Re: SubaruVanagon Parts/Servicing/Installers Database Now Available
Thanks for doing that.....With that confirmation work, it would be nice to
have a "in business as of" date field so folks can know and update as
things go along

Hey gang.
I went through the old listing of conversion related vendors I had mentioned earlier.? Attempted emails, searching for business listings, etc.
Only a few made it through the searches and

Re: Picking an A/C compressor for the '90 2.2 in my '90 vanagon

Re compressor, I've designed an adapter plate that mounts to the typical
2.2/2.5 AC bracket which takes a very common FS10 compressor available from
4seasons or

Re: Picking an A/C compressor for the '90 2.2 in my '90 vanagon
Ebay has brackets, maybe ask the samba or FB groups too.
I've done a few AC systems on larger vehicles like suburbans and these vans.
My input is: it's worth it to invest in the tools to make your AC.

Re: Picking an A/C compressor for the '90 2.2 in my '90 vanagon
I may be the dissenting opinion here, but when I equipped my Westy (90 EJ22) with AC, I surveyed the local junk yards and concluded that brackets from almost any 4-cyl Subaru through 2001 would work.

Re: Picking an A/C compressor for the '90 2.2 in my '90 vanagon
what I bought:
* a rebuilt compressor (I don't recall which)
* hoses & fittings from coldhose.
* a big condenser that I mounted on the roof at an angle with fans.
bigger is better.
* two air handlers

Re: Picking an A/C compressor for the '90 2.2 in my '90 vanagon
Yes, it came with the donor motor; who the heck knows how many hours on it.? I had screwed up my upfront condenser by twiddling around, so a donor was supplied for that too, $100.? In hindsight,

Mine is an 85 Tintop, with EJ22 motor and Subie A/C compressor.? It was diagnosed as some small leak in Evaporator.? This is the HUGE thing in an 85 Tintop that hangs behind driver compartment.?

have?
Unless I can see a junk yard compressor work I'm

Re: Picking an A/C compressor for the '90 2.2 in my '90 vanagon
I would suggest giving outfront motorsports a call.? They can supply a Bracket w/ Adjuster and everything, plus a new A/C pump that takes the typical 0-ring based fittings (not supplied but any A/C

Picking an A/C compressor for the '90 2.2 in my '90 vanagon
I have a 1990 Vanagon with a 1990 (I think) Subaru 2.2 (I bought it converted).
I'm thinking about hooking up the A/C system and it does not have a compressor on the engine. I need hoses/fittings for
