Re: 465B - square wave trace shows horozontal line across top of pulses, but not bottom
The recent comments made me look at the picture. Yes, that intensity looks really cranked up too high, obvious from the blooming. The retrace blanking isn't perfect, so some will show through when

@Eric thanks for checking your stock Eric but Hakan seems to have confused my post by putting lots of spurious part numbers I've checked the Tek wiki site and cant find the 154-731 CRT listed so i

Re: Tek 576 Curve Tracer repair
Have you worked on any high-rel or military equipment with knobs? They usually used knobs that may be plastic (sometimes bakelite) but the knob is molded over a brass or aluminum insert. The set screw

Bo brave on progress. All the decades old knobs suffer as the plastic is stressed by the design and ages to crack. Even if set screws are tightened carefully the knobs tend to split at the hole of

A quick way to determine if one CCD is bad is to swap them between the channels and see if the problem moves to the other channel. They are easy to remove and come off with four nuts. When

Re-attaching the ground wire made zero difference unfortunately, although the test did take longer to fail. I'm going to attach a signal to both channels and trace it back, hopefully that will give

Re: 2465A Power Supply Issues
Hi, If you followed the silkscreen on the PC (it has an error), you probably swapped 2 capacitors locations. One of them needing a 100+ Volt one, where now a 35V one is installed. If you changed the

Re: 465B - square wave trace shows horozontal line across top of pulses, but not bottom
Kevin, John's theory is best. If the beam intensity is set too high, it is possible to get this artifact as well, so give that a tweak and see if the ghost line disappears before the main trace gets

Re: 465B - square wave trace shows horozontal line across top of pulses, but not bottom
Kevin, This looks like it might be a trace blanking problem. The beam is supposed to be turned off while being re-positioned to the left of the screen, but it looks like it is staying on. The

The TM5000/500 mainframes have a bulk supply from which is derived 5.0 volts.? The value of that supply is not important unless it's 8.0 volts or less.? The regulators of that time used NPN
