shut down / restart on keying, now no power 13
Hello all, I have a problem I'm hoping for help with. Three different times last week, my IC-7K shut off when I keyed and then immediately restarted. I've never previously experienced this in the two years I've had the IC-7K, with daily use (99% CW). The third time it shut down/restarted I was in the middle of a traffic net, which I finished after the rig restarted, no problems, and I turned off the rig as always. And then it wouldn't turn back on. I know very little about electronics, and I'd very much appreciate any thoughts. Many thanks, 73, Colin N2TQT

Band filter switching in pa board
Hi everyone, i apologize if my first post can be off topic, but hope someone can give me an advice. I have a working 7K's PA board , 2 rd100hhf1 and a driver board. I found also a empty 7000 body with fan (without front unit). I would like to use this material for building a 1,8-50-mhz 100w linear for my Hermes Lite (5W out). What is missing is a control interface for switching the different pass band filters and check the swr or power. I'll try to find a way to build something with a arduino or a Pi Pico but before starting i was thinking what must do this board. So i'm asking some guru in this forum if they can explain me , in detail, how the 7000 change the band and measure ros/pwr... If the argumented answer point to a excessive complexity of the project i can think to swap those parts with some colleague. Thanks in advance. 73 -- EA8DJR LUCA

WSJT-X Install
I have been trying to install version 2.6.1 and I get a failure message - can't find ".hamlib_settings". Should come with the WSJT program or do I need to find it somewhere? I'm using a Linovo Yoga cpu and a IC7000 with a Signalink. Thanks, Ed KE6SU

IC7000 no HF power out but VHF/UHF ok 6
I purchased the radio with this symptom. Everything seems to work for VHF/UHF. This means the driver is functioning. When I trace the HF signal with a scope past the driver I do see a signal that varies with the power adjustment. This indicates to me that the ALC is functioning. The finals were removed and checked good with a transistor checker. The HF signal through the driver output seems to lose amplitude down the path through the finals and is negligable at the antenna connector. All this through a power meter and a dummy load. I would appreciate any suggestions or help to diagnose the problem. Tommy KF4RWGL

No TX audio on JS8CALL 26
Hi Team I have an IC-7000, transmits well with hand mic both FM and SSB. Transmits Tune tone well. When using JS8CALL, audio is not getting onto the signal, I see no power fluctuation on the meter. I¡¯m using the DATA port, receiving and decoding signals fine. I¡¯ve verified the audio signal is present all the way to the pin on the DATA connector, using oscilloscope. The tune button on JS8CALL software also does not cause modulation (radio does go to TX, controlled by CAT) Now get this: I use the monitor function on the IC-7000, and I hear the JS8CALL tones on the 7300!! So the signal is getting to the radio. Do I have a DATA socket problem?? Carl KO4SSA

[IC-7000] Re: Front panel troubleshooting 15
Thanks Steve. We are down to the dreaded Logic Board on this one. The CPU is running and making system clock but none of the other clock outputs are doing anything. At the moment I have nothing in the screen and nothing into or out of the encoder. Wish I had an extension cable so I could get to the bottom of the logic board while it is running. I have seen more difficult from a serviceability standpoint but not many! Warren - WA8TOD

IC-7000 to MFJ-4416c and HSEND? 2
Hello All, I want to connect my 7000 to an MFJ-4416C voltage booster's keying circuit so I don't have to leave the booster ON - It generates rolling switching noise when just left on. Anywho, my other radios have a SEND RCA plug that goes to ground to key an amp, but the 7000 has an HSEND and the manual shows it as an input and output, so I don't want to do something stupid and let the smoke out. I would have thought all I needed to do would be connect the HSEND to either pin 1 or 2 on the 4416, but looking for confirmation. I don't care to use the VSEND for anything because this is my HF mobile, and I've got a separate VHF/UHF rig. Any suggestions, confirmations, or cautions welcome. For Sale - ICOM 7000 :( 4
It is with a heavy heart that I am looking to sell my IC7000 - This was my NPOTA rig - and it performed flawlessly. Unfortunately I no longer have time for POTA and the radio is just sitting idle. That is no way for an IC-7000 to live. This isn't my only HF rig, just wanting to downsize a bit, and have someone get some use out of this radio. It comes with the original box, manual, head separation cable, MB-105 mounting bracket and the original HM-151. The mic was modified by AB5N prior to my purchase (from a local ham I know). It is the Mic we used during NPOTA/POTA and we had nothing but great audio reports. It also has the carry handle installed. The radio is very clean both of its owners are non smoking - photos attached.. more if you want. My Call Sign is N0TRK - email direct if you want at n0trk@... Asking $700 plus shipping - Mary N0TRK

