Scored some OEM mufflers
5
So...always smart to be proactive with bike parts because we all know, it's never a case of 'if' but 'when'. Noted my nice condition mounted mufflers had a very small 'trouble spot ' on the balance pipe/connection. Before anyone makes me panic further, the running conditions have not changed a bit! Nor has the exhaust note. Been keeping things extra clean and ACF50 anti corrision spray continues working wonders. A pal in the FB W crew offered the pictured mufflers to me for....$200!? Yes, please! So, the attached is my efforts cleaning up with Simple Green(properly diluted etc), kerosene(I'm so late to learning about its cleaning powers) fine and extra fine steel wool, Simichrome and ACF50. I'd like to think they look pretty good. I know mufflers can be sourced from Webbike Japan but some buyers said they got hit with expensive customs fees. They said Posh is a good brand with nice construction but we all know nothing beats the fitment of OEM. Anyone wanna comment about the quality of any aftermarket mufflers and their fitment experiences? Thanks!

Winter commuting
11
Hi all - I'm a daily W commuter rain or shine. Recently it's gotten to 43¡ãF (6¡ãC) and I wonder, as it get's closer to freezing, how cold is too cold for the bike to maintain proper operating temp? My route is about 50mph (8Kph) for 45 minutes. I've switched to 5w40 in the winter for easier warm ups... but curious about the drive.

Considering buying a 2001 W650-Green
7
I¡¯ve always like the look and sound of the W650 and now I have an opportunity to pick one up. The bike is owned by a good friend that stopped riding about 5 years ago. It has not been started in at least 15 years. The tank still has that ancient gas in it. It¡¯s been kept in a garage and covered, but somehow has collected some dark funk all over it. Seems like some kind of mold. So I¡¯m wondering what a reasonable offer would be, considering: - all the fuel-related issues - brake fluid, master cylinder + caliper rebuild - many rubber items might be trashed - needs tires and tubes So, maybe $1000? $1500? I¡¯m not wanting to fully restore it, but just get it running and cleaned up. cheers, mark

No longer able to ride :-(
2
Late last year (2022) I was diagnosed with faulty heart parts and no longer allowed to ride. Besides, we have been invaded by a horde of messengers with 125cc bikes, mad skills and little regard for their own lives or those of older riders. I have therefore decided to sell my much loved 2000 W650. I am asking for $4,300.- but I am, of course willing to entertain offers. I have advertised it locally (I am located in Panama City, Panama). The bike is in excellent shape, especially considering it spent its early life in a beach town, but it needed a new tank in 2022 which I was fortunately able to find.

Question regarding Progressive Suspension 412 rear shock bushing dimensions
5
I'd searched the forum for information regarding Progressive Suspension 412 shocks for the W650 but I couldn't find any mention of problems with the size of the bushings they come with. I was thinking I might be able to use the bushings off the stock shocks, but there's a flange on the Progressive shocks that make it look to me as though they can't be removed without destroying them, and the flange also makes it impossible to see the inner dimension of the eyes the bushings go into. I don't want to cut them off to find the stock bushing don't fit in case I need to return them for a correct size. I've put in a request from the shop I bought them from, which guaranteed they'd fit, but I figure I might get a quicker answer here about our particular bike's specs.

My 2000 W650 for Sale at Santa Clara Cycle Accessories, California
2
I was going to sell my Honda CX650 Turbo, but decided to keep it, yet room for only three motorcycles in my garage, so I'm parting with my W. The link to the add description and video is below, but I'll reiterate some key points here. First of all, you're not going to see a nicer looking w650. It has polished wheels, stainless steel spokes, all aluminum engine components are polished. I replaced the rear fender with the Kawasaki OEM updated reinforced fender. Steering damper. LED headlight. Hagon shocks. Tour Master saddlebags. Dynojet stage 2 jet kit, which really improved the cold starting and low speed throttle responsiveness. Aftermarket exhaust, which really adds a bark over the stock exhaust. The odometer reads 4,956 miles, but actual mileage is 12,150 miles, because the reset button broke early on and was replaced under warranty. All documentation, with mileage at replacement, is provided with the bike, and is currently with Santa Clara cycle accessories. The gas tank knee pads were replaced with the later, larger ones, and the stock saddle was replaced with the later, more comfortable one. Your choice on the saddle, if you want the original one, which sits about an inch taller, you can have that one instead of the stepped saddle shown in the ad. Odometer adjustment, possible?

I have to increase the miles on my W. The stock replacement Odo that I got has less miles than my bike. Is there a way to make adjustment?

Gentleman a question about my 2000 W650.
16
Hello members: Just got a 2000 W 650 with 2000 some odd miles. Been sitting a very long time but looks great. Went ahead and did brake jobs on front and rear, oil change and filter serviced the chain and pulled the carbs off for a cleaning in the machine of my local shop. It would run only on starter fluid, good sign though. So I really do not want to put back on the stock air box set up again when I reinstall the done carb, can anyone recommend the right jetting if I choose to attempt just using pods instead and leaving the stock air cleaner off. Has anyone ever done it, or know anyone who successfully was able to transition these to pod filters? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Looking for jet size and type of pods if anyone has been successful at this. Sincerely, Howard

Sale 2004 W650
Hi All its time for my W650 to move on if anyone¡¯s interested It¡¯s in mint condition and only covered 15K Kind Regards From: [email protected] On Behalf Of Peter Wainwright via groups.io Sent: Thursday, June 8, 2023 9:05 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [W650Riders] Gentleman a question about my 2000 W650. Hi Rauri I also have that type of filter at the end of the crankcase hose. However I have fitted a nipple in the middle of the top with a small rubber hose going to a T junction on the fuel cock vacuum line to the 2 carbarrators ventures . The vacuum created in the carb-ventures is more than enough to scavenge the inflamable crankcase residue vapor coming up from hot crankcase expansion gasses.and also keep the petti cock flange open., during an engine run. That should solve the problem, check also hoses for tightness and porous decay. Has anyone in the group fitted a kickstarter and carbs to a W800, thinking of buying a secondhand 800 and doing it, if it's possible? ? Side stand support for W800
13
Hi everyone, Another W800 question, since y'all were so helpful last time: I find the foot of the W800's side stand a bit thin for stopping on gravel, dirt or grass (I'm concerned that the weight of the bike will cause it to sink into these soft surfaces, at best making it hard to upright, at worst tipping it over). I know that there are after-market additions to the side stand foot, referred to as side stand supports, which increase the surface area of the foot, thereby making this sinking effect less of an issue. An example is attached. The thing is, I assume not every support works with every foot. I was wondering if anyone has had success adding such a support to their W800 (or W650, I'm hoping the side stand is similar), and if yes, what model did you use? Thanks again, I appreciate any help I get! Sam
