Re: Ray: Introduction
Hi Ray and all new members, thanks for joining the new vrstreamuk group, I have a few settings to check on the group and so far there are six on here but hopefully that'll increase over the next few days. Please feel free to pass the word around as I am not on many groups over here. Enjoy the group.

Peripherals For Victor Trek
I've had my Trek since November or December and still have not received my case or the cords for the NLS cartridge.? I know of folks who received their trek recently and got the whole package.
I really don't want to call complaining to Humanware but I guess I could make an inquiry about this to them.? But just curious if anyone else who have had their machine for awhile has gotten their cases and such. |

I am Clive from Hythe, Kent, UK.? Thank you,

I have the victor Reader Stream 2 and mainly use it
for podcasts, internet radio, music and BBC radio dramas.? As I have GPS on
my Kapsys smartVision 2 phone I don't have the need for the victor reader
Trek.

I look forward to hearing others' experiences on

Lynn, I'd call Humanware. I bought mine from Roger Boem in June, got everything. In a few weeks, the thing stopped working, had to return to Humanware - bad SD card. I had no idea a bad SD card could make the machine not work. It makes me a little insecure. How to I prevent that?

Re: Greetings from the UK
开云体育Hi Clive and all on the group. I am only happy to run this group. I enjoy running them. Obviously it will get more popular as time goes on but we have 15 members so far. ? As for the stream, I have my two original streams which I haven’t used in a long time and I have my two mark 2 streams. I don’t have the new treck, for me it is pointless as I always have a sighted person with me. I am not certain what benefit it will be to me being in a wheelchair in any case. ? I use my streams for music, books, podcasts, internet radio and the reference section. As I said though although I will modify this if necessary but we can discuss any of the various audio book devices on here so feel free to chat about any of them, it’ll be interesting to have a comparison between the different gadgets. ? Ok guys happy posting. ? Regards Adrien ? Skype with me on adriencollins06 ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Clive Pallett

Re: Greetings from the UK
Hi again List.
Clive's comment about sticking with the VRS2 is interesting as I think someone else has said that here too.? I won't of course get the full value of my VR Trek until I do learn to use the orientation application.? That said, I will say that the Trek is a good deal faster than its predecessor.? It boots more quickly; downloads of podcast are speedier.? I think firmware downloads are snappier too if the recent update to give us UK post codes and Audible support is anything to go by. I do have one problem I'll start another thread to describe, namely, the problem of switching between National BBC streams in the UK playlist.? I venture to ask though before I attempt to describe the problem whether anyone else with a Trek is having a problem here. No doubt list traffic will be busier when we have the FM radio app going in the next update. I wonder where Humanware will take the Trek in future, (or do I mean "going forward" as is often said now!? Could other app funtions be incorporated??? Ability to stream podcasts as well as download them?? Access to the BBC iPlayer - (although accessing your BBC account could be a stumpling block here.)Alarms, Count down timer? Well, all that possibly for another thread like Trek wish list. Ray. |
Re: Peripherals For Victor Trek
Okay, Caralyn's comment is clearly related to the US Trek as such a protection dongle isn't required as yet here in the UK.
Its revealing re. delivery, that we aren't the only one's in the UK to have a less than perfect roll-out of the Trek.? Something HW should watch considering the competition from mainstream suppliers. Ray. |

Ok I have not seen a treck so have not been following any of the traffic on it on various lists. With the treck was that the end of the vr stream mark 2 or can we still get the mark 2? I myself wouldn't benefit from the treck, I wouldn't want to pay the price for it. I wouldn't use the features it offers. Regards Adrien Skype with me on adriencollins06 -----Original Message-----

Re: Greetings from the UK
Yes Adrian, HumanWare haven't retired the Stream but kept it on as a cheaper alternative to the Trek.

Ok that is great, I think the stream mark 2 is sufficient for most of us. If it was discontinued it would mean us looking elsewhere for something but I think personally I'd have to go a long way to find something as useful in my view as my stream.
