Re: Lubricant for sliding table
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSlider track cleaning is on my list of things on the new for me (used) K975. I have some time on my hand while in Pakistan and stumbled on a video on utube on slider maintenance. The interesting thing I learned is that the steel guides in some cases are glued therefore one needs to be careful about what to use and how to apply. So spray the cleaner on cloth and then apply to the guide. Likely not applicable to Felder but can anyone let me know how Felder and Hammer guides are secured? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhat is the difference between WD40 and Ballistol? ?They both appear to be around 60% Aliphatic Hydrocarbon with some additives. Joe in New Orleans

Re: Lubricant for sliding table
Felder recently published a TSB recommending Ballistol
as a slider lube.? This was discussed on Sawmill Creek. My slider is in an un heated workshop in NE Ohio. When I use it removes some light rust from the steel rails.? I would not use any abrasives on the rails unless absolutely necessary.? You want to keep the polished surface and not scuff it up.. Felder does have Ballistol available on there web site.? -- Jerry P |

Re: Lubricant for sliding table
I was concerned about using any form of lubricant and voiced this concern to Greg, who is their head tech and he assured me that the ballistol spray was the only spray that was Felder approved for this application..so I figured I cant go wrong..

You will find cleaning the outrigger slide on all 4 sides will help with the smoothness, just don't use any type of lube that dust will stick to. I do this monthly. If you try using an abrasive make sure you get rid of the grit unless you want to really change your bearings. Lubricant for sliding table

anyways, I was looking at my sliding table on my K975 and while it glides smoothly, it was not quite like the one at the Felder office.? I was looking into having the bearings changed on mine but was assured by Jason, that mine were fine, and to just clean the track with a maroon scotch bright pad or, take a block of wood with some 400 grit sandpaper and run it along the track. Greg Bryson also said to take some Ballistol spray and spray it along the track as well and this should make the sliding table as smooth rolling at the one in the showroom.. gonna give it a try |

Re: Butt Bar
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHumm, didn¡¯t think of not locking it down I will have to try that but 2 on all the time? Is your slider a 15 footer??I guess I can¡¯t see where it would ever mess up my flow by not using them, kinda like the air clamps if i was cutting sheet goods all day long the rear one would come off and the front wouldn¡¯t be used, I can¡¯t imagine one of my bosses back in the day would have put up with all the reconfiguring to make cuts...I would do without them now though great for the odd cut stuff in a one man shop. Also never bruised anything with the butt bar, not an issue for me - I must have small hips and small parts ??? Regards, Mark On Jan 29, 2020, at 7:44 AM, jmkserv@... wrote:

Re: Butt Bar
I have 2 parallel guides with the tables, typically on the slider all the time. They are great butt bars easy to move and having 2 is my greatest slider extravagance. They are never tightened and free to move on a whim. Without them my work flow on other sliders is totally screwed. The butt bar is a hazard IMHO, really good for bruised hips and other parts LOL. Re: Butt Bar
If your talking about the handle that you place in the back of the slider on the side to pull it back.? I was thinking of the parallel fence to use for not only supporting sheet goods, but also for moving the sliding table back in the same fashion.? But yes..the parallel arm is a lot larger and sticks out more
