Kind have gone through this in other discussions in other forums, but does anyone have a clean workpath between creating a base level song in the QY70/100 and then working into it with other tracks in a DAW. The goals would be to largely preserve the sounds from the QY, the midi data and editability. Have not found an XG library (VST) or a QY compatible way of doing this. Perhaps some old software and an XG sound card or something....? Looking for ideas as I've maxed out some of the writing I can do on the QY and want to integrate with some more 'contemporary' recording techniques. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi guys, Many thanks for setting this forum up. I had a dbxg50 on a turtle beach tahiti sound card, a long time ago! I brought a qy70 last year for the sounds, I want to map midi controller to effects parameters etc, and would also like to run a midi editor on the big screen. I used to have XgEdit, however I have struggled to find it online. The copy I did find doesn't have a selection for qy. I wanted to ask the group how best to do this? Many thanks Regards Ian

Greetings, I am working with some syncopated phrases and I put them into a pattern in the QY100 to turn it into a loop trainer because I don't think it has an AB function. I found that after I did that I could not change the pattern length so that I could focus on the first two bars of a four bar phrase for example. Is there a work around? Thank you. First of all a big thank you to the admins of this group for providing a place to discuss all things QY100. I wanted to make a post detailing a solution to QY100 USB MIDI backup that worked for me. The situation seems to be fraught with card readers that stop the QY100 recognizing the data card and cheap usb midi adapters with small buffers. I was able to use some free software to get around all this and avoided having to pay a lot of money for a better usb midi adapter. If anyone is interested I will post more.

Hello everyone Is anyone familiar with clearing the internal memory? I can’t find any info in the book My card still says I have plenty available. But am I correct in assuming this has nothing to do with the internal memory? As it stands I can’t do anything in regards to recording Any help or thoughts are greatly appreciated Thanks Dan

This is the second time I have attempted to poste a message so I am not sure if there is a problem somewhere. I found a way that works for me to backup the QY100 using a cheap USB Midi adapter. It uses free midi software and means that I avoided having to buy a more expensive USB Midi adapter. If anyone's interested I will post an explanation.

Hello! Driving myself crazy here. I have more than one QY100 and one appears to have gone rogue. Its versions are 1.36 and 1.00. I can get it to make sounds playing its own keyboard but I can't get it to respond to anything sent to MIDI in. I've tried a keyboard and a sequence and I have run the MIDI in/out test which came back OK. I am often confused by the MIDI utility page on the QY100, so I don't mess with it if I can avoid it. I would assume I have got something wrong there, except I have tried the same settings on aother unit and they work, and I have tried the settings from the other unit in the rogue unit and they don't. I'd assume a hardware fault if it wasn't for the test result. My other two units have a higher OS version and a lower - 1.38 and 1.04. I've done a factory reset. So, I'm out of ideas and any suggestions would be gratefully received. Best Giles

Hello, I'm a beginner in the world of music - I know an OK amount of basic vocabulary and how things fit together. The main instrument I practice on is a digital piano. I have a QY100 because it was under 100$ so I had to snatch it up, and I've been slowly wrapping my head around it. I like that it pulls me away from screens and other distractions. I was wondering if you folks with more experience can think of ways to use the features of the QY100 as a learning tool for different things that translate well in general - not just as accompaniment. The only thing I can think of right now is practicing timing - recording into the sequencer without quantizing, and analyzing the data in the "tracker-like" menu. Any way to practice scales when out and about, or "ear training", or chords? I know there are apps out there, but I'd like to learn and use this tool to get to know it better. Thanks!

Hello, I'm a noob, I was wondering if I could plug in the audio output of my digital piano (that I use for my headphones) into the input of the QY100? That way I can use the QY100 to play accompaniment tracks to practice piano. Thank you, BG

So I've had a little over 24 hours with my new (old) QY100, and for the most part it's everything I'd hoped it would be. However, I didn't realize that it doesn't have the QY70's groove quantization/templates ( https://www.manualslib.com/manual/196930/Yamaha-Qy70.html?page=98 ) —instead it uses per-track swing. The QY100 also seems to be missing some preset styles from the QY70 (Joe Orgren's QY70 FAQ mentioned styles like "DrmnBas3" ( https://www.johannes-emmerling.de/xp-30/QY70_FAQ.htm#ripoff ) , which isn't in the QY100's preset style list ( https://jp.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/0/318130/QY100E2.pdf ) ). From the information in Yamaha's KB ( https://usa.yamaha.com/support/faq/music_production/1656.html ) and the QY70 FAQ ( https://www.johannes-emmerling.de/xp-30/QY70_FAQ.htm#70vs100 ) , I'd assumed the QY100's features were a superset of the QY70. But it seems like the reality is a little more complicated. So I'm curious: * Does anyone know of other QY70 features that didn't make it to the QY100? * QY70 owners: How useful is the QY70's groove quantization feature and its groove templates?

I just booted my QY100 into test mode for the first time, and it looks like this: *QY100 TEST* MAIN ROM Ver=1.38 SUB CPU Ver=1.00 Everything I've read has said that the last QY100 Firmware was 1.37, so I'm wondering how this one has 1.38. Does anyone know anything about it, or how it's different from 1.37?

Hi. Does anyone know a way to mute or solo individual pattern tracks whilst playing a song? ( Drums, Perc, Bass etc) I am not using the other 16 tracks so they are irrelevant. However I would like to record each pattern track in a song to separate tracks in my DAW. That requires muting the tracks or soloing the one I want during several plays of the song. Sync by midi clock works fine. I just cant seem to find a way to do this but I know I used to be able to on my old QY20. Thanks

?Years ago, I had looked into alot of replacement backlit LCDs and one thing I noticed about potential replacements is that the driver chip (T6963C) always seemed to be actually built-in to the display, but in the QY schematics the driver appears to be on the main PCB, which I always assumed made them incompatible replacements. Hi all, I just thought I'd ask what you all use to protect your QY's when you take them out of the house? (I've got two QY70's) I can't see anything like a DeckSaver that would fit. I carry mine in a padded bag, but it's loose inside and I'm nervous about the screen, particularly, with the power supply knocking about inside with it. All thoughts and ideas welcome :) Regards Andy

anyone out there have a RM1X as well as a QY70/100 ? i wasn't looking at hardware when the RM1X was new, so it's a fairly recent discovery. similar concept, and XG also, with its own factory styles, more 'sections', etc etc it is making me focus more on 'phrases', which i've tended to overlook on the QY.
