Re: 1993 EV - heater core failure (I think) in SoCal

So, my Eurovan did ok for about 2 weeks.? Then I think a hose failed.? I haven't had a chance to work on it yet.? I need to pull the belly pan off to find out what failed, but the coolant is bone dry right now.

I know there are some hoses that are difficult to find to purchase.? If anybody knows any good sources, please let me know.

You don't want OEM.? (Old weak lighting technology.)?
Go to Advance Auto/Autozone and ask if they will look at the spot and recommend an LED that has a projection lens on the front.? (Not a inferior reflector.)

The OEM fog lights are more 'running light' than anything else!

I'd go with the e-code kit and the Hella 550's (or equivalent) and a good relay kit to insure you get full battery voltage to the headlams.

Re: 1995 EV Camper Fog Lights? #electrical

I did the following:
- cut out the fog lights to fit with a soldering gun with the flat heat cutting tip.
- roughly welded up a couple small brackets to clamp onto the frame (tapped holes with bolts) and provide a horizontal mounting surface for the fog lights (see pics)
?? - nothing fancy
- added a dash switch and a relay near the battery for control

I find having the fog lights (wide beam, angled slightly outwards) quite useful when navigating tight (camping) spaces in the dark.

Re: 1995 EV Camper Fog Lights? #electrical

Hey Tom,

We have a 95 EV Camper as well and recently (6 months) ago installed the Bus Depot E code headlamps.?

It¡¯s really a huge improvement.

I¡¯ve thought about the fog lamp idea as well. Be interesting to see what others have done.

Re: Changing Transmission Fluid in 1995 EVC

Well, if you have VAG-COM you can use that. If not, I suppose you could stick a temperature probe down the dipstick tube (which it may have).

Changing Transmission Fluid in 1995 EVC

Have searched briefly in the archives and couldn't find an answer for this:?

Just bought a 1995 EVC and want to change the transmission fluid. I have changed the fluid several times on my 1998 Rialta (1997 Chassis) and the method for getting the fluid level correct is as described on the Baldy page, filling it mostly up and then running it until the temp reaches 105 before adding fluid to top off. I can tell the trans fluid temp there using my scanguage.?

But on the 1995 EVC - no scanguage and no inexpensive way I've found to tell what the transmission fluid temp is. So - is there a way to tell when it's at the correct temperature to complete the fill? I know my trans is a CUG, which I think is an 01P, and takes the same filter and gasket as the 1997, so I'm hoping that the pan setup is the same; i.e., the overflow tube that tells you when to stop adding fluid. If that's correct - I still need to know when it's at the right temperature to do that. Any help and advice is appreciated.?

New ign switch now key is turning tight

Ref 02 mv . Finally got the new ignition switch installed and everything back together. Now van starts right up but I notice the key turn is fairly tight - not really binding but it's a tight turn. The new and old switch have a D shaped opening on the cylinder end. Question; is there an alignment with something in the cylinder that I should have done? The switch slid right into the housing and the screw lined up fine. Or is there a breakin-in period before it loosens up? Don't remember a stiff key turn when or since van was new. Advice from the group always appreciated.

norcold relighter board failures

I've rebuilt 5 norcold fridges now, including for a few friends so I feel like I know these units pretty well.? recently a 2 y.o. board went out in my 97.? ?when I peeked under the fridge at night and started the fridge I could tell the fridge lit and stayed lit but the light failed to come on and the re-lighter board kept sending current through the ignition wire, which I could tell because it continued to send the tic tic tic tic sound.? So the fridge fired but the board didn't recognize this and kept trying to light the fridge.? I ordered a new board and installed it, and all was good for 2 months, but then my combiner/isolator failed and I ran my aux batter down to 8v w/o realizing it.? at the same time my new re-lighter board failed in exactly the same way.? I think that the first time the board failed was also after an AUX batter fail, so does anybody know if a very low battery can nuke this re-lighter board, as it seems to me?
