Memory bank selection question 3
I have numerous frequencies in all five memory banks. Using the PBT/M-ch knobs (with PBT disengaged-green light out) I can select channels turning the outer knob but I can no longer select banks with the inner knob which worked previously. I have read through the manual on this subject. I can go into the menu with the frequency/bank list and change banks that way. I am wondering if I have inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that is causing this problem with not being able to use the knob to select banks. Thanks for any info, Michael Gardner K1MLG

CAT control of 9600/1200 bps data port 10
I am interested in trying to control the 9600/1200 bps setting for the data connection to the IC-7000. Thus far I have tried and failed using the "send Command" option in FLRIG. Has anyone succeeded in doing this? According to the manual command reference this is done with command 0A so, I have tried the commands: xFE xFE x70 xE0 x0A x00 FD (for 1200 bps) and, xFE xFE x70 xE0 x0A x01 FD (for 9600 bps) . These are claimed to turn on / off the 9600 bps connection. Are there other approaches I should consider? 73, John, NX2I

PMSIC/AD1ICM with IC7000 4
I just bought these items and when I plug the adapter in to the back of the rig, the mike is already hot and the headset doesn't work. I have a foot switch attached. Any help would be appreciated. Ed KE6SU

Goes into transmit 3
Sometimes after I send CW, the transmitter will go into transmit (tx light on) and stay on even though I have quit sending. If i push the power button it will stop transmitting, I am not turning it off, it just stops transmitting. Any one had this issue? Mike KE0QKF

Preparing to somewhat dissamble IC7000 control head 3
The display has become erratic on my 7000. Powers on and operates properly. But after being on 30 minutes or so the display will blank although the radio continues to operate properly. (Installed mobile with separation cable) Often I can lightly tap or move the head about and display comes back so I suspect an internal connection is becoming faulty. Tapping or moving the remote cable around has no effect. I plan to remove the head this afternoon and take a closer look. Are there any particular pitfalls or precautions I need to take when looking into this? Thanks. Wayne Bowyer n4eyz

Icom to ATAS-100 automatic controller project 21 #all
hello, For those interrested I am starting on a project to automaticaly control the YEASU ATAS-100/120 HF antenna using an ICOM radio like the IC7000. It will be most likely Arduino based, using CI-V to snif freq, S-Meter and SWR info and the D4 antenna controller to control the radio. I am looking at multiple variation from very small package with just a couple LED indiccators to 2X16 and 4X40 LCD to TFT Color LCD with touch screen. for older ICOM radios missing some of the needed CI-V commands (pre IC-706mkIIG), I will had an SWR bridge to adress this. still a long way to go but look here for updates. 73 Richard VE2DX

Compatible Tuner with IC 7000 14
Greetings and Happy new year. I recently needed to change vehicles and I am looking to scale down the whole setup inside and outside the vehicle. I had a tri bander for 2m, 220, and 440 and simply used a mag mount for that antenna. I have decided to just run one rig to simplify things. For HF I have an Icom 7000. As most of you will agree this is an awesome radio..I can almost run with the big dogs, and certainly sound as good as most 100 watt stations. The 7000 is setup now for 2m and 440 machines in my local area and working well, for HF I was contemplating either an ATAS or maybe one of those Icom tuners with lets say a 100 inch whip or thereabouts. Anyone have experience with either of these setups? I have been told that the MFJ controller for the ATAS needs a modification to be compatible with the 7000, and once done it does not show the SWR meter during tuning. I'm thinking maybe using the MFJ control to key the radio after switching to CW so I can tune via the SWR meter. All of this fooling around to tune basically just puts me back to the system i used before. Possibly an Icom tuner at the base of the antenna with a reasonably sized whip may be so much easier. Any Thoughts? Thanks in advance Phil K2RRX Sent with Proton Mail secure emal

Loosing First LO when Changing Frequency 2
Hi, I'm having an odd issue with my IC-7000. It has an odd behavior that it will loose RX and TX when changing the frequency. Power cycling the radio allows it to come back but moving the dial will make it go deaf again. I was able to verify that the 1st LO goes away when this error happens. The 2nd and 3rd LO are still outputting fine. I probed all the inputs of the 1st DDS, 1DST/PCK/PDT/PRES/1CN0/1CN1, but am unsure what a correct input looks like. I am able to verify there is a signal going into DDS FI201 but not DDS D301 when it is in the error state. I have not pulled the metal shielding off to access IC301 directly yet. I did noticed grounding PRES while spinning the dial will reset IC301 and the 1st LO will come back to allow RX for a brief moment. I have changed out all the ribbon cables and traced the signals as close to DDS IC301 as I can. I have noticed that PRES and 1CN0 are always set high. DST, PCK, PDT, and 1CN1 will pulse when I spin the dial. Does anyone know the behavior of these inputs? Is there anything else I can try? 73, Bill N6HA

HM-151 mic cord
My IC-7000 mike cord has developed an intermittent. I see plenty on the e place for $8.99. Is there one supplier I should prefer or any I should avoid? A better place to buy one? Thanks and Happy New Year. Bill, K3PGB

Erratic output resolved
I recently acquired an IC-7000. Had several Icom units before, never 7k, but I am excited by the “ahead-of-its- time” features. After initial set up the output became erratic - screen fuzzes over on 2M transmit; must turn radio off/on to re-set power; and; very inconsistent tune-up with power on hf bands. I read a lot of “mail” about how the connectors - fuses, plugs, sockets sometimes presented a corrosive barrier ( resistance, bad connection) and that might likely be the problem. After trying to think my way through this problem - with no success - I decided to take the advice of the mail. I cleaned and re-seated the in-line fuses - no change. But after more failure, I decided to spray the fuse holders, all the PL239 sockets and the mic input plugs and sockets. That did it! A simple spray with contact cleaner in some key points, and the radio tunes like a champ on all bands with full output. So all the collective wisdom about cleaning contacts - all of them if you can - came true. Never had this problem before with any radios, but first time for everything. And, I am grateful for the “collective wisdom” and the very simple solution to a seemingly confusing issue. Dan. VE7CTN

R's instead of I's 3
Hi Michael, I admit I'm ignorant. I don't own a Morserino and don't even know what that is, but the artificial intelligence between my ears thinks this sounds like a mode A vs B problem. Just a guess. 73 Danny, K5CG HH 550-000-0609 SKCC 14257

Driver Transistor 3
Hello Group, Well down the rabbit hole I go to trying to fix the infamous blown driver board and I started to look for the PD55015 and it seems everyone is out of stock. Does anyone have an extra transistor they would like to sell or do you know of a place that might have them in stock and for a reasonable price? Thanks! 73's Mike WA3O

Worth Fixing IC-7000 suspected Blown Driver? 2
Hello group, I was driving down the road listening to 40 meters when I seen and smelled smoke. When I got home I pulled the rig body that was mounted under the passengers seat and noticed the smell was coming from the rig body. I suspected the dreaded driver board went. Is this worth fixing? I do have the technical ability to do surface mount repair. What will this cost? Will it happen again? If I choose not to fix it, what is the radio worth with separation kit? Thanks1 73's Mike WA3O
