Humm, didn¡¯t think of not locking it down I will have to try that but 2 on all the time? Is your slider a 15 footer??
I guess I can¡¯t see where it would ever mess up my flow by not using them, kinda like the air clamps if i was cutting sheet goods all day long the rear one would come off and the front wouldn¡¯t be used, I can¡¯t imagine one of my bosses back in the day would have put up with all the reconfiguring to make cuts...I would do without them now though great for the odd cut stuff in a one man shop.
Also never bruised anything with the butt bar, not an issue for me - I must have small hips and small parts ???

I have 2 parallel guides with the tables, typically on the slider all the time. They are great butt bars easy to move and having 2 is my greatest slider extravagance. They are never tightened and free to move on a whim. Without them my work flow on other sliders is totally screwed. The butt bar is a hazard IMHO, really good for bruised hips and other parts LOL.
