Re: Surplus tooling sources
开云体育I can't help you with the drills. I have a decent amount of carbide inserts that I cannot use along with tool holders that may or may not fit the inserts. The tool holders would need a BXA minimum QCTP -some larger. Location is Indianapolis. If you have interest, I can try to get specifics in a few days.Lost Creek Machinery is in Ottawa, IL. That is the nearest used/surplus dealer I know about from Indianapolis. On 5/10/2024 2:57 PM, Oz-in-DFW via

The pulley came in today and is now mounted and I was pleasantly surprised the pulley and gear are now two separate pieces staked together with two locking screws and both parts are machined instead of cast. The gear and pulley appear to be made from aluminum which I feel is better overall than zamak. While I was happy to see that the part I would be putting on was superior to the one that failed, I have to complain that the part didn't work out of the box. |

Gret news! got an email from Clausing this morning and the part is still available, they? actually have 7 in stock if anyone comes across this with a similar need. They are pretty dang proud of that gear as it was 310 bucks but if the other lasted xx years I feel ok spending it. I will try and use the new one to pull measurements and still proceed with the plan outlined so I can have a spare and will share what ever I come up with. Thank you everyone for your input your help was invaluable as I felt very crushed when it occured and this message board helped alleivaiate the despair!

Re: MK 2 Drive gear
If you can find the spec for the gear (and/or gears) but not find anything stock available or affordable, you may be able to create your own 3D model(s) using a gear generator app.? I did this a few years ago for a woodworking project.? I was working with a vendor that would use a CNC router to produce templates of some gears I wanted for making the gear toy for my granddaughter.? I was a rank novice at Fusion 360, but after generating 2D drawings (model), I managed to extrude them in F360 in 3D models.? I sent those to the CNC router guy and he cut out the gear templates.? In the end, it was never completed, but producing the gears was a success.?
I used a meant for woodworking, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work for this.? I'm sure there must be others as well and there may be some that actually generate the 3D model directly.? Gear Generator App 3D gear model I created in Fusion 360 Gear Toy |

Someone had reached out to me and made me aware that I have committed a rookie message boards mistake by not mentioning that I had posted the same question to another group. Thinking about it if someone in the future has the same issue in the future they would benifit of having the responses of both sets of? groups. I will just post a link to the other thread here /g/Atlas618lathe/topic/atlas_mk2_broken_gear/105915305

deleted the previous post accidentally so posted it below for cotext but yes the CF is carbon fiber as long as you have a enclosure it prints fairly easy but it does wear out the nozzles fairly quickly.? ? CF PA-12 is magnificent stuff I have printed functional parts with it in the past with pretty good success, never gears but it is extremely wear resistant if I did print the gears that's what I would be using.? |

And 0.2mm nozzles if dialed in makes parts that look like they were injection molded...? :-)

开云体育Nylon is also available as glass reinforced. I've done a little on an ender 3 s2 pro but don't have dialed int to my liking.? It also need a post printing heat cycle. Greg Sent from my T-Mobile 5G Device |
Re: MK 2 Drive gear

I would have to cut a new bearing as there are 2 in it currently one on the front half and one on the back. It has an oiler in there so the space inbetween the bearings gives the oil a resivoir to gradually oil the inner and outer bearings. I think this is a little redundant and I could get away with a single pieice of self lubricating bronze forget what they call it oolite??

Re: MK 2 Drive gear
? ? How about cutting the old gear off the bearing and pressing a new one on in its place? Maybe a piece of AL you could cut teeth in ? ? What shape is its mating gear in?
