The sleeve type 3MT to 2MT adapter is to be greatly preferred over the much more common tang type in that at least the Atlas made one does not hang the 2MT widget out in front of the spindle nose.

A Morse #3 solid center or a Morse #2 solid center in a Morse #3 sleeve will fit your headstock spindle equally well. I¡¯d go with the sleeve, though, for several reasons. The #2 centers are cheaper.

when ya go to buy extra holders , get the #2 & not the plane #1 , the #2 allows square & round tools along with some boring bars . & ya can turn the knurler bout face & use that for a square tool
