Re: Late model low mileage engines from Gundies in WA state?
Are those throttle-by-wire engines ? Given a choice.. I'd say a throttle cable engine is a nicer beast. generally, no junkyard is ever allowed to supply every single part and all of them undamaged.

Re: Late model low mileage engines from Gundies in WA state?
I'd suggest working with John Lemley from Gaston, Oregon. He's familiar with the conversion and the necessary donor parts, has fair prices, and usually has a fair assortment of engines available.

Late model low mileage engines from Gundies in WA state?
I'm starting a conversion soon in Colorado. I plan on using an 08-10 low mileage 2.5 engine. I'm having a little trouble finding one locally at a decent price. On www.car-part.com I notice a bunch of

Conversion complete, a couple of Q's: High idle, vacuum routing
Hi all, First I would like to thank everyone who helped me along the way here when I had questions. My install went well and the RMW kit was well worth the money. My engine is a 99 2.2 from a non

Re: Exhaust by Vanaru
I fabbed both my conversions exhausts from mild steel tubing, 1st one was in 2002. No problems, one is 10 yrs old, but I do rub and spray them twice a year with peanut oil. Peanut oil somehow seems to

Re: Exhaust by Vanaru
Yes, I've seen that too, the first stainless headers from smallcar were fairly good material and I've seen several last for a long time like yours. The quality of the material has gone downhill and

Re: Exhaust by Vanaru
After only 12K miles and numerous repairs to my SC header, I replaced it with a Vanaru header. The fit and finish were exceptional. Unlike the SC header which did not bolt up easily, the Vanaru header

This header looks good but without coating it will not last long ceramic coating adds $165 and makes header $565+shipping Leon

Re: Exhaust by Vanaru
The mild steel headers on my EJ22Turbo have had cracking problems since new. Cracks have developed at flanges and pipe joints. There is no flex joint. For my next set I'm thinking about trying Stan's

Re: Exhaust by Vanaru
Indeed. That's the key element here. I'd also suggest using a flex joint if you are going with SS. It's thinner walled and more "brittle", and without any harmonic-vibe dampening (read: flex joint)
By Bob Stevens · #63676 ·
Re: Exhaust by Vanaru
yes, flex pipe won't help now but could prevent cracks if installed during conversion i would talk to SC about cracks. There is no header out there guaranteed to last long time, they are all

Re: help with 3 codes
Calling Smallcar is a good plan. They'll be aware of which codes should be "fooled" by the interface board and which are expected to remain. all the best, Brent -- Brent Weide Portland, Oregon

Re: How to wire VW 3 wire VSS on speedo?
"T" is ground, "V" is signal out, "+" is Power you have those right at DOPS connector if you use pin #12 for VSS signal Leon

How to wire VW 3 wire VSS on speedo?
I'm hooking up the VW (Jetta) VSS on my syncro's speedometer. Looking at my notes I'm seeing conflicting information on how to wire the three connections on this VSS. One source says "T" is ground,

Unfortunately a flex pipe wouldn't help on two of my cracks. They are parallel with the pipe on the bends immediately under the two drivers side ports. I'm just done with it and don't want to throw
