesn't know" how to interpret this message. Bit I think I know what it is - I believe it is a UR93 "Tetherless Receiver Report" message. Why isn't this properly interpred? I certainly don't know.

(I find it curious that "someone" has added some recent Digitrax support for UR93 messages, but not this one. "Bad JMRI developers!")

"19:46:46.685: Sensor LS193 is High
19:46:47.024: Sensor LS193 is Low
19:46:48.630: Sensor LS193 is High
19:46:48.907: Sensor LS193 is Low"
This repeats endlessly, Is there any way to figure out what this sensor is?
Nope, not from the "log". Perhaps there is some useful info in the log, but probably not. With many different LocoNet devices, there is _no way_ to difinitively determine which "Sensor" was from which device.

The best way is to determine _each_ Loconet device, and determine _which_ features it implements, and _which_ addresses the device implements. THIS IS GENERALLY A BIG PROBLEM. It is FAR easier to document the hardware _when the hardware is installed_.

I would _guess_ that some LocoNet device which implements "LS193" happens to have some "input" wiring that happens to be routed too close to other wiring, or "too far" from its "reference connection". General rules for low-voltage signals apply, and _something_ seems to have violated them.

None of our UR5 panel are powered, so that doesn't seem to be the source. We have 8 BXP88s installed, but these are set up to sense blocks 1-64. Ther are occasional odd sensor reports, I have no idea why, but they seem to happen at startup and then go away:
"19:46:10.750: Sensor LS8 is Low
19:46:10.766: Sensor LS8 is Low
19:46:10.830: Sensor LS8 is Low
19:46:10.845: Sensor LS8 is Low
19:46:10.879: Sensor LS3778 is Low (3778?)
19:46:28.602: Sensor LS387 is High
19:46:28.602: Sensor LS8 is High
19:46:28.747: Sensor LS2 is High
19:46:38.792: Sensor LS2 is Low
19:46:39.846: Sensor LS2 is High"
(Do NOT leave _anything_ near address 0. Really. Move them away. This is _critical_ for identifying boards that have gotten "Reset"!)

Which device does _each_ of the sensors map to? What _type_ of device is each one? If you cannot determine that, then "gods help you"...

It sounds so easy

For all my other turnouts, when I hover in a "control circle" my mouse pointer changes to a finger. No matter where I hover around the slip (even it what I think are the ones for the slip) I only ever get a pointer

Could this be because my turnout control circles are completely overlapped by track segment circles?

YAYYY - That IS what it was

Now I have a different problem

I edit my slip, changing the options to match what I want the animation to do

When I click "Done" I get a message telling me that one of my physical turnouts is already linked to a different panel turnout. TurnoutA and TurnoutB are both different. If I allow the update to complete, something is broken as the animation no longer follows the turnout changes

If I reset things to how they were, edit the slip and hit "Done" WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING, I still get the "already linked" message

BUT If I edit, then use the dropdowns to "change" each turnout to the ONE IT ALREADY HAS, then my edit works just fine

So I am THERE :)

Many thanks

But what do I click on to bring up the Edit Slip window? Anywhere I click seems to just animate the turnout(s) - and right-clicking seems to think everything is "Mainline"

The user name has NOT gone however, as when I quit the edit it's still there

This must be an oversight and just simply missed since this is a factory function for some time.
