Re: FTX-1 Pricing Announced
I think I will stick with the 817 for those prices. I was excited to hear of it but no way can I afford that. Kevin Mullens K5KTM

Re: FTX-1 Pricing Announced
Many years ago I built the famous Motorola AN-762 amp that puts out 100 watts with 5 watts drive on HF through 30 MHz. I get full power out of it driving it with the FT-817 except on 10 meters, where

Re: FTX-1 Pricing Announced
No, the clip-on 10w tuner (FC-80) has an MSRP of $400. I haven't looked too deeply, but there's an optional fan for FT8 operation (on a 6/10 watt radio?!), supplied battery, and an Optional ATU that

Re: FTX-1 Pricing Announced
A few notes on the price: It is the MSRP, not the ultimate street price - only folks that insist on buying the radio as soon as it is released will likely pay that price. At an eventual street price

I am on board with Zack. I have plenty of FT817s to use as IFs or TX drivers , or whatever. They are still great for a multitude of ham and non ham operations. Money is spent already. Its a known

Re: FTX-1 Pricing Announced
I am not going to spend anywhere near that amount for a radio now. I have been perfectly happy with the FT817ND, mainly used as a 144 and 432 MHz IF rig for microwave transverters. There are a few

Here they have "reservation" at $35 but no price. https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/rsv-ftx-1f#overview I can't see how it's an FT817/FT817ND/FT818 replacement just because it's 6W on battery and

Re: Strane SMA on REAR.
I mounted a small SMA on the rear of my FT817ND. It is used as the output of the IF (68,33 MHz) to watch as a spectrum display on an SDR module. I use the FUNCube dongle, as recommended. See photo.

Without any additional information we can only guess. It would be good if you could open the radio and see where the wire from the connector goes. The most likely explanation is to send an IF signal

Re: Antenna port
The BNC is too light for my huge hands... I prefer use the SO-239 on the rear. To avoid dangerous situations put a 50 Ohm or 75 Ohm impedance on the BNC.
