So it is not a Motorola decoder after all.

What? are the values returned by CV8 and CV7 ??

What version JMRI ?? you should be on latest before throwing in the towel.

I too have a ROCO locomotive and when programming with the decoder pro the response says it a Zimo decoder. However on trying to assign a number it does not allow any numbers. Using my Digitrax programming track I can give the locomotive a number.

Locked SETUP QUESTIONS (OR RESET UP) PR3 port issue... #pr3

Hello,

My name is Craig and I am new to the user group. I love the JMRI program and have used it in the past at both home and a club I used to belong to.

I recently moved and can't seem to get a sold green light on my PR3, it seems to flash about every 2 seconds. of course I get the "timeout talking to command stn" error

On a mac mini running Yosemite 10.10.5
JMRI Decoder pro 4.16
updated Java (decoder pro runs, my old roster is there)
checked the serial port in Terminal and have the correct port set

Everything seems correct. It all worked at my old house. it was about 6 months ago that it was set up last. I can't remember if the Mac OS did any updating, but we did update JMRI however I did that when I was already having this issue.

I am sure its something simple I am missing. I have a 70 year collection of my departed fathers engines to manage as well as my own. Its about 25 rubbermaid boxes of engines alone...need a program like JMRI to help manage this for sure!

Thanks,
Craig Nelson

Locked Re: Double Slip Problems #layouteditor

Hi Dave
Great to hear from you again.?
Thanks for looking through and commenting on P2a12b. I shall put that right. Regarding Sensors, again your comment is correct. I changed strategy as can be seen in the North ladder turnouts, Sensors are taught to the Servo modules and I standardised on those turnouts in the North Ladder to use events 10 upwards, in pairs, for each servo to avoid any potential clash with servo and Sensor events (each module can have a maximum of 8 Servos attached). This is part update I planned to carry out when I resolved the P9/10 issue.
I also discovered that I did not have a proper handle on assigning the A and B turnouts. This I found when I built up the two slips in the North Ladder. When I first assigned them to these Slips, I took the end with the 'blue connector as being the 'A' turnout and it resulted in problems when testing. I reversed the assignment in the slip Edit Dialog and this cleared the problem. I had in mind to change P2a/1b and will also do that now.
I am looking forward to completing the layout panel and then I shall start to implement the signalling that you tutored me on.?
Perhaps Steve will help me with the North Ladder Slip.?
Best wishes
Peter

Peter,

Turnout P1b has Inverted selected. ?I try to avoid using Inverted if at all possible. ?It is a potential issue I like to avoid.

The P2a/P1b slip definition is messed up. ?The Turnout A/Turnout B states are inconsistent. ?You don't have a Thrown/Thrown pair. ? suspect that you want the B-D route to the be primary. ?I would make the first row Thrown/Thrown and the third row Closed/Closed.

I noticed that some turnouts, including slip turnouts, appear to be sharing event ids. ?Turnout P2a (MT-N266E2) uses feedback sensor "P2a @ ON End" (MS+N266E2). ?Since I know nothing about MERG, this might be valid.

I am having problems with two Double Slips - P2a/1b and P10/9. I have carried out checks on P10/9 it down to the Layout editor to map where the problem potentially lies and have narrowed the Layout Editor. Please find the pictures describing this at?/g/jmriusers/album?id=231878.
The panel is in the background, The Turnout Table is at the top with only the turnouts of interest visible. Below and to the left is the MERG FCU showing the received messages on CBUS and the fial window is the MERG CBUS Console.
I have posted the events as they progresed through the check. The first image describes how I set the Double Slip - both P10 and P9 in the Closed condition (Branch to Platform 3.) At every stage I checked the physical state on the layout and confirmed that this, and the messages, conformed with my expectations (Note: I did add two sensors to P9? to check if there was any quirk. As can be seen, and from I described above, P9 is not acting as it should.
Just for the record, I have made extensive changes having previously set the turnouts to Internal addresses and converted these to MERG Node addresses. These changes may have caused problems within JMRI. I also realise that I need to tidy up to create a consistent approah throughout.
My current panel file can be found here.?

Locked Re: Speed matching tips

Jan, All I am indicating is what dug up in the TCS decoder manuals regarding Hysteresis (or hysterasis)?? as it applies to the WOW decoder as I believe this is were the question came up from.? The thread had no mention of "hysteresis" in it until? Paul threw it out there.? So I assumed it had to be TCS WOW related.

The proper spelling is HYSTERESIS.? The typo is in the WOW decoder manual and throws a curve when one is searching for the proper definition/use of HYSTERESIS as it applies to the WOW decoder.

It is a SOUND related setting? that? takes it? value from BEMF.. The default value = 80.. so a difference (either - or + ) of 80? will increase? or decrease? the current notch rate.? That is how the TCS WOW manual
seems to describe the " HYSTERESIS "? (or HYSTERASIS? if you look in WOW manual) .? And as I stated, it only applies to one Throttle? mode, Prototype throttle mode, auto notch.

TCS video on? Throttle modes :?? .? Unfortunately, no mention of hysteresis in it?

Locked Layout editor Track drawing options not showing on web panel

Hi
I'm developing a fictitious layout in Layout Editor with twin track, with many twists and turns, such that it's difficult to follow which track is which. To help with this I've started using the Track Drawing Options to colour the different tracks. To do this I've assigned one of the tracks as mainline, and the other sideline and given then used different ballast colours. This is reflected on the model also.

This is great on the 'native' panel, but when shown on the web no colouring is present. I'm guessing that this in on a to-do list somewhere, but was wondering if it's planned for implementation in the near future, or whether I should use a different approach to highlighting the differences?

Here's a somewhat colourful example of the colouring that can be done, along with it's web representation: /g/jmriusers/files/ProblemsBeingWorkedOn/Andy%20Brown%20-%20161045//TrackDrawingOptionsWeb01.pdf

I'm currently using JMRI v4.17.6

Thanks
Andy

There are issues where the sound volume resets on power up... read even a spot of dirty track... Check the instructions/drawings to be sure there isn't a pot buried in the locomotive to set the volume... Ask me how I know...

The biggest hopp in programming MTH is having a Soundbooster card between your command station and the programming track?
Also my experience with MTH is programming direct without the use of JMRI?

The rest of my MTH units are in the works awaiting upgrade.
