I have a trouble with my beloved QY70 , when i turn on the screen show short anim and freezes with QY70 logo, nothing more. I try reset with usual key combinations but only show a clear screen if i press reset buttons song+patt+>> even with other combination oct up +oct dwn + F1 nothing. I start to change the old caps but not all , only some. Anyone can help me? Txs

Eric delivered a prodigious RemoteSL mapping mega-multimix for the QY70/100 :-D it was not without some little flaws, but i can attest that it works - i don't know how many people tried it out at the time, and tbh the prospect of reworking and refining it at that point was a little bit overwhelming (!) (i went off and briefly examined the prospect of doing something in Ctrlr, and then went on a huge detour learning Lua scripting language/coding) i think it was done for mk1 RemoteSL (which i have, dual LCD screen seeming preferable). do any of you have a Novation RemoteSL ? (mk1) Eric, you pulled this, i think, at some point while the Yahoo group still existed. any reason why? do you have any objection to posting the links now? - i think it bears a revisit, for anyone with the courage haha i also picked up a RM1x not long after, so i shifted my attention to that a bit. and kinda burned out on programming anything, having to end Ctrlr programming abruptly to concentrate on pressing real-life matters, since which i seem to have lost the appetite for that kind of thing. :-/ the midiCC stuff is straightforward, but it got interesting with the sysex, and seeing what bits of the sequencer operation could be accessed - and then we found out the Styles could only be selected by SongSelect system message F3h, which is neither CC nor sysex, and not available on most controllers. AKAIK there is no RemoteSL template set for Yamaha XG out there. this 'Ultimate QY' set could be the basis for offshoots, using fewer than the *39* pages used - ?curated responsibly in the files here? - if anyone has the stomach to re-examine and maybe come up with specific smaller templates for particular aspects of the whole - which is probably the most elaborate set of RemoteSL templates anyone has made, ever LOL i pulled my ZeroSLmk1 out for the first time in ages the other day, and it has something else on it now, but i don't mind loading it up again, with the *.blk file, and exporting individual pages. wish i was more organised and could provide a video or some evidence of it interacting with the QY. Eric? any thoughts?

Hello everyone, I have just acquired a dead and broken QY100. It turns on and is stuck at this garbled LCD screen with a repeating pattern. No button response. Is this symptomatic of failing capacitors? How can I bring this thing back to life? I have decent soldering tools, and a multimeter that I don't really know how to use. :) [image: IMG_3022.jpg] Thanks, Matt

Hi all, Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. I've got some songs in my QY70 that I would like to get into Logic to finish off, but I don't have access to a working copy of the datafiler software. Is there another way to get the songs off it? Thanks, Andy

Hey there! Nice to see theres a little driving community going on for these fellas! I do have a problem since i bought a keystep pro to control some of my synths including the QY. It doesnt matter where i search or try to do some change in the menu of it, i just cannot find the option of turning off the omni modus, even tho thhere is some stuff written in the data manual. So what happens is that i can hear the qy100 on all of my tracks which is obviously super annoying. I really hope theres a simple soloution for this :D Thx in advance! Cheers

Hello! I wonder if anyone can help me? I've been using my QY100s as tone generators driven from Cakewalk. When I've finished creating my sequences in Cakewalk I plan to upload them to the QYs so I can be PC-free when I play gigs, but that's another subject. What I'm hoping someone can tell me is how to select the drum kits by sending bank/patch from the PC. It's so easy to select the voices but I can't seem to find how to select the drum kits and I have to admit I'm not very good at reading MIDI implementation charts. I've spent quite a lot of time on this to no avail so I'm really hoping for someone to put me straight. Many thanks Giles

Greeting & salutations all: I am glad to see there is a community for these! The bad news would be that I got out my QY100 for the first time since I won it in an EBay auction towards the beginning of last year: When I first turn it on, I get the “low back up battery” message. I have changed the AA batteries a few times, but the message persists. Also, I noticed that the data I enter in does not save when I turn it off. So I have two questions: (1) does anyone know the fix for this problem? and (2) I currently do not have a card for my QY-will I still be able to save data when my card arrives? (Found an 8mb on EBay for a good price: probably should have asked these questions before I ordered the card!). I am thankful for any help or advice. SVG

