Re: Atlas / Craftsman 10F-12 10" & 12" Lathe Half Nuts / Split Nut
Steve I agree, I did not have to file any edges. I am including two pics about the spacer washer that I mentioned earlier. [email protected]> wrote:

Re: Atlas / Craftsman 10F-12 10" & 12" Lathe Half Nuts / Split Nut
I am at a loss for why one would pay double for an item from E-bay when an OEM part is available new direct from Clausing.? Not interested in zamak bashing.? Evidence does not support it.

Re: 3D Printing Files for Gears, etc
Thanks for the links! One caveat for the gears from Gadget047, he says he designed them with a 20 degree pressure angle. IIRC, the original gears have a 14.5 degree pressure angle. Got to get my

Re: Atlas / Craftsman 10F-12 10" & 12" Lathe Half Nuts / Split Nut
No filing of the corners was necessary, the brass half nuts had generous chamfers already machined by the maker. Steve Haskell

Re: 3D Printing Files for Gears, etc
Too bad someone hasn't done that for all the gears and such in the 9/10/12 inch Atlas/Craftsman lathes, though some of them are available on Thinginverse. I'm trying to learn enough CNC/CAD stuff to

Re: 3D Printing Files for Gears, etc
Just in case anybody does not know, the gears for the craftsman 109, are the same gears that will fit the Atlas 618 and craftsman derivatives, I own both lathes and interchange gears at will.

3D Printing Files for Gears, etc
I don't know if anyone has a 3D printer on this group, but in case you do (or know someone that does), I modeled all of the gears, the keyed hub, banjo, lathe handle, and a transposition gear for my

Before you take any drastic action, check to see if your lathe has a belt tensioner and if it is in the correct position. After these check out, and the belt is still loose, it means you have a

BTW: I am not certain brass is the best choice of material. I think the E-Bay sellers are machining them from brass because it is a common material, easy to machine, and is much softer than the

The only adjustment I know of for the brass split nut is the same as for new ZAMAK from Clausing; Gently file a chamfer on the leading edge of each of the threads. Atlas published a tech note on this

Re: Sears model number?
The Atlas/Craftsman lathe that was identical to the 618 except for badges and nameplate was the 101.21400. It was made and sold from mid-1957 through 1972. It replaced the 101.07301 and was in turn
