Re: FT-817ND power takes time to reach 5 Watts after powering on
You might try doing the pa install tuning. There are 2 pots on the pa board where using inline Amp meter with pa an?adjust each pot for proper current. Must do separate for each pot.?

Re: FT-817ND power takes time to reach 5 Watts after powering on
Hi Mike!
This is definitely a sign that something in the radio is getting worn out and likely will need to be replaced soon.? Based solely on the observations you've had, my initial suspect is a

FT-817ND power takes time to reach 5 Watts after powering on
Hello,
My FT-817ND (bought new in 2004) takes some time to reach 5 Watts after first powering on.
Example: apply 12V external supply, power on rig, key down on 28.060 MHz CW.? Power is initially

Re: FT-818 Odd SWR Readings on 70 cm
Re: SWR.
My FT817ND was purchased new in early 2006. The SWR readings don't match this table:

On mine there are no SWR bars on 145 MHz, but 2 to 3 bars on 435

Re: Digirig APRS
Rick,
I was thinking something more simple (my electronics habilities goes as far
as pressing the power button). I was wondering if a Digirig and the
APRSDroid would work.

Re: Iambic mode - A or B?
Why not use the keyer as a full keyer. ?Let it control the timing. I often hear users I can tell using a bug bad dah timing is sloppy sending. The why we are called hams poor cw ops from early days

Re: need help with my old yeasu ft-817
How many hours did you spend resolving that issue?
Yaesu charges $90/hr to repair Amateur Radios, and component-level repairs for a radio may not be cost-effective. They have to balance effort, cost,

Re: need help with my old yeasu ft-817
Didn't Yaesu announce they would no longer repair original (non-ND) FT-817 radios?
Sending their FT-817 to Yaesu may not be an option for OP, depending on his specific radio...

Re: Iambic mode - A or B?
John,
I'd second the recommendation for a single lever paddle.? A single lever is pretty much the same as using a bug.? If you accidentally manually key you dashes, the keyer will still accept the

Re: need help with my old yeasu ft-817
I'm curious what they did and what they charged. I sent an FT857D to Yaesu
in California for repair a year ago. They told me they would need to
replace the main board and it would cost over $650. This

Re: need help with my old yeasu ft-817
Yes Jerry I use a great guy in South Dakota. He worked on my 817, Kenwood 2000, and Kenwood 450SAT. He does not take credit cards but the best thing is he will not charge you until you get the radio.
