DSA power supply random shutdown - any known problems?
Hi,
recently my DSA602, due to power supply shutdown, required 3 attempts to start up successfully. Some minutes later it had a short power-out during operation that made the user interface stall. A

2445 PSU NTC inrush limiters
Hi all
As I might have mentioned I have another sick 2445, this time probably U800 as no horizontal deflection (but I *might* have a U800 in one of the parts 'scopes I also still have).
Anyway,

Re: Tek 2715 75 to 50 ohms conversion
Jean-Paul, I agree. I think its best to live with a 3db loss than finding the right connector to buy! Thanks.

Re: P6015A HV probe, trimpot R7 value?
Yeah, I read the same. Butane has a similar vapor pressure to Freon so it apparently works well, up to and in excess of the working voltage of the probe.
However, the flammability is a

Re: Hakko 470 Problems
I didn't notice much residue on the valves but I do notice that they're made of a white material and the replacements I'm seeing are clear. That might not indicate anything unordinary but I'm

Re: RM585A won't slide out of case
Thanks, Dave. It's not binding, but seems to be hitting something on the way out. I'll keep at it, but let me know if something jogs your memory :)

Re: Hakko 470 Problems
Download the manual and buy some filters for it. Running any desoldering station designed with filters without those filters will cause clogging and eventually damage. Disassemble and clean it

Re: Tek 2715 75 to 50 ohms conversion
Modifying front panel connectors is a difficult mod.
The oddball r¨¦sultats degrades swapping or resales value.
A $20..30 Mini-Circuits,or DIY min loss pad is much easier solution. 3db loss is

Re: 2465 Delta Cursor not visible
It's looking like a 5V S/C to pin-2 of the 4053. Isolating the A1 completely shows a +5V pull-up even though there are no components anywhere along that REF1 rail other than the 4053. I have got to

Re: P6015A HV probe, trimpot R7 value?
Jared,
I thought I had read somewhere that you could fill the body of a P6015 with butane. I don't know if it gives the same dielectric properties, and, of course, it's flammable. I assume that you

Re: RM585A won't slide out of case
While I have a number of RM scopes, I don't have a 585A; however, it doesn't take much to jam up the works. Rail hardware mounted incorrectly, a replaced screw of the wrong length, random junk

Re: Future Distractions...
I too have a 3S76/3T77 (non-A) combo that I'll soon be tackling.
I'd mentioned here before that I'm working on a 564, and some may recall I was looking for extenders. I now have a pair of extenders,

Re: P6015A HV probe, trimpot R7 value?
Yeah, it would be great to find out what oil is used by Tek in the P6015A, but they seem to be a bit tight-lipped about it...

Re: P6015A HV probe, trimpot R7 value?
Jared: Interesting idea.
It is still possible to obtain Freon dependng on your location.
Beware that the gas seals and design of P6015 may not be compatible to some silicon iols and that there are

Re: P6015A HV probe, trimpot R7 value?
My probe seems to work ok, but being the earlier model it needs the unobtanium Freon to work at it's full specs, so I was thinking of filling it with silicon oil like the A model, but that changes the

Re: Type 130 L-C Meter
Took your advice to heart Dave, left some select capacitors in circuit, but replaced with the originals a few of the bypass caps. Will report more tomorrow.
Thank you, and yes, all this helps.

Re: RM585A won't slide out of case
I have encountered this with other scopes, both a 2465 and a 475, both of which had dents in the corner of the outer metal case. When the rear plate reached the dent the case stopped sliding, hard!

Re: Hakko 470 Problems
Try cleaning the vaporized flux residue from the valves on the pump.
Cleaning the flux from the carbon vanes in my Pace desoldering station has fixed a low vacuum problem.
