X Air Hanuman covering 3
Hello again everyone. Hope all is well. I am trying to find out specifics regarding my 2008 X Air Hanuman, with specifics to the covering. The covering on my plane seems to be good 8.5/10 condition. I believe it is Dacron 170grams per square meter polyester fabric covering. Is Mylar and Dacron covering the same thing? I remember seeing some info on this covering but I seemed to have lost it. I thought I remember reading that: the covering is good for up to 1000hours of direct UV sunlight exposure or 2500hours total time in shade or sunlight. Does this seem correct? Anyone have any info on our x air covering? I recently gave the plane a full detail and then sprayed Lucas Slick Mist with uv protection on it. Sincerely, Justin from Canada

Testing fuel for Ethanol 41
Put a measured amount of water into a suitable glass vessel. A graduated test tube is ideal for this. Mark the top of the water on the glass vessel. Put in an equal amount of Avgas. Stopper and shake well. A thumb would work on a test tube, although I do not advocate using the thumb in direct contact with petrol. Check the water level again. Ethanol, being hygroscopic, will mix with the water, the level difference being commensurate with the percentage of ethanol in the fuel. Presumably it is possible in this way to remove the ethanol, but there are risks involved with ?processing“ fuel in this way. Mo. I am not particularly concerned with ethanol content, but rather detonation differences between using MoGas shell 91 or 93 versus paying 40% for AvGas that is nowhere near me. I would have to drive 40km in a different direction, only to fill 5, 20litre Cana if AvGas, then drive back to the grass field and put it in the Hanuman. From a liability point of view, it is not surprising how Jabiru does not cover or advise MoGas to be used - not even any additives, which is another topic is like to introduce. Why can't I purchase good quality shell 91 or 93 MoGas, and then add good quality octane booster with an additional dose of seafoam, to preserve the fuel as it may sit for a couple weeks? I have used many small and big motors, two stroke and four stroke gasoline and Diesel engines, but never airplane motors. Is there really a difference - am I missing something or is it the liability disclaimers that have me all caught up in a knot? In essence, I don't see how any problems would arise, knowing these Jabiru 2200 motors are about 8.1:1 compression ratio, using 91 or 93 shell MoGas, with seafoam additive to preserve and offer some better lubricity? Jabiru 2200 reliability 15
What serial numbers of these Jabiru 2200 motors are the more problematic motors? How do I know which serial numbers belong to which generation of the jabiru 2200? I am assuming finding out the serial number of the motor will cross reference to what generation of motor it is - subsequently enabling me to find out what parts and service bulletins went out to maintain reliability?

More Hanuman flight capability inquiries
Some more questions about the Hanuman: - how long will it take with two adults and full fuel with puddle jumper amphibious floats to get off the water? - same situation, but how long will it take to off on grass? - same situation, how long to land on water? - same situation, how long to land of grass? - what is the worst part about the Jabiru 2200 engines? 2009 model... - any fixes for the above issue(s), if any? - any modifications to get better results with the Jabiru 2200? Thanks again, Justin

New to this site and x air Hanumans and Jabirus etc 5
Hi Geoff and x air enthusiasts! Hope this message finds everyone well and all is keeping safe through these uncertain times. I have been reading certain posts regarding the x air Hanuman. Geoff, you are quite the story teller and I have learned lots already. I am near Alliston Ontario, near Mansfield Aerodrome and I may be able to buy a 2009 x air Hanuman with Jabiru 2200 and 140 hours total on plane and motor for 18,000$ CDN. Is this a good deal? Original owner and he kept the plane always inside and it looks pretty good if you ask me. This will be my first plane purchase and am hoping you can provide me some guidance. My dream is to drive my truck 6 mins to Mansfield Aerodrome, take off on grass and land in Parry sound on Lorimer lake to visit my parents with amphibious floats. I don't have the money to swap the Jabiru right now for a Rotax, although I may be able to in a few years but I hear guys flying the Jabiru with floats with no issue. What have you heard? What make and model.puddle jumper floats or amphibious floats will this plane accept? No one can provide this specific information to me and I can't find what I exactly need to remove the wheels and install brackets and floats. Are you able to help me in this manner? Also, is this a decent plane for me? I am big time interested in stol and bush flying for fishing and hunting. I hope I can run shell 91 or shell 93 on this Jabiru 2200? Any other Information is greatly appreciated as I may be buying this within the week or so. Looking forward to hearing from you or anyone else with guidance to give me, Justin

X-Air update 2
Hello everyone, it's been a little bit slow lately but I'm happy to confirm that after all of the problems in India with Covid that the factory are producing aircraft once more. Late last week a new Hanuman Aircraft was delivered into Perth, Western Australia to a new owner. As things settle down now the factory is back into production, supply will become more reliable and everything will hopefully go back to normal. If anybody needs anything in the way of parts, aircraft orders or anything else X-Air then please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly to my personal email. Many thanks Michael Coates X-Air Australia. mcoates@... -- With regards, Michael Coates AU +61 7 5522 0583 USA +1 213 984 1237 PIPISTREL AIRCRAFT DEALER OF THE YEAR 2012 Winner of the EAA August Raspet Award 2012 PIPISTREL AIRCRAFT DEALER OF THE YEAR 2017 mailto:mcoates@... skype name: xcomavionics Please note: because of the volume of e-mail we are now receiving our replies are done using voice recognition software in an effort to speed up the reply process. X-Air Standard Instrument Panel 3
Anyone had any experience removing the instrument panel on an X-Air Standard? How difficult is it to pull it out so I can easily access the wiring behind it? Any tips? I am seriously considering running all new power wiring in my aircraft. It has had several owners each who made some modifications. No documentation of wiring changes and no original wiring diagram for the aircraft. A rat's nest of wires behind the panel that are difficult to trace without pulling out the panel. May be time to start over with a clean slate. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

removing the instrument panel
Because most constructors would have fitted the instrument panel before fitting the windscreen, it can be difficult to remove. If it is held in place by captive nuts, then that makes things a lot easier. If not, very difficult to get at the nuts behind the panel. The UK kits had captive nuts. There is a modification, approved in UK, that allows the front bit of the pod to be cut off and made as a removable nose cone. I did that and I still have the details , it was published in the UK Microlight Flying magazine years ago and I also have the original wiring diagram. The removable nose cone is brilliant, it comes off in two minutes and it allows easy access to the nosewheel assembly and pedals and would help re your panel removal. It is also brilliant if ever you need to remove the windscreen. Huw ( from UK)