Hi everyone I m Dan and I’m new here ,also thanks in advance So I decided to dust off my old qy100 Plugged it in and no problems ,ran fine and had fun On then 2nd time I turned it on the screen lite up as usual with the exploding graphics But then went dark Is there anyone here who can give insight to the issue? Hello All, just unable to update my YamahaQY100 to the 1.37 Latest ROM and have tried everything I can find.......even the guide details in the manual.....using MidiOx and a host of other ideas. I load the Data into my Windows 10, after connecting the QY100 to my laptop with a new UX16 Yamaha Midi -usb connector......follow all the download details (a red LED shows on the Cable)......but the QY100 just shows 'Waiting........', whatever I do to send the Data into the QY100. Iv'e also tried at least 3 midi player apps.......but no shifting the data in the QY100. Can Anyone help me......please.....I think I'm going a little mad. Thanks. Outlook for Android

This has probably been asked before (possibly by me.....): Current workflow involves writing some midi clips and then finding a very convoluted method of recording them to User Styles on the QY, which I then use to mess around with Chord templates, re-instrumentalizing etc. When it works, it works. When it doesn't my mind starts to wonder if there isn't a simpler way of composing styles and patterns and passing them as .Q1P files via the card. Any thoughts for a mac user? Alternatively I could break down and try and recreate an old windows rig but that also seems like the 'long way around' (still i would be interested if anyone is using ANY software to compose styles and patterns for the QY's). So, Ive been playing with moving some of my QY tracks and songs (patterns and tracks) in my DAW. Both my Audacity and Abelton, attempts have left the sound not coming through very clearly. Have narrowed it down to either my Scarlett 2i2 interface being terrible (always a possibility) or that I'm not using the right cables to output. Has anyone tried outputting the QY for recording purposes? Any tips on carrying the sound quality from the headphone jack out to a computer. Sounds as good as it always has on headphones but not able to get the same quality signal to my computer.... odd. Thanks in advance!!

Curious if anyone writes on the QY then edits on a computer then back to the QY. And wondering if XGworks is some solution to that, or if there is something else that would be better. Ideally something that can allow for editing of XG parameters not common to general midi. Thanks!

Strange thing: never attempted that with the 100, but il's my standard workflow with the bigger brother (QY700). I do tracking in Reaper, simply setting bpm and tempo in the DAW same as on the sequencer, and sync just using plain MIDI Clock/SPP (DAW as master). Then, solo a lrack and record, rinse and repeat for all tracks. All perfectly lined up. You've tempted me to give a try tracking like this the QY100: I'll report back when done!

Hello all, I just got a QY100 that came with a 128Mb SM Card. I purchased a Dynex card reader ( https://www.amazon.ca/Dynex-All-In-One-Card-Reader-DX-CR121/dp/B000V778UM ) and tested it initially on my Linux Mint machine. It detected the reader, but not the card, so I tried it on Windows 10, and it mounted it properly. I was able to back up the files that were on the disk. However, if I try to access the card from the QY100, I get a "Format? Yes/No" screen. Neither option works and I get stuck in a loop of "Formatting...Mounting...Format? Y/N" . Even choosing "Yes" doesn't work, because the files are all there when I mount the card back. Interestingly enough, after the first Win10 mount, I am able to mount it on Linux, so it's like mounting it on Win10 created something to make it readable on computer, but unreadable on the QY100. the card was readable on the QY100 before I attempted to see what was on it. I have tried formatting it in Linux (Various FAT16 formats) and deleting the partition to try and format it directly in the QY100, but that didn't work. Does anyone have a solution? Hello QY group! A long time ago, I recorded some real-time 'jamming' on a Rm1x into a QY100. Basically, I had a style (in Pattern Mode) ready on the Rm1x, and connected the MIDI out from the Rm1x into the MIDI in on the QY100 ... And then I recorded the MIDI output of the Rm1x into the QY100 while using the real-time controls on the Rm1x ... So I was essentially using the QY100 like a Roland MC-50 or Alesis MMT-8 to simply record what was happening on the Rm1x. I recorded a handful of performances like this, until such point as I finished one of these 'songs' and noticed that the QY100 had stopped recording and was showing a message saying that it was full. And now I'm ready to (finally) revisit these performances and see what I actually have. I figure the most logical (and easiest) option will be to import these files into the Rm1x ... But I'm curious about how this would be done. I've been having a look online and at the QY100 manual, and it looks like I'd want to use the 'Save' function and save as a SMF to a memory card. Alternately, it appears I could use the 'Bulk Dump' function and import to my computer ... So first I'd be curious if anyone has advice on which of these options will be best in this case. And then after that, I'm not sure how I would get this data back into the Rm1x. Although I do have a USB 2.5" floppy drive that I can connect to an old MacBook Pro ... But before going further, I'm hoping someone on this list has done a similar thing and can provide some insight. Since I've only really used the QY for this purpose, any advice will be appreciated!
