New ign switch now key is turning tight

Ref 02 mv . Finally got the new ignition switch installed and everything back together. Now van starts right up but I notice the key turn is fairly tight - not really binding but it's a tight turn. The new and old switch have a D shaped opening on the cylinder end. Question; is there an alignment with something in the cylinder that I should have done? The switch slid right into the housing and the screw lined up fine. Or is there a breakin-in period before it loosens up? Don't remember a stiff key turn when or since van was new. Advice from the group always appreciated. Spencer 02mvwk
