Re: cv joints wear
A couple of years ago I had an inner Cv joint go bad. The only source at the time was VW and they only had Rebuilt ones. But it has been OK ever since! About boots: If you have the money replace them

EV fuel leak smoking gun?
OK, I finally got around to fixing the sometimes small fuel leak in my 93 EV. The clamps and fuel line were cheaper then a fire extingisher anyway. Not sure where that logic goes. I may of found a

Re: Who has towed what? & VW Hitch
I bought the VW hitch package for my 2000 EV. I was disappointed to find out that they only rated it at 1500 lb. I thought it would have at least carried a class II rating. I put it on anyway because

Re: Who has towed what?.................
Ron, We have a '93 EV GL...automatic...we tow our 1700-pound pop-up trailer (probably 2000 pounds loaded), plus a full load of people around the mountains of New Mexico. The trailer has brakes, but a

Re: Ticking Noise with 2000 EV (vacuum?)
Could be the injectors. This system sounds different than our 88 Cabrio which is all mechanical fuel injection (no 2000 EV Bently Manuals yet). The sound does vary with RPM. It is odd that it is a

Todd, How can they think of crushing it? With so few EV's in this country we need every part. Looking forward to keeping my '93 going a long long time. Ron

Re: Who has towed what?.................
I was wondering if I could use my '93 EV MV with a 5 speed to tow my '74 Lotus Europa without a braked trailer. The Europa weighs around 1500 lbs. I would prefer to rent a trailer and hitch since this

Re: Ticking Noise with 2000 EV (vacuum?)
The noise is, in fact, the fuel injectors. The fuel injection system consists of a "rail" which is continuously under pressure. The injectors are electro-magnetic devices, which open and close with an

Re: automatic transmission problem in the 99 EVC
Just an update. The dealer DID install a new automatic transmission. It took 1-1/2 days to complete. I peered over the papers on the service department guy's desk and it looks like it was a 9000 DM

Ticking Noise with 2000 EV (vacuum?)
My 2000 EV has about 2500 miles on it. It has made a noise since day one. It is a faint ticking noise that you can hear inside the car but not out in the engine area. More noticable when under a load
