RNIB Connect Radio is streaming again
Someone mentioned here a few days ago they could not hear RNIB Connect radio on the Stream or Trek.? I noticed yesterday it is there again so it must have been a fault at their end.
It may bve such outages are announced on Facebook or Twitter but I do not have either.? Apart from social media I cannot see how they could have told listeners in any other way about this loss of service. Another example I fear of how those outside of social media platforms are simply left to work it out for themselves. Ray. |

There is a lot of information on the web but things were not clear to my untill I finally did two things: 1. download audible book without my victo connected to my p.c. 2. connecting victor to the p.c. after downloading the book with audiblesync 3. Dear friends,
After downloading the newest version of audiblesync and connection my victor to my p.c I succesfully signed into the app. I cannot see the name of my device but Jaws reads that my usb is activated. I can see the content of my device ans also the content of my audible library (I already copied older audible books from p.c. to my vrs manually. But .. when I select a book from my library to be downloaded downloading seems to proceed but stops afte 10 - 20 percent. Instructions for VR Trek
I just came on some posts via the latest digest of the Access-UK list on getting help with layout of the Trek and getting manuals for it.? This was in response to an email lamenting the fact that it would seem you do not get a CD or anything with instructions when you buy a Trek, so these links included in the edited posts might be useful to store for future reference.
If you have an iPhone, one thing you could do is download the HWBuddy app. This among other things points you to full descriptions of all Humanware products. The Trek is definitely there, so you should be able to get started independently of sighted help. you can find manuals and software related to your product on the support page of Humanware at and for the direct page to download manuals in either Word or HTML formats go to Ray. |

I might ask Humanware about this new Trek but quite honestly I doubt if they will tell me anything.? They seem to be shy of releasing any publicity ahead of any official press release. My contact with Humanware UK will be as much about my problems with my Trek and it not charging because of the faulty USB socket which is a well known problem with the Trek.? Ray. humanware are bringing out the new victor reader trek but not sure when it will be available. it has a lot of improvements on the existing version including having a camera in it, a better gps chip that will work with the galileo satellite system and do indoor navigation. they described that when wanting to be guided to somewhere that is in a building the gps would get you as close as possible, then the camera would take over to guide you right to the door and beyond. they've taught it thousands of different types of doors and windows and such like by taking photos so that it can easily recognise different things. ------------------------------ |
New upgraded VR trek rumours and Trek woes
Just read an interesting bunch of posts on Access-UK list telling us a replacement for the Trek is on its way although I cannot find a source of news about this from Humanware or anyone else.
This coming at a time when i too am now having problems with USB power connectivity and charging of the battery in my Trek.? Given it cost typically more than ?200 to get this repaired I am not best pleased and I know I am by no means alone having this problem.? At least I can charge the battery in an old VR Stream I have, but its a nuisance. I am pasting what little has emerged about the new Trek but claims of it being able to access the European Galileo satilite navigation system are not likely to be true, that is unless HW can negotiate with the EU itself on this - (don't hold your Breath! Boris and the forever talk it up propaganda nonsense that surrounds Brexit would have us believe their will be a British competitor to Galileo but I for one do not believe this will fly, and if it does it is unlikely Humanware or anyone else will be using it. So, here's one digruntled Trek user who can hardly afford to get his Trek repaired at the moment, but is looking warily at more news of the new Trek.? Ok no problem, go to the humanware website, look for the software section, you can download all the different voices, download the voice pack you need, put it on the sd card, plug your stream in to charge it up and then turn the stream on, it will up-date and you'll have the voices, I prefer the u.s. voices, Heather and Thom, also you don't get the volume announcements.
