What a beauty! Mods? The list is essentially?endless, you can do a little or do a full ground up resto-mod. Here is mine, if you like something, I can tell you more... Sorry, I forgot to mention, if you want low handlebars, you can get OEM Kawasaki Europe ones, the PN is?46003-1546 Also Z-Power sells a low handlebar (Euro spec handlebar) kit for ~$400. This includes the Euro clutch, brake and throttle lines,?also the mirrors, etc. When I went to low bars, I just bought HEL braided steel brake lines, they improved braking significantly.?? Yes, Webike is a great place to buy W stuff, I have had good luck with them. The pipes are Harley Softail OEM mufflers. They bolt on without much fuss and they sound much better than stock. Not too loud, but deep. I also run Harley VROD OEM shocks... On Wed, Apr 26, 2023 at 5:57?AM feraydoon via <feraydoon=[email protected]> wrote: Nice Bike Sujit, looks even more retro. |
You can get Bikemaster bars in a variety of shapes and bends. I¡¯ve got the Euro Touring bars on my Dub. Those can be ordered from any motorcycle shop. They¡¯re not at all expensive and mine have been on for well over 10 years with no rusting or other issues. I did trim about an inch off both ends.

Look through the Files section of this group. There are a number of write-ups about carb modifications, suspension improvements, making the seat more comfortable, adding accessories, and so on.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMade mine a cafe racer¡.WARNING!? WIRE FRAUD ADVISORY FOR REAL ESTATE? Due to increased fraud, buyers, sellers and lenders should confirm all wiring instructions by phone directly with the title company office before transferring funds. Just some of my own personal experiences with mounting low bars on my W.? At the time, I was not aware of the W650 group so didn't have anyone to ask.? Simply looking at the standard high bars on the American version, the bar is 1" in diameter, which presented
me with all kinds of concerns. Aftermarket low bars were all 7/8" diameter.? That meant that I had to find a 1" diameter bar, or if I used a 7/8" bar it would mean having to get all new 1"dia. controls including throttle, switches, etc..? Turns out, what you
can't see, is that Kawasaki didn't want to put 1" dia. controls on the W so they actually stepped the diameter of the bar down to 7/8" where the controls attached.? You can't tell this by looking at it.? I think it was just done for styling purposes.? Once
I figured this out I simply bought an aftermarket 7/8" bar, purchased a set of shims for the clamps that allow mounting a 7/8" bar in 1" clamps.? ?I used all the same controls, and even still have the original control cables and front brake line.? I probably
would suggest getting shorter cables and especially the brake line, but mine have been working fine for years.? I don't know what the factory low bars look like or how they dealt with the diameter issue, but I am assuming they must be 1" dia. bars stepped
down to 7/8" like the original high bars.? Thats probably why they are so expensive, but I don't know.? By the way, I highly recommend the low bars.? I hated the stock high bars.

Gary,
You're saying the OEM clamp on the W is 1"? |
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýNo link. Just a after market bar. Available many places. Here is a photo of my standard high bar showing the step. I think I got the shims from a bicycle website.? Good luck.

A few things I've done. Added a windshield, changed the mirrors to round ones, replaced the stock turn signals to ones that look like Lucas style, put on a rear luggage rack and side luggage brackets, reinforced the rear fender, replaced the stock carb jets and needles, changed the rounded out JIS screws on the carb float bowls to allen screws, added a relay to the horn to increase its power, painted the headshell black because the chrome had gotten damaged...I've probably forgotten a few things.?
Also, after 21 years and 48,000 miles, and damage from salty upstate NY roads, I stripped the clear coat off the engine casings and polished them, removed minor rust spots on the frame and repainted them.? |