Selecting Icom 7000 Memory Channels 7
I'm able to stick the +- dup & fm tone in the memory of the A bank, then name it and save it and I can select a memory channel with the microphone. BUT... When I want to select different memory channels by depressing the PBT knob and rotating the inner knob, DEPRESSING THE PBT KNOB CHANGES THE MEMORY BANK. Am I missing a step? Gene - K7HPF

Noise Blanker
Hi All! I primarily use my IC-7000 for FT8 ops these days, where the latest "In Thing" is SuperFox mode. It's new, and we're all in the learning phase of figuring out how to get the best performance out of it. On the currently running DXPedition (N5J) I've been having some luck with improving my reception/decoding under some circumstances by turning on the Noise Blanker function and playing a bit with the controls - I suspect because the Noise Blanker is helping to squish some of my local QRN without messing with the received SuperFox waveform. However, I'd love to have a better understanding of what the Noise Blanker is actually doing, and how the NB Level and NB Width controls affect that. I'm guessing that NB is some kind of peak limiter designed to clip impulse noise (where the clipping level is controlled by NB Level?). But if so it's not obvious what NB Width would do...? (Aurally the effect of the two controls sound very similar to me). Also, is the Noise Blanker upstream of the Rx AGC? It seems like turning NB on boosts the received (good) signal a little (as seen on the waterfall) and I'm wondering whether that's because reducing the incoming noise upstream means the Rx AGC is backing off a little bit. Unfortunately my IC-7000 Instruction Manual hasn't been super helpful, other than to tell me that the NB Level control adjusts the noise blanker level and the NB Width control adjusts the noise blanker width... :-( TIA for any knowledge and advice! Driver Board Replacement, adjustments required? 5
Hello All, I have a couple of 7ks. A newer one works perfectly, as far as I can tell. An older one has low output and the driver board is suspect. I intend to replace the driver board - new parts and board are on the way. My question: following the board installation, are the adjustments (as recommended by Icom) necessary or optional? A Service Bulletin of Feb/2010 outlines a multi step adjustment procedure requiring equipment I don¡¯t have - that¡¯s the reason for this question. I want to replace the board myself, I¡¯m capable of doing that. But the adjustments I cannot do without purchasing equipment at expense. So, if the adjustments are necessary, then I might just as well replace the board and send it to Icom to do the adjustments¡ may be cheaper than buying new equipment. Any thoughts or advice from this group? Thank you for getting this far ¡. Dan. VE7CTN

(Almost) Dead IC-7000 3
Hello there! I have a 7k with the ¡°click-click no power¡± problem. I¡¯ve found a good start about it here: http://www.s21rc.net/?p=49 Tested for the C501 and C502 in the main panel board and I can say one of them is really shorted. Does anybody have or had this problem in the past, and was able to solve it? I¡¯ll try to fix it myself, but I have some doubts about how to remove the main board. Can someone give me some tips on how to remove it, especially concerning to the flat cables? I have no Icom Maintenance around, so I¡¯ll have to put my on hands into the game, so, any additional information will be welcomed. Thanks, in advance. 73 from Brazil. ------------------------------------- Edson Rocha, PU2REO eirocha@... -------------------------------------

AGC Fault? 2
G'day.... I have an IC7000 on the bench that has me stumped for an answer for a few months now, it came to me from a friend and the driver had burnt up with the owner noting that it had odd audio and the power meter would go up on SSB with no audio applied so I suspected RF getting back into the unit being the cause of the failure. I checked the driver model and it was the later type so I ordered one and replaced it. All checked ok after repair and it transmitted fine but after a few days the meter issue and bad audio returned, I put the unit on the bench, on a dummy load, no mic, just a switch and the fault persists, I measured power at the driver, nothing in, nothing out, the DC is ok with no RF on it so something is sending the unit into a fault state. I contacted Icom and they said do all transmitter alignments and have done so, no change, any clues on this one? I did see an article that the AGC sense line needs a resistor changed from 0 Ohms to 330 Ohms if the unit had an early driver and a later one fitted but as far as i know this has always had the later driver, the serial number is missing off the chassis that makes it a bit more difficult to be 100% sure on what the build was on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Regards - Tony Eagling Vk7YBG
