Re: Retrofit GM 215-464 Vapor Canister to 1997-2000 Eurovan

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

VW Part number is 7D0201801?

Of interest, the part is showing as "AVAILABLE FOR ORDER" on :?

I'm very skeptical it's actually available, but if anyone needs one, perhaps you should try ordering, and let us know if it's really available or just "vaporware" (haha)

He said that it would not pass visual inspection, but there is a referee process one could use to try to get approval.? However, he's mostly seen people trying to get non OEM catalytic converters approved, and has never heard of anybody getting a non-OEM vapor canister approved.? His opinion was that it would be difficult, because (A) it's a GM part and (B) it's in a different location than stock.

In any case, I told him that I had the original canister which was in (somewhat) working condition.? He said that if I brought the van in with no OBD II faults and all readiness codes set, with the OEM canister installed, it would pass.

So that's what I did.? I left the GM canister in place, zip tied the hoses up out of the way, and re-installed the WV canister.? It took about 30 minutes to swap it and pass smog.?

I have 2 years till the next smog check, so that gives some time to decide what to do next - perhaps some third party will start making these parts again?? Perhaps I'll try the referee process?

Re: Not even sure what this is, but rivets failed on firewall

A pop rivet gun and correct pop-rivets probably cost $20 or so, and is the appropriate solution.
And then you'll have a pop rivet gun in your toolbox for future use.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Rivets would probably be best.

Guessing a sheet metal screw to remount would suffice... unless anybody has any other suggestions?

Re: 1993 EV - heater core failure (I think) in SoCal

Here are a couple of photos form the front of the radiator.

From what I can tell the last time I had it at running temperature, the leak was coming from the top connections in these photos.? You can see the discolored drip line down the left side of the radiator adjacent to the connections.

Regardless, I think I'll just swap the radiator as this one looks toast anyway.

Are parts for engine code AFP good for my vehicle, which belongs to engine family VVW2.828GFGM as shown on a plate on top of the radiator.

Re: 1993 EV - heater core failure (I think) in SoCal

Duane, ok, that makes sense.? I'll check the diagrams to confirm if/where the meet up.??

Since the heater core is by-passed I suppose it could just be left over coolant?? Though, I'd say about a 1/2 cup leaked.

Sounds to me like there may be a leak in the heater core, resulting in the coolant coming out that tube.? Normally it's only condensation from the a/c evaporator.

Re: 1993 EV - heater core failure (I think) in SoCal

I¡¯ve never replaced a radiator. Thinking I should be able to handle. I¡¯ve got manuals ?

Anybody have thoughts/tips on 93 radiator replacement?

Re: 1993 EV - heater core failure (I think) in SoCal

Hi Ken. Thanks for the reply

The first leak (ac condenser tube) - would that be a coolant leak? ?I put a bowl under, and it collected pink coolant. Is that by design?

1997 Eurovan (12v VR6 EVC): Strong Gas Smell on Passenger Side

Hey all,

My 1997 EVC developed a strong gas smell on the passenger side (opposite the gas cap/charcoal canister). My sense of smell isn't very good, but it seems strongest near the passenger front wheel well, near the catalytic converter. Suggestions? Where to start? Nope, I'm not driving the van until diagnosed/repaired.

Thanks in advance,

Hey everyone. Getting a divorce and need to sell our 1995 Full Camper. Know anyone or you need a second? :)

It is posted on CL for $27K. Hoping to get that much as I need to get another car after, however, it can be slightly negotiated (would take $25K). She has been an amazing vehicle and companion for the past few years.

Re: 1993 EV - heater core failure (I think) in SoCal

The first coolant leak near the fuel filter is not a leak - it is the a/c condensation tube. Feel it and you will see it is a rubber hose. Will 'leak' with the a/c on.
Given the steam coming out, second leak is likely from the radiator. The only connections on the radiator are the inlet and outlet, both on the driver's side, along with a screw in connection for the coolant temp sensor on the passenger side. Given that it appears it is in the middle of the radiator I would suspect a leak. The other tubes running the length of the radiator are separate - the power steering tube is a black aluminum finned tube that runs the length and back in a u-shape. The a/c condensor is a separate radiator in front of the engine radiator.
Hope that helps.

Happy to reconnect

Was with the ev-update until a couple of years ago when messages stopped coming. Took me a bit of effort to reconnect but think I made it back.
