Tom,

Since we just released the 4.14 version, you should try with it. There has
been a fair bit of work on that system connection, plus work to prevent the
Default = Internal issue.

Ken,

Thanks. I had an idea that that was the problem. However, nothing is selectable as Internal under Defaults. Everything defaults to XpressNet (except Service Programmer and Ops Mode Programmer, both of which are greyed out - but I would expect that with the Compact).

Everything seems to work OK though. The annoying thing that happens is that, when opening JMRI, I get an error message and have to wait for Help and Preferences to open (automatically). Then I can continue.

Cheers

Tom

rest of the errors trace to the initial one about not establishing a command

Locked Re: Layout Editor issues

Roger,

I've been zoomed to 400% to see the 10x10 grid and element placements clearly for part placement. Moving sections has been at about 200%. To me, that's zoomed in, but may be what you mean? At 100%, I could move big blocks around, but the entered tracks aren't that big a block yet, although growing.

I've found Dave Sand's suggestion to just use tools/translate to work better for adjusting things. I was surprised, though, when I moved a group of tracks and the detectors arranged along them didn't come along! I had to reselect the area they were in, and translate them the same amount. It worked fine then, just not together.

"Deleting" to close a panel without saving it works fine, but still seems wrong. I suppose there's some good programming reason it's the right word, but for me the user, close or close without saving would be clearer.

I really appreciate all the quick help! I think some of you must be so busy with this that you have very little time for your own railroads!

Jacques,
I did not see the answer in Dan's link.?
On the "Trains" page, go to "Tools" then select the "Build Report Options" then click the "Text Editor to Preview Build Reports". That will cause the build report to come up in a text editor page which you can then print.

See my other post just now about the "FF FF FF FF 0 0 20 0¡± part of that pattern.

It¡¯s normal to see it over and over. Most of the time, JMRI asks the C/MRI node for it¡¯s input status (¡°poll¡±¡±) as fast as possible, and the node replies to each (¡°Receive¡±). When you ask an output to change, you¡¯ll see one message that carries that changed info, but it¡¯ll go by quickly.

Aha! Thanks, I misunderstood. Yes, those have to be right. Perhaps there¡¯s a clue here:

32 bit output card - address 0
32 bit input card - address 1
32 bit input card - address 2
That reply pattern is interesting, because the FF FF FF FF part isn¡¯t something that a C/MRI input card usually does. So either the board address switches are set funny, or the C/MRI setup in JMRI is wrong, or perhaps both.

h, could you please check that the address switches on your cards are set to the addresses listed above? That means
- output card has DIP switches all set the same way
- the input card you want to have CS1 to CS32 on has them set so just the end one if flipped
= the input card you want to have CS33 to CS64 has the one _next_ _to_ the end one fllipped

Next, open JMRI, select ¡°Configure Nodes¡± from the CMRI menu, then click ¡°Select¡± on your SUSIC node and pick ¡°Edit¡±. This will give you the window that defines the SUSIC. Double check that the cards are defined as shown above, save and restart JMRI.

Locked XpressNet Session Log errors

Hello,

I recently asked a question about Session Logs. Unfortunately, I haven't received any information conmcerning my query.

I repeat it below, with the additional note that I get the same withJMRI 4.14.

Access to:
Win10(64bit)/JMRI 4.12+Rb6a9bb1/Java1.8.0_181
Win7(32bit)/JMRI 4.12+Rb6a9bb1/Java1.8.0_181
RaspPi - per Steve Todd's latest link.

Control: Lenz Compact (I know it's old, but seems to work) & LI-USB interface.

Things have been wortking fine for a while. I decided to look at Session Log and found some "Errors".

The defaults only effect any track you place after changing the defaults. So
you have to set the defaults before placing track if you want to select the
colors.

Hi Mike,

My guess is that you have the program in "Normal" mode.? That mode won't do car swaps for a single train.? Try aggressive mode and let us know what happens.

If you want to continue in 'Normal" mode, you need two trains, one to pull the cars off, and one to deliver them to the float.? You would build and terminate the 1st train to empty the float.? The 2nd would fine the float empty and deliver new cars.

I was referring to the address of the Output cards. Yes, polling and sensors
working, so the SUSIC is fine. But we still haven't confirmed the output
cards.

Keep in mind the message to the card is commanding the turnout positions.
Unless the sensors are detecting the turnout position, and you configure the
turnout in JMRI correctly, it is waiting for you to operate the turnout from
JMRI.

Thank you, Dave - the solution works fine. The cause isn't what you suspect (my signal icons aren't in the 4.12 tree) but it's not worth one second more of your or anyone's time.

I changed the custom signal system appearance paths from ../../../ to preference: and the icons load properly.

I suspect that the 4.12 install had a copy of the custom signal system which was being used instead of the custom signal system in the user files location.

HP:

The common here is the power to the SUSIC-I/O "ground" (-) is connected to the power (-) of the switch controls boards. If not the same power supply a 5VDC for the SUSIC and 12VDC for the switch board. Salvaged computer supply with both will have a common. Maybe a -5 or -12 if old enough so beware my (-) minus sign!

The data lines pull to low (-) to activate so if that is not common the switch boards don't see a command to change their output. Inputs too when you get there.

Should that be in place and solid...

The only thing I'm not sure of with your description is the almost solid data in LED (yellow) I'm like Ken, it's been too long... these things just work... that I diagnosed a node... Data out red should be very active if you have the input table open to watch the inputs but I thought the in should only blink when you change something.;.?

Try closing one and the other and see if the data lights change.

Another test is a temporary loop back of one output to one input... since the inputs work...

Pin one to pin one watch the input and change the output.

Way over priced for a servo, toggle switch and a couple of bits of bent metal. Check out the price of servos on Ebay or Hobbyking.

You will need a module to control servos from either DCC or a Layout Control Bus (LCB) such as Merg's CBus.
