Re: Speed matching tips
Jan, All I am indicating is what dug up in the TCS decoder manuals regarding Hysteresis (or hysterasis)?? as it applies to the WOW decoder as I believe this is were the question came up from.? The thread had no mention of "hysteresis" in it until? Paul threw it out there.? So I assumed it had to be TCS WOW related.
The proper spelling is HYSTERESIS.? The typo is in the WOW decoder manual and throws a curve when one is searching for the proper definition/use of HYSTERESIS as it applies to the WOW decoder. It is a SOUND related setting? that? takes it? value from BEMF.. The default value = 80.. so a difference (either - or + ) of 80? will increase? or decrease? the current notch rate.? That is how the TCS WOW manual seems to describe the " HYSTERESIS "? (or HYSTERASIS? if you look in WOW manual) .? And as I stated, it only applies to one Throttle? mode, Prototype throttle mode, auto notch. TCS video on? Throttle modes :?? .? Unfortunately, no mention of hysteresis in it? Marc? |

Layout editor Track drawing options not showing on web panel
Hi
I'm developing a fictitious layout in Layout Editor with twin track, with many twists and turns, such that it's difficult to follow which track is which. To help with this I've started using the Track Drawing Options to colour the different tracks. To do this I've assigned one of the tracks as mainline, and the other sideline and given then used different ballast colours. This is reflected on the model also. This is great on the 'native' panel, but when shown on the web no colouring is present. I'm guessing that this in on a to-do list somewhere, but was wondering if it's planned for implementation in the near future, or whether I should use a different approach to highlighting the differences? Here's a somewhat colourful example of the colouring that can be done, along with it's web representation: /g/jmriusers/files/ProblemsBeingWorkedOn/Andy%20Brown%20-%20161045//TrackDrawingOptionsWeb01.pdf I'm currently using JMRI v4.17.6 Thanks Andy |

Double Slip Problems
#layouteditor
I am having problems with two Double Slips - P2a/1b and P10/9. I have carried out checks on P10/9 it down to the Layout editor to map where the problem potentially lies and have narrowed the Layout Editor. Please find the pictures describing this at?/g/jmriusers/album?id=231878.
The panel is in the background, The Turnout Table is at the top with only the turnouts of interest visible. Below and to the left is the MERG FCU showing the received messages on CBUS and the fial window is the MERG CBUS Console. I have posted the events as they progresed through the check. The first image describes how I set the Double Slip - both P10 and P9 in the Closed condition (Branch to Platform 3.) At every stage I checked the physical state on the layout and confirmed that this, and the messages, conformed with my expectations (Note: I did add two sensors to P9? to check if there was any quirk. As can be seen, and from I described above, P9 is not acting as it should. Just for the record, I have made extensive changes having previously set the turnouts to Internal addresses and converted these to MERG Node addresses. These changes may have caused problems within JMRI. I also realise that I need to tidy up to create a consistent approah throughout. My current panel file can be found here.? Thanks for reading? Re: MTH DIESEL PROGRAMMING
Guys:
There are issues where the sound volume resets on power up... read even a spot of dirty track... Check the instructions/drawings to be sure there isn't a pot buried in the locomotive to set the volume... Ask me how I know... Jim Albanowski |

Re: Speed matching tips
Thanks guys! So for speed matching, I’ll set it to 0 and probably keep it at zero unless I consist it with other TCS equipped locos.

Re: MTH DIESEL PROGRAMMING
I’m in the same camp as Bob. I have an MTH F7. I like the sound a lot and don’t want to replace ?the decoder. I’ve been able to program the address With JMRI, but nothing else. The volume control on the locomotive doesn’t work. It’s either on or off. The loco is too loud for my small room so I rarely use it, although it runs and sounds great! ?Any programming advice?

Re: Packet Delays and Timeout - SPROG3 and JMRI 4.12
Hi all! I've been a long time Sprog user and joined to answer this question that has been driving me crazy. In JMRI, select SPROG Programmer from the menu and select Sprog Console. Under "Configuration", find SPROG Throttle Speed Step Mode. Click on 128 step (it may already be selected) and click on Apply. Scott |

开云体育If you are terminating the train and the cars are contiunating to an off line destination,? you need to make ferry`s yard as a C/I yard. Classification/Interchange yard. That way, the cars will be in your yard/boxes until they are needed. That is how I have my RR set up. The train arrives at the yard, I remove the cars from the layout and put them in there storage? box, remove cars from there boxes needed for the next train to leave, then make it up. You will need to set up the yard as you would any other location as to car type, route, and train. I have no problems this way. With the yard set as staging, you have to manualing change the consist in the program. With the C/I setting, the program does for you. Not sure what kind of ferry it is but all of my boxes are listed as staging so that all of the cars are removed and nothing is left over. I could list each tray separate but I think ?the squirrels would go crazy

This hysteresis is the amount of change from BEMF before it moves to next (+/-) notch.? Default is 80 (0-255). For use in "Prototype Throttle Mode" only.Marc: I'm not familiar with TCS but from what you say their manual is not using the word "hysteresis" as it is generally defined. As Chuck says, hysteresis exists when one value of an input results in different values of an output depending on whether that input value was set by increasing a lower value or reducing a higher value. In decoder terms, Notch 2 speed would be different when notching up from 1 than notching down from 3. Hysteresis is what's left over after all the time delays of momentum have faded away when making a speed change. It is different to momentum but could mask it so confuse and complicate the process of speed matching. Jan |
