Re: JMRI will not load
I tried a few things ...
1. First, I deleted everything from the "messages" log 2. I copied all my profiles to the C:\Users\Richard\JMRI directory (I use several) 3. I started Decoder Pro 4. I saw the WiThrottle Server window 5. I briefly saw the DP roster window 6. Re: Anyone usings MRC with JMRI?
Ah, so in theory I could use my MRC system to simply control trains and have other systems hooked up to the PC directly to control things like turnouts and signals. For some reason I thought everything on the layout had to go through the MRC system. Does everything communicate through the same bus wires that provides power to the track or some other system?
My goal is to have mainline switches and signals controlled from a computer, dispatcher CTC style, the DCC system itself only needs to control locomotives. Although being able to program decoders through JMRI decoder pro would be nice too. |

First thing to do is go to Preferences->Roster->Programmer and set Format to Advanced and "Show Empty Programmer Tabs" off (unchecked).

It appears the Rolling Thunder definition only programs the Rolling Thunder upgrade part of the decoder. You will need to use the BLI Paragon Steam definitions to program the rest of the loco CVs. -- Dave in Australia On 2 Jul 2017, at 7:03 AM, Gerald Michels gjmichels53@... Hi Jerry,
I have the same problem with the Rolling Thunder - I cannot find this at all in JMRI/DecoderPro with a Sprog. From reading elsewhere it appears that you have to have a BLI system to access this. This seems to confirm that the full effects are only available when using the BLI system ThanksPhil H?Got a specific interest? Oliver, In order to help, what type of connection(s) have you configured? What's your OS?
Have you set the editor to Turnouts and the intended connection? Do you see the items State changing in the Turnout Table when you click its symbol on the Switchboard? Egbert |

Re: Anyone usings MRC with JMRI?
Real Snow,
The MRC interfaces to JMRI ok. One issue to consider with signaling is the need to have: 1. Some way to detect where trains are on the tracks. 2. Some way to know which direction the turnouts are set. 3. Some way to control some of the turnouts remotely. 4. Some way to set the signals. I don't think MRC has anything for #1 and I'm not sure of #2. They do directly support #3 and #4. So you may find you have to mix some other types of interfaces to cover all the needs. One example would be a LocoBuffer and some of the many interface boards from RR-CirKits. JMRI is just fine mixing many different systems for different uses so this would work with your MRC controlling the trains. There are a number of other systems out there for the rest of your signaling needs and you should check around to see what provides your needs bet. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Anyone usings MRC with JMRI?
Hello, I've had my MRC Prodigy Advanced 'squared' system for 8 years now and have been very happy with it. However I've only ever used the one base station and a single tethered controller. I got it because I like the controller and programing with it is easy as can be. I am starting a new larger layout and will be needing more than a single power district, and several controllers. I would also like to use JMRI to setup an automated signaling system along with block detection. I know MRC recently got a computer interface capability but will I be able to do all these things with an MRC system or will I just be constantly beating my head against the wall? I know a lot of people badmouth the MRC system but those same people have never used one before either.
My local group of model railroaders all seem to use Digitrax, and I sure it does everything i need and more but I don't like their controllers as well and I guess I like to be different, ha |

New versions.
I take it that the Operations portion of JMRI has reached maturity with no new updates the last couple of years.

Latest test version isues
Hi guys, I loaded the test version 4.7.6+R570b2bc with Java 1.8.0_131 (en_GB), on Windows 10 64bit Version 1703 OS Build 15063.413.
Much improved in various ways, especially drop-down lists of objects from the editor in Panel Pro. I do however have some problems. 1. Signal Mast orientation is getting lost over restarts. 1.1 Also, the default orientation on a crossover seems arbitraryily set. 1.2 Also right clicking on the mast icon to bring up the menu sometimes (often) doesn't work unless you avoid the light and click the leg... 2. I am getting flashing green/red mast aspects on a cross-over. I realize that there may be a conflict in the logic. What I had hoped was that if I could choose a route by setting a signal to green manually, but when it flashes, it seems the logic is not 'active' properly, nor can I click on it to set it to an aspect. Is there a way round this? Is there a definite reason for the flashing?? 3. Had a problem loading panels after maybe adding logix or something in a test panel, but then worked ok - my layout also wont load.... 4. I am not sure if I am saving properly - when I quit out it tells me to save configuration data... but doesn't saving panels do this anyway?? What is the correct procedure for updating configuration data please?? I think some logic is getting lost over saves probably as I am not doing this right. I will look at this further... This all may not be the case in older versions... I am very happy to test further updates / provide my panels (test ones are more useful - the larger layout may give people headaches!) John |

Re: JMRI will not load
Richard,
First thing is to look at the log file from starting JMRI. Since you aren't getting a screen to interact with, you go to the files. Off the JMRI directory under your username, ex c:\Users\Richard\JMRI and then look for the 'log' directory. The file session.log is the results of the last attempt to start JMRI. You can read it with a simple text editor like Notepad. Doing a cut/paste from that into a message for us would help. The files message.log are a sequence of all your prior runs of JMRI. There may be further clues in there, but the current session is the starting point. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Hi.
I had a similar problem with my 64bit Windows 10 laptop. It was something related to Java I suppose. Just open the task manager and look for services that start with "jogamp"+a series of numbers. If they are there, try to terminate them and the jurisdiction startup should resume. Hope it helps. Roberto Il 01 Lug 2017 01:13, "richard@... [jmriusers]" < jmriusers@...> ha scritto:
